ESEE IZULA Owners Survival Guide

- If you own an ESEE Izula, this survival guide is a must-watch! Learn about the best sheath modifications and tips for getting the most out of your ESEE Izula knife.
Here are some ideas for sheath mods using the factory sheath you receive with your knife. The beauty of this is that you can use your knife to make the mods. The sheath material is such that you can easily cut it with your Izula.
You will notice that this video is 4:11. Pretty clever huh? That was not easy to do. Anyway, this may turn into sort of a series of videos where I touch on a subject and keep it at 4:11. Wish me luck.
Way back in the old days when ESEE was RAT and did not have handles to go with these knives, everyone was wrapping them with paracord. I did not like the feel of that so I made a handle out of an existing handle I had taken off my H.E.S.T. (Also from Rowen). The trouble is the handle extended far enough towards the blade that when I went to put it back in the sheath, it would not fit. I needed to cut a notch. No bid deal. But now every sheath I make for this has to have my custom wedge cut out. Again, the knife does all the work.
If you have not purchased an Izula yet, then perhaps you should really consider it. It is so versatile and has the best warranty in the entire knife business.

Another excellent video sir, thank you. Have four of them , one in s35vn. I'm a carpenter and the Izula and the esee 4 are my go to work horses.
Cool. I love both of those knives. I'm impressed with how sharp the S35VN version can get. But...I still just carry the 1095 version. I just seem to like it better, especially with my handle scales.
That property and view looks great!
Thank you very much. That is my side yard.
@knifetimestory trust me I'm not doubting you at all, but for some reason because of your outline it looks like a green screen.
Yep. I took a picture of my side yard from my porch. That way I can comfortably do a video in a controlled environment, but yet still be "outside".
Hope that helps.
So many good sheath mods you've done.
One knife to fit them all.
Tank you. It is a fun knife to modify. Even the sheaths.
My s35vn Izula with their micarta scales is my favorite knife I own. I also use a tek lok for belt carry. Thanks for the look at what you’ve done with your sheaths.
I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave me a nice comment. That means a lot! I hope the video was helpful.
Your innuendo game is quite strong sir.
Thank you sir for noticing. None are planned, but when they happen, my brain tweaks a little as I absorb what it is I just said. It's the way I'm wired.
I stripped my Izula and did your hot spaghetti patina. It turned out amazing. The pattern looked professional. Thanks
How cool is that! So glad you gave it a try. Thanks for letting me know the outcome! Sure wish I could see it!
They are great knives and honestly I have a hard time putting it down once I pick it up! Seriously! Checks the boxes...oh yeah...
I sometimes find myself looking for something to do so I can use that knife. Weird huh?
Cool video. I have to get an Izula. Obviously it’s a very practical knife. Thanks
My pleasure. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Let me know when you get one and what you think about it.
great little item that one.
I love it. But it really needs a handle. Otherwise I'd never carry it.
Very good video, thank you
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that!
Missing your videos sir... where are you?
I'm still here! Just uploaded one on a sheath from American Bench Craft. Hope you can see it. Thanks for checking in.
Could you make a video on how you made the neck sheath? I want to try to do it
Thanks for the video idea. I may do that sometime in the future.
Excellent 👍👍
Thank you 👍. That’s very kind of you to say and I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Are there definitive reasons by you and others why this version is preferred vs
the 2 ?
.
From what I've read in the discussion forums over the years, and my own personal experience, the 2 really only offers 1/2 inch more length in the handle. That is it. Blade and everything else is exactly the same.
That being said, the regular Izula is all the knife you really need. It is perfect for inside a pocket, or hanging from your neck or in a belt sheath.
For the neck sheath, did you just cut it to shape or you reglued the parts?
Great question. I cut it to shape.
Were we on the subject of the ESSE Izula?
I've never had one! Hard to believe, yes, but it's true. When I did look into buying one, finally, the Xancudo was coming out and I just waited for that and bought one of those instead, thinking that it would be better.
And honestly, I was SO excited when I first bought the Xancudo, but now, honestly, it's just way to small for my delicate, girlish hands... (sarcasm alert).
I'm gonna gift it to a friend soon, I think.
I'm not sure that the Izula or Izula 2 would be any better. I'm just tired of squarshin' my sausage fingers on a wee little knife handle. Life's become too short, as they say....
Well, if the Xancudo was small your you boy hands...then the Izula and Izula II will feel like Tic Tac's to you. Don't do it.
I just like mine because for quick little jobs it works great. For any sort of extended use, no thank you.
@@knifetimestory One of my favourite hard use, cheap EDCs right now is the Cold Steel SR1 light. At a robust 6'2", I'm not a monster or anything, but I like the uncramped feeling of real estate. Plus my pockets are prolly bigger than some 32 incher, so it fits good in there.
Thanks for the tip. 👍
Good points my friend.
Is funny how just about everyone I know who Carries an izula has their own way of utilizing the sheath…I just horizontal carry it with paracord.
That is what makes it such an awesome knife. It is so versitile.
Would the becker bk14 be considered a copy?
Nope. That is the ESKABAR. A collaboration between ESEE and KaBar. The Bark River PSK EDC is super close in shape and dimensions. There are numerous others.
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@knifetimestory have you used the eskabar by any chance? I'm considering one.
I've had three. Each time I buy one, I'm reminded as to why I don't have one. They just feel awkward to me. Too much blade and too little handle. I'll stick with the Izula and the Izula II.
👍👍👍.🇺🇲🔪🔥🌲
Thank you!
Eeezula not eye zula. Love the videos but it’s killing me
No kidding? I should call ESEE and get the "official" pronunciation. I'd hate to be constantly saying it incorrectly. Thank you.
@@knifetimestory it happens lol but I do like the videos and love ESEE you can’t really go wrong with their products and their warranty
@@knifetimestory You know when someone says, "EYE-talian instead of "Italian"? lol Keep them coming though, man!. My totally custom 3 was stolen. I'm gonna try out an s35v version this time. I definitely want to put the sheath on a diet. Hopefully it stays in one piece like your Izula necker.
my bps knives are better
Which models do you have? They are an awesome knife. I just don’t think that the small one could handle the punishment that I’ve given this knife.
