ESEE IZULA Owners Survival Guide

  • If you own an ESEE Izula, this survival guide is a must-watch! Learn about the best sheath modifications and tips for getting the most out of your ESEE Izula knife.
    Here are some ideas for sheath mods using the factory sheath you receive with your knife. The beauty of this is that you can use your knife to make the mods. The sheath material is such that you can easily cut it with your Izula.
    You will notice that this video is 4:11. Pretty clever huh? That was not easy to do. Anyway, this may turn into sort of a series of videos where I touch on a subject and keep it at 4:11. Wish me luck.
    Way back in the old days when ESEE was RAT and did not have handles to go with these knives, everyone was wrapping them with paracord. I did not like the feel of that so I made a handle out of an existing handle I had taken off my H.E.S.T. (Also from Rowen). The trouble is the handle extended far enough towards the blade that when I went to put it back in the sheath, it would not fit. I needed to cut a notch. No bid deal. But now every sheath I make for this has to have my custom wedge cut out. Again, the knife does all the work.
    If you have not purchased an Izula yet, then perhaps you should really consider it. It is so versatile and has the best warranty in the entire knife business.

    Another excellent video sir, thank you. Have four of them , one in s35vn. I'm a carpenter and the Izula and the esee 4 are my go to work horses.

      Cool. I love both of those knives. I'm impressed with how sharp the S35VN version can get. But...I still just carry the 1095 version. I just seem to like it better, especially with my handle scales.

      Yep. I took a picture of my side yard from my porch. That way I can comfortably do a video in a controlled environment, but yet still be "outside".
      Hope that helps.

    Are there definitive reasons by you and others why this version is preferred vs
    the 2 ?
    .

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From what I've read in the discussion forums over the years, and my own personal experience, the 2 really only offers 1/2 inch more length in the handle. That is it. Blade and everything else is exactly the same.
      That being said, the regular Izula is all the knife you really need. It is perfect for inside a pocket, or hanging from your neck or in a belt sheath.

  • @brunolelan2590
    @brunolelan2590 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the neck sheath, did you just cut it to shape or you reglued the parts?

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  ปีที่แล้ว

    Were we on the subject of the ESSE Izula?
    I've never had one! Hard to believe, yes, but it's true. When I did look into buying one, finally, the Xancudo was coming out and I just waited for that and bought one of those instead, thinking that it would be better.
    And honestly, I was SO excited when I first bought the Xancudo, but now, honestly, it's just way to small for my delicate, girlish hands... (sarcasm alert).
    I'm gonna gift it to a friend soon, I think.
    I'm not sure that the Izula or Izula 2 would be any better. I'm just tired of squarshin' my sausage fingers on a wee little knife handle. Life's become too short, as they say....

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, if the Xancudo was small your you boy hands...then the Izula and Izula II will feel like Tic Tac's to you. Don't do it.
      I just like mine because for quick little jobs it works great. For any sort of extended use, no thank you.

      @@knifetimestory One of my favourite hard use, cheap EDCs right now is the Cold Steel SR1 light. At a robust 6'2", I'm not a monster or anything, but I like the uncramped feeling of real estate. Plus my pockets are prolly bigger than some 32 incher, so it fits good in there.
      Thanks for the tip. 👍

      I've had three. Each time I buy one, I'm reminded as to why I don't have one. They just feel awkward to me. Too much blade and too little handle. I'll stick with the Izula and the Izula II.
