Nice flying love Warbirds especially my giants. Try easing into the throttle rather than punching it on take off. Then use more right rudder and easing it off as the tail comes up. Scale take offs with the tail in the air as it rolls straight down the runway are a thing of beauty. Full scale warbird pilots used to stand on the right rudder to keep it straight down the runway. Also use the throttle not the elevator to control the descent of the plane on landing. Plane moving forward on a steady descent to just before touchdown, pull throttle at that time for a nice main gear roll out. Be ready to add left rudder on landing as the engine slows. Keep up the scale flying.
The P40 is a beauty, no doubt! I’d probably have one, if my storage space wasn’t as limited… Obviously it seems to pull as violently to the left as the P51. Probably true for all tail daggers that are insanely overpowered, still, some seem to be worse. Adam (Model AV8R) has published are very nice vid on how to improve piloting skills (episode 47), where he particularly addresses this issue caused by motor torque and how to mitigate it. This is really excellent and my takeoffs have improved a lot. Still the P51 takeoff is currently my biggest challenge. It also has a very bad trend to tip over, so, if you do not constantly give up elevator as soon as the bad girl is moving, you will sand down or break props like crazy. The main gear of the P40 is at least quite a bit more to the front… Maybe the P51 was the wrong choice 😂 ( No, I love her anyway and as soon as she flies, she’s a dream)
Thanks for sharing Alexander. I've been watching Adam for a while now(another great guy), but never watched Ep #47, will definitely check it out. I'm working my way up to warbirds - my ultimate goal. The Mustang is epic!
@@robc5296 If you want a Warbird to start with, pick the T-28 1.1m from E-Flite - super easy to fly and start and landing, will be a challenge as well in the beginning as it also tends to bounce, but the gear is solid and forgiving. As there is no real bearing in the nose wheel, it is kind of wiggly and starts to get more of a suggestion of a direction after a while. I fixed mine with a piece or carbon fiber tube, since then it is way more precise to direct. And I also invested in an Avian lite ESC - thrust reverse. It’s a dream now. As soon as you can handle landings with little to no bouncing, consider the cooler bigger brother with retracts. But we’re getting off topic since it all started with the P-40… 😉
@@alexandernentwig9596 Thanks for the additional info. Yes, many of the guys at my club have that 1.1m T-28 you recommend and all say it flies like a basic trainer. I would love to move into the E-Flight 1.2m warbirds but they need to add nav. lights already - LOL. Watched Adam's episode #47 today, fantastic video - thank you so much again for commenting on that.
@@robc5296 my pleasure! Then I guess you also saw Ep.97? (I only noticed it after replying to you). But you’re right - at least Nav lights definitely missing. Not too hard to add though, if you don’t mind to cut into the foam of a brand new plane… anyway, take care and happy flying!
Looks like the motor needs more right thrust....swerving to the left on takeoff. Second takeoff was a partial tip stall. On landings I was sure it was going to tip stall again. P40's are tip stall monsters.
From bungeled takeoffs to poor landings just an off day!
Very pretty warbird, you saved her well on the take off, the last two landings were perfect, well flown greg...jeff.
Thanks so much!!

Thank you for all these wonderful tips!
Your off day would be my good/great day😂
Very kind, thank you!
You keep it real Greg, At least just a scraped wingtip.
Thanks, just a little touch up paint is needed.

Thanks for sharing your findings, and yes model 8v8r is one of my favorite channels.

Morning, Sir! What are your expo settings for the hobbyking albatross.
100 % throw with 30% expo all around.

More practice with her for sure...wait that means I need to fly more ....ooo poor me...lol
Interesting.. I'm using a HRB 4s 3300 all the way aft and still added 1 oz of weight to tail. I think I could still stand to add a little more.
my 4500 4s is all the way forward and hanging of the tray a bit. seems to fly very level.
@@FatGuyFliesRC I wonder how "flat your elevator" is. Is there any trim used. Will it hold it's path inverted at a 45* angle with 3/4 throttle?
