  • Our iPhone 12 versus Pixel 5 camera comparison is here to give you a look at how the cameras on the new iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 smartphones stack up. The new Pixel 5 has a new ultrawide camera on the back, but the iPhone 12 also comes with improved optics for capturing clearer photos from its three 12MP cameras.
    This of this as a mini iPhone 12 versus Pixel 5 camera review.

      Google is leaning more on software then hardware. Because hardware they are using 2 year old stuff. But picking up the slack with software but even then you can see software can only take you so far.
      But at its price and what it can push out its an amazing product

  • @exiledfrommyself

    Google needs to upgrade the camera sensor with the Pixel 6. The pictures are still fantastic from the old sensor but everyone has caught up to Google. If they lose their advantage with the camera then they lose their most important selling point.

      The selfies look way too "airbrushed" for sure on the iPhone. Not sure if they show too much detail on the pixel tho lol. The colors are definitely processed much differently on the 2 phones so I guess depends on your preference. But I think if you want those super saturated, poppin' HDR pics you can still get there with a few quick edits in Google Photos.

It would be nice if when you're doing the side by side you could add a little caption ontop of the image or video saying which image/video is more true to life. By true to to life I mean, what your eyes see in person.
    I would appreciate that ALOT because it would make choosing a device alot easier.
    Other than that, awesome job on the camera comparison :)

    • @genx-tv
      @genx-tv 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But people don't pick an image just because it is more "true to life". Samsung fans always complain that iPhone pictures don't have enough contrast or vibrance like the Samsung phones. So by their definition iPhone is too much "true to life". Many people like the processed look. But really, I think both phones, Pixel and iPhone, look fine. You can't go wrong with either one, and you would be nitpicking if you truly hate either one -- not that you can't have a preference. And there's always RAW photo option if you really like to tweak things.

    I was afraid about that Pixel 5 front camera..., but it’s looks good for videoconference! I will pic the Google Pixel 5, just because: good cameras, good price and very best battery consumption (maybe, 2 time more than iPhone 12 Pro Max)... That’s a shame iPhone, because in other case I will get the iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12... 📌

    Was it just my video player or did the iPhone video look jumpy when walking at night part. Kind of gave me motion virtego. Watched in chrome then switch to TH-cam app to see if that helped. Wonder what the actual screen looked like? Re-watched, It looks like it's not consistently jumpy but lags at different rates. Sometimes snaps to catch up.

    Without input from yourself telling the viewer which camera is producing the best colour representation, it is impossible to say which is best. Only you can see how close each camera comes to matching the exact colours in each image, so we, the viewer, cannot make an informed decision.

    In general the Pixel seems to have better colour depth while the IPhone is more contrasty (though blues look deeper on the iPhone) . Both appear fine. Just depends on what you want. Personally, I'll stick with my Pixel 3a and save a few hundred dollars. $600-$700 for a 'slightly' better picture (maybe) seems like little incentive to buy either.

    On your particular videos, colour rendition seems better on the pixel 5. However, I have seen other comparisons where this is not so. There is the other problem that zoomed in, the Google photos will have less detail/definition than some other phones, notably Samsung's (which have worse colour balance). All in all I very much like what they have done with an ageing sensor. Furthermore expect some updates which will increase photo and video output quality. Who needs the latest and greatest when you can do that much with an old sensor. As a side note, I still think that Samsung's Galaxy S7 had better general photo output than my Note 10 Plus (other than night mode which at the time did not exist and is mostly due to the better processor rather than camera hardware/optics). I thoroughly like what Google has done. A Volkswagen for the market. Who needs any more?

  • @hutchrt0596
    @hutchrt0596 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am so glad that we can actually debate which one might be better in videos, even if it is the iPhone that wins! Because that was being destroyed by literally every phone on the market against Pixel.
    I was really kind of excited to hear about the Dolby vision on the iPhone, but every reviewer out there can't post any of it because the Dolby vision doesn't translate well and you have to have very specific software. I think it's ahead of its time, is what it looks like, but maybe it will go ahead and instigate it with all of the software and app companies out there. Then on the next pixel we will have it, I hope please?
    In many cases I like how the pixel lightens pictures and video and the colors are more vibrant, but it's the same as it is with Samsung where it's just not always realistic. The pixel always looks realistic, but in some cases it looks dimmer. One thing I've decided from Samsung, I would always rather have realistic pictures that I can put a filter on than a picture that is skewed in color and almost impossible to correct. Especially when you want somebody to know exactly the color of something you're looking at!

    I'm disappointed Google didn't up the ante more with the 5 but tbh I thought the Pixel still held a slight lead in video especially with focus and smoothness of movement. Apple is doing that thing Samsung does where it blurs detail in favor of oversaturation and it's horrible. Better camera I think on the iPhone, but better software on the Pixel

    I really don't know much about smartphones in general. I have been using iPhones for about 9 years now and I am open to something different. My iPhone 7 Plus is on its last leg and I need something better. I can't really tell too much of a difference between pictures and video quality, they both look pretty good to me except that Pixel seems to capture more lifelike colors. I never liked that my iPhone made me look orange. I am wanting something with really good battery life. I know that is something that Apple is known to not be great at so I was wondering if you could tell me how these batteries hold up to one another? I will either be getting the iPhone 12 or the Pixel 5 as I am not interested in spending a thousand dollars on a phone and I have been intrigued in Google phones since the Moto X came out as I have always liked Google products and I don't really use Apple's ecosystem try as they might to get me to use iCloud lol. This is basically just a long roundabout way of asking about battery life. I watch lots of videos on my phone and I am tired of charging my phone a million times a day! What would you recommend between these two if just looking at battery life?

    In daylight shots, iPhone turned out a lot better than Pixel in some scenarios. Pixel has a tendency to turn the shots a bit red which takes away the natural tone of the image. In night time outdoor shots also, iPhone was much better than Pixel.
    But low light indoor shots is where I preferred Pixel. And I found Pixel selfie camera consistently clicking better photos than the iPhone.
