WCW Fall Brawl: War Games took place on September 14th 1997 in Winston-Salem, NC. The annual War Games match featured The Four Horsemen taking on the nWo inside the cage. The nWo had made fun of Arn Anderson's retirement speech on Monday Nitro, and the Horsemen (along with new enforcer Curt Hennig) were out to get revenge. Representing the nWo in the main event are Kevin Nash, Konnan, Buff Bagwell and Syxx.
Elsewhere on the card Chris Jericho defends the Cruiserweight Championship against Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko takes on Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall and Randy Savage team up again to battle Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page, and Alex Wright defends his TV title against Ultimo Dragon.
This video is part part of the Wrestling Bios Reliving The War series.

Curt Henning in the 4 horsemen made to much sense. It would have been perfect for the Horsemen to be faces against the nwo. Who knows what could have came of it. But instead Henning became just another nwo member lost in the black and white shuffle.

I remember even as a kid I didn't get why they had him join the NWO. It was honestly when the cracks started to show for me that they didn't know what to do with the storyline.

@@BaneClandestine The only two reasons I could think of why WCW made decision to have Henning turn on the Four Horseman to join NWO, was to shock the audience and reason number two was maybe Flair wanted to have a program against Henning, and this is the idea to get to that, but it doesn’t explain why Henning did what he did on camera from a character motivation.

Ooof, I remember this next Nitro so well. I'm pretty sure there was an image of Flair after he got the door slammed into his face that legit made me turn off my TV and cry. I was ten years old so I cried at the foot of our staircase so that my dad could see. When he walked past and was like "wtf is wrong with you?" I tried to tell him about Curt Henning's betrayal (which I didn't see coming, once again, because I was 10) and my dad was like "boy if you don't stop crying you need to go to bed right now". I was much too young for all this horseman business.

One of the commentators (I think it was Tony) also raised a really good point during the Wargames match about it being annoying that absolutely nobody from WCW was actually willing to step up and replace Hennig when he appeared to be injured. Sadly this sort of thing happening constantly actually serves as a good kayfabe excuse for the nWo dominating the company for so long.

I know he gets a lot of a flack for his commentator start and then learning on the job in the ring but only thing you can expect from any wrestler is...did they get better? Woooooooooo
Jericho vs Guerrero was great. Had to go back and rewatch the match.
The Alex Wright dance music playing in the background the entire match was great. I need a 24hr loop version of that song.
    Another excellent video. Cheers

Random WCW Mandela Effect: the NWO ran the whole "it would be an honor" line into the ground during this whole build, even during the promo they cut in this video right before the War Games match. So much so that I remember saying that line all the time in my regular dialogue as an inside joke lol....... But watching back the promo they intended to mock, Curt actually says "it would be a privilege". I found that out yearsssss later and was stunned😂

Scott Norton is a beast and I'd say underrated. In 1998 when he goes against Goldberg, it's one of the only matches that looks good with Goldberg that wasn't a complete waste of time.
