This long-running animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield in an unnamed U.S. state. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbour, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum.

Yeah, at one point, it was implied he wasn't going to upload more Simpsons reactions on his channel due to copyright, but I'm happy to see he actually is uploading more after all. Unfortunately the Bob's Burgers reaction got screwed over by copyright his channel and you can only watch his reactions to that show on his Patreon.

Also, that kid that asked Lisa to do his homework...while he never showed up again, he was actually an early design of a character that did show up over and over, but got a different personality established. And yes, said recurring character was in the movie. If you get to the season where he became more fleshed out (which I hope, as it's my second favourite season), I'll probably refer back to this comment and tell you who that kid became.

On weekdays my family eats at the dining room table, but at the weekend we can sit infront of the tv eating and watching a movie. But its nice sitting down and connecting, without the distraction of the tv

Yeah, it's common a occurrence for them to use the longer theme song in episodes that run shorter and the shorter theme song in episodes that run longer.

Yay! SO glad you’re back to this! I was starting two think you weren’t gonna continue. I really hope you keep up with this. This show is something really special. There’s a reason it’s been going for 30+ years. There are so many great moments and an unimaginable amount of guest appearances. It’s like a time capsule of pop culture moments and references. They’ve had *NSYNC, lady Gaga, Barry white, Jonny cash, Michael Jackson, Tony Bennet, Leonard Nimoy, Buzz Aldrin, U2, Steven Hawking, all three of the remaining Beatles, Lenny Kravitz, Tony Blair, Ernest Borgnine James Taylor, James woods, Betty White, Bette Midler, Hugh Hefner, Luke Perry, Elizabeth Taylor, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Ramones, James Earl Jones, Mickey Rooney, The Who, and it could go on and on as there’s literally been nearly 1000 (985 counting the Simpson movie).
There are hundreds of adult cartoons out anymore but Simpsons is something else. Please keep up the viewing. If you decide not to do the full run maybe consider having fans suggest episodes so you can at least get the highlights and best of. I’ll be honest I’ve always thought the show really found it’s stride from season four on and there’s so many wonderful moments, references and surprises you’d be missing out on if you don’t.

14:49 this episode and life on the fast lane (also from season one) don’t include the intro in order to make the running time a little longer. Some episodes have the full opening sequence and others have a shorter version.
season 1 turns out to be actually quite sad and heartfelt.
also the story on homers mom here is so different cause later on it shows his mom loved him alot and never said homer was a disappointment unless this is because grandpa simpson told him this idk lol

@ManAndDogFan777 Still, I liked some episodes around Seasons 14 and 15, so I'm glad it didn't. Season 11 is my least favourite season of the first 15.

While Season 1 isn't as good as the subsequent seasons, these three were ultimately quite strong. There's both episodes that are probably objectively better AND worse that you haven't gotten to yet but I won't spoil anything here. I know which ones I'm looking forward to, but who knows what you'll think of them? Personally, my favourite of these three were Moaning Lisa. Having experienced depression myself, I can relate to what she's going through.

My family eats around the table about once a month. It's not like a planned thing, it just happens every once in a while. Sometimes it will happen more or less often.

my mom always wants me to eat at the dining room table. i think when i was younger, it was easier to do, cause it was like the law to me, but now, with young adult angst and times when i just want to be in front of my computer and not have to face anyone, well....

Oh, hey! It's been a hot minute since The Simpsons. Glad to see it continuing and that you're enjoying it.
Season one is pretty rough as the team is still finding their rhythm but season 2 and 3 definitely have very golden moments.
Personally, I'd say watch it til your bored or don't think it's funny anymore. Most people quote the golden age stopping at about season 8 but I personally feel watching till season 14 still have some gems in there.

My favorite top 3 Simpsons episodes has got to be. Homer vs New York City, Cartridge family (the gun episode) & that itchy & scratchy episodes tho.

Glad to see these continuing. Seriously, season 1 may be rough at times, but once you get to season 2, the show just continues to go up until season 11. (And honestly, I still think season 11 is good for the most part. I can think of, like, two episodes in that season I didn't like, but that's about it)

If you record these at the same rate as you did with the big bang theory it would take about 3 years to get through all the seasons, even though it's almost at season 40 and will most likely keep on going

Cody you should know that episode 1 of season 3 is banned Because Michael Jackson voiced character in it , but it has one of the first emotional and beautiful moments in the show , definitely find a way to watch it it's called stark raving Dad

This is a controversial opinion , but I think there is great episodes In every season. If you don't feel like Watching every season, just look up the top episodes from those seasons.
As said before...
1. Production Order and Airing Order do not align at all here. The first episode produced is Some Enchanted Evening. S2 has two episodes that got held over until S3.
(They both have pros and cons, with Airing Order especially being important in the latter seasons, but keep in mind when you get to Some Enchanted Evening that one was made dead first, late 1988 and early 1989. Especially watch the Couch Gag)
2. There IS a Season 0, when the show ran as a shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show. Watch those.
The Simpsons has always had a wacky history with production order and airing order. Even the newest seasons, Al Jean stopped being the showrunner after season 33, but some of his episodes spilled over into season 34 due to airing order.

That's his next major appearance, but he does have a small part in season 2, episode 5 "Dancin' Homer" where he sings the national anthem at a ball game. But yeah, I agree, I wish the show had used the character a little more.

I can relate to Lisa in that last one. I think the resolution was pretty realistic you don’t know what will cheer you up it’s always the unexpected. Marge came through for Lisa .

I hadn’t seen Bob Burgers so I am not familiar with that show As MUCH as I am with The Simpsons if I am completely honest I prefer The Simpsons over Bob Burgers to be honest, but that’s just me.

season 2 is when the simpsons get better
Very much so.
Not at all.
The show gets significantly better each season until season 4, where it reaches its peak. The show is a bit less slow and awkward in season 2, episodes feel a bit better paced and more organic. The roughness of the Tracy Ullman shorts is still a bit present in the first two seasons. The rapid-fire humour starts from season 3. For the first three seasons, there's generally a heart-warming ending every or every other episode, and the tone is grounded. In season 4, the pace is a bit faster, making things feel more fun and dynamic, the heart-warming endings are infrequent (which were admittedly smultzy and repetitive to a distinct degree), and there's zaniness sprinkled a bit throughout episodes, leading to more outrageous and funnier humour.
I think seasons 4, 5, 6, and also 19 are the funniest seasons.
@@tornadochaser2457 But season 2 still has emotional episodes with "Bart Gets an 'F'" and "Lisa's Substitute" and the slower pace helps with letting the emotional scenes play out like they should. Although, golden age Simpsons has other emotional episodes throughout. "Lisa on Ice" and "Mother Simpson" are also really good ones when it comes to that.

Happy to see you continuing with this series! Most people would generally consider seasons 2-10 (plus or minus a few seasons) to be the show's "golden age", and assuming copyright doesn't become an issue I'd recommend watching at least through then. I've watched the whole series and have pretty consistently enjoyed it up through the current season, but the criticisms the show has had are definitely understandable. I'd love to see you go through the whole series, but don't feel obligated to do so if at some point you're just not into it anymore.

The Simpsons never gets old.
The first season is very rough. It’s a lot more noticeable upscale to HD. It’s hard to watch now without noticing all the animation errors. The link-work were messy and you can even see lines that shouldn’t be there above the characters. The proportions were off at times. I understand the show had an uncertain future at the time and the budget was very small. The show was first of its kind during the era for cartoons. During that time, pretty much all cartoons were based on toys. The Simpson wasn’t just the very first adult animated series but the first original animated series since a very long time. The Simpson are credited for bringing back creative driven cartoons rather than commercials controlled by corporate.
I heard the animation errors in this season were because Matt Groening and his crew were low on funds at the time. That's why stuff like Waylon Smithers changes from black to yellow along with his blue hair that's later changed to grey. Milhouse also has black hair in "Bart the Genius," even though it's blue hair in other episodes this season including during his appearance in "Bart the General" at 16:53.

For your own sanity, I would strongly recommend continuing but NOT committing to the entire series (or even most of it). This show has a very distinct peak period where it's brilliant and a jump off point where it becomes unwatchably terrible (and the bad period has lasted for dozens of seasons by this point).
I would suggest aiming to commit to seasons 1-8 (for the record, the show does not hit the ground running in season 1, in fact it doesn't 100% hit its stride until season 3, though 2 has some excellent episodes), and then only continuing for as long as you still enjoy it after that. seasons 8-12 are fairly weak, but around season 13-14 is when it really gets irredeemably bad. The movie was somewhat of a return to form, but it doesn't compare to the show's best seasons.
