This long-running animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield in an unnamed U.S. state. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbour, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum.

Another never-ending ride, just like SpongeBob. The early seasons of this show are some of the best that television has to offer, with equal parts humor and heart. I hope you enjoy it.
Agree I hope he stops reacting to both of them after their prime
Also can we just acknowledge the fact on how Cody has never seen The Simpsons series before
I agree 1,000 percent with that statement
I think the bad seasons of The Simpsons are worse than SpongeBob worst seasons. Season 16 to present are the most boring, dull, unaspiring episodes ever. It got worse as the series continued to grow in age. As soon they decided to make a much episodes centered around the family traveling to a certain country and redoing plots that already been done. That’s you know the show went downhill. At lease the bad seasons of SpongeBob, it’s still fun and entertaining to watch, not much recycling and creative. I rather watch wild, mean, weird, gross out SpongeBob fun than the uncreative, boring, same old stuff, less interesting that’s New Simpsons.
Oh, yes. The earlier seasons are the best
@@fantasy-artist4425 Cody said he wants to at least react to SpongeBob season 4.
Season 1 was definitely a very early season of The Simpsons. After The Simpsons shorts were such a big hit on The Tracy Ullman Show, FOX and Matt Groening decided “Hell, why not make it an entire TV show?”. In all honesty it was a pretty good idea. Without it we would have classic moments or these classic episodes. Which by the way, Bart is still my favorite character.
FYI, Simpsons episodes were often aired out of order from production. This is airing order.
Production Order 'Some Enchanted Evening' is episode 1 and the Christmas episode is mid-season
Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire was produced sixth, I think.
*Eighth*
The Simpsons Wiki has a list of episodes by production order page if you really care.
That's because the animation in the first episode had to be redone, but Fox still wanted to get at least one episode out in 1989.
Yes! Please continue with The Simpsons. I've been hoping someone would do this.
Homer’s catch phrase: D’oh!
20:53 due to the original first episode having many animation errors the first season was postponed, this resulted in the Christmas episode being the first one to air but not the first one written. As a result the dog doesn't appear in a lot of season one episodes since they were written before the Xmas episode
The unaired version of "Some Enchanted Evening" is the show's true pilot episode, outside of the shorts, and is included as a special feature on The Complete First Season DVD. I'm pretty it's online now too if you look hard enough for it.
Isn't it strange that their very first episode was a Christmas Special
It's also interesting how many changes a lot of characters have been through before modern-day
Lisa used to act like Bart, even doing prank calls, and before being vegan
And Homer was less dumb, did his job for once, and was a strict dad but he's still Homer
And Marge's voice was very different and less raspy
Mr Smithers was black with blue hair
Mr Burns voice was different
It is because the simpsons was originally a sketch on another comedy show that got so popular than the original show. So the Simpsons is the most popular Spin-Off ever.
That’s also the funny thing Bart was meant to be the main character and you can tell from early S1 a lot of Bart episodes or something to do with Bart, it wasn’t till people watched the show that the creator started seeing people liking Homer more than Bart and when you think of Homer was the first successful TV dad to kick off the dumb dad trope
Yeah, the colors are weird and even Matt Groening himself admitted in a 2014 interview that Waylon Smithers, Jr. was always meant to be yellow, but animators painted him the wrong color and, because they were low on funds at the time, they could not afford a retake.
@@andykishoreEven Lou the police officer used to be yellow before changing to black in season 2 and the same goes for the Judge of Springfield
Yes, Cody, every single episode's intro up to the very current one has an individual blackboard gag and a new couch gag.
Actually, many of the couch gags are repeated. This season has five couch gags, them being no couch gag, the couch breaking, Bart flying into the air, Maggie flying up and being caught on Marge's lap, and Homer being squeezed out.
I love that they did that
Yeah, they actually did start on The Tracy Ullman show.
27:00
Moe's prank call gag, I've missed this so much
I AM SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY YOURE WATCHING THIS!!!
this show has such a special place in my heart!
watching it as a kid with my dad is a core memory that ill cherish forever
all the laughs weve had, the jokes weve shared with each other.
sadly not as good as it used to be season 1-8 are all perfect, maybe 9 and 10 if im being generous
but regardless, I love this show with all my heart
I love the Simpsons the best piece of television
I miss the old episodes of the Simpsons can't wait to see more
The early seasons are quite wholesome... It's a weird balance between humor and wholesome. I have up to season 20 on DVD.😂
i can't believe you've finally sitting down and watching the Simpsons, I've been hoping for this since I saw your reaction to the Simpsons' movie. loved your reaction.
Very excited for Simpsons reactions. I would also highly recommend Futurama, its also made by Matt Groening.
Hope you enjoy it, The Simpsons has always been a fun classic for me. The first season’s animation is kinda rough but it gets better later on especially by season 2, also gets more and more funny. His series has brought lots of joy to me over the years, hope it brings lots of fun to you. 💛
I CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE WATCHING MY FAVORITE SHOW THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE THANK YOU SO MUCH CODY , I WATCHED WHOLE BIG BANG THEORY AND YOUNG SHELDON I CANT BELIEVE IT OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Holy Simpsons thanks Cody for reacting to the Simpsons legend 😂🔥💯
Ready for the journey
8:25 75 dollars? In that decade?
I didn't even pay 75 dollars for my last live tree ~2019
I did see the fancy Firs for 75 bucks but I remember paying 40 for a mid-teir tree... then buying a really good fake one after Christmas for 75% off.
It’s crazy that this show started back in 1989 and it’s still ongoing till this day. Sure the modern eps may not be as good and hilarious like the first few seasons but hey, at least the simpsons are still at least decently funny unlike modern Family Guy.
Also yes, in every intro of the simpsons, Bart always writes something different. Including the coach gag is different 😄
I absolutely love The Simpsons, not to mention this moment at 23:04 always gets me laughing!!
Loved the reaction Cody!!
Yes! In a short while, Cody will react to the greatest scene in existence: steamed hams.
I thought we were having steamed clams
22 short films about Springfield. He's got a few seasons to go.
@@gregwodzynski941 yep that season 7. He’s got 6 seasons to go
Season 7 for that scene.
That was a great segment
9:21 Doh 😖 🤣🤣
1989, and this show is still going strong
Strong isn't the word I'd use
@@solstice003I respect your opinion, modern seasons do have flaws that I can overlook
'87 if you include the TU shorts😉
@@reneeg9406it was going stronger like SpongeBob!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
some shows have continued since 80s or 90s we don't know if simpsons Last season Will be season 40 or season 50 but if some day in near future simpsons make a Last season for all the loyal simpson fans then we can finaly say thank you simpson from all the episodes and good memories you started back in 1989
Was legit waiting for this from u. Soooo worth it. I love this show so much
This is awesome! Simpsons is like my tv version of comfort food. I’ve watched all of them
More times than I can count and they still make me laugh and you’ll still find hidden jokes and things you missed all the other times.I really hope you keep this going the show really is unlike any other. It has more heart, depth, intelligence and humor than a lot of people realize. It actually has one of the most highly educated writing staff of near any show and you cannot possibly list the amount of famous people who’ve done voices. My favorite is Johnny Cash but there’s literally hundreds.
I really hope you continue this or if not the very least maybe get suggestions of favorites (I know you said a big commitment but seriously underestimating there- the season 34 finale will mark the 750th episode and it’s been renewed through at least season 36 which will put it over 800) so even with 5 episodes per show it’d be like 150.
Please note I’m not in anyway trying to discourage it- I will happily watch and comment on every single one and I really hope you do keep going because there really is SO much wonderful content.
Wonderful video please keep them coming!
I'm your spirit guide .
Find your soulmate.
This is just your memory, I can't give you any new information.
Wow, that a journey this will be!
Fun fact: the first episode was going to be the "evil babysitter" one but, they cut it cuz, the animation was inconsistent (hence that one scene where she's ordering Bart to put in the tape/ DVD, she's strangely animated really well. They had to scrap like 80% of the ep to start again) So, they had the first episode to randomly be a Christmas ep
Wow, the art style changed a lot between then and now. I guess that's the difference between digital and cell animation for you.
I'm ready to experience the Simpsons with you.
The animation picked up quite a bit in the second season and by 4 it was pretty well established- from there till they switch from cell animation (one of the last shows to do it) it’s near impossible to tell what season an. Episode is from.
@@mistyrose-yf4do The animation became good and truly refined in early season 4, once the show officially got past the Klasky Csupo animation.
We are ready for the Simpsons!
Love me some Simpsons. I remember the first season very well. My dad loved them before he passed away. Thank you for reaching to this!
I hate to say this but i don’t think Cody is gonna continue with this show due to all the annoying copyrights
@@LiamCameron294 Well this one has not been copyright blocked, but the copyright blocks on other stuff is why he's very picky about what shows he wants to continue or make exclusive to Patreon.
@@andykishore it must be very hard to pick what shows Cody wants to continue
To see where they actually started, you should watch the shorts that were on the Tracey Ullman show. Ran for 2 years before The Simpsons was officially made its own show
Talk about rough animation 😉
I wonder how long this will take. I've considered a binge watch, myself, but never had the energy.
I find it funny when people say ______ season through ______ season is my favorite show. I see that more as those are their favorite seasons of a show they like or have fond memories of. No one's favorite show is _The Simpsons_ anymore. I've never seen anyone say they love all seasons of _The Simpsons_ enough for it to be their favorite show. That will be an interesting day if it happens. Perhaps it will, as a reply to this comment.
I love _Buffy the Vampire Slayer._ There are some seasons and episodes I love more than others, but I enjoy the show as a whole. Even the moments (seasons and episodes) that aren't as good as others. That's how I see a favorite show vs just favorite moments from a show, like people do _The Simpsons._
Simpson's is my favorite show of all time. If I ever had a daughter I would name her Maggie. I'm someone who enjoys this show as much today as I did 35 years ago. Btw Buffy is also in my Top 10 favorite tv shows of all time.
@@gregwodzynski941 The interesting day I mention in the first comment arrived. I didn't think I'd ever see it. Too many people harp of the "better days" for me to have believed people like you were out there.
Now I'm curious where on that top 10 list BtVS is?

11:02 This bugle call will always make me think of the "healthier than a horse" skit from _Family Guy._
Love this! Looking forward to the next decade!
It is not gonna take 10 years to do this show lol
Omg! My favorite show of all time!!! I’m so glad you decided to react to the Simpsons. The golden era of the show is definitely season 1 - 11. Also heck yeah, please react to the rest of the golden era at least
Yeah.
Did you like Season 11? It is by far my least favourite of the first fifteen seasons. I'm glad that the show didn't end on it. Behind The Laughter was designed as the final episode, but I wouldn't have liked to miss everything that came after.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 I’ll admit even though a lot of people don’t like season 11, there are some episodes I do like. Overall I would consider season 12 the beginning of the down fall. I do like to think of behind the laughter as a series finale
This show is absolutely iconic! Best show from Fox!
18:14 well you’re damned if you do if you’re damned if you don’t 😅
5:38 Am I dreaming, this music is also in SpongeBob
I noticed that.
Timestamps for episodes:
2:05 Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire
12:20 Bart The Genius
23:11 Homers Oddessy
Thanks.
Some key episodes from older seasons marge vs monorail, mr. plow, who shot mr burns, last exit to Springfield
Bart Gets An F, Cape Feare, Homers Enemy, City of New York vs Homer Simpson, are some other ones
@@ManAndDogFan777 Those are essential too. Two Thousand One Greyhounds I'd add. Cody needs to watch Marge Be Not Proud around Christmas and Mother Simpson for mother's day. All the emotional episodes like Lisa's Substitute, And Maggie Makes Three, and of course a few Treehouse of Horrors for halloween
I love And Maggie Makes Three its such a great episode
@@ManAndDogFan777 There's so many great episodes from the classic seasons.
He's pretty far off from all these episodes except Bart Gets An F. Season 4 is full of fan favourites and Cape Feare was a holdover from Season 4 that established what Season 5 was going to be like at its best.
"Where's their dog?" Yeah, this was a very common practice with cartoons back in the day. As long as they didn't a follow a plot, studios could air the episodes in any order they wanted, so the first episode produced wouldn't necessarily be the first episode aired. I think the first episode is officially episode 8 or 10 or something along those lines. Can't remember, but the first episode officially produced is nearing the end of the season.
The production 1st episode was the last episode of season 1 actually. Shows usually tend to go in airing order instead of production order
8:15 Apparently, it was common practice for relatives to do that to kids in the old days, as recently there's been material published to educate kids on how to say "no" to such advances.
8:30 Here in Australia, we generally use plastic trees, which... may have been a worse idea in hindsight. With that said, we source real pine trees from Norfolk Island, which has them growing aplenty, to the point where there's even a pine tree on their flag.
yesss, please continue, ill be so excited for the all the holiday specials
21:07, they neutralize each other. That’s what happens when you mix acids and bases.
Favourite show! Let’s go, I probably watched every episode at least 3 times by now lol
I can’t wait for you to watch episodes 11 and 12. Those are my favorite season 1 episodes
He's done it again! :D
I Remember The Season One and Still Have It On DVD

Almost no one makes a complete reaction to the whole yellow family, I will be watching your videos, I love The Simpsons so much I hope you enjoy them!
one fact: idk if it's possible to change the format on disney+, but in those years 4:3 was used and not 16:9 as you're seeing, which would be a cut where you may miss things, if you can i recommend do it
Archer is a great cartoon show its rude like family guy but with secret agents and the voice of archer is the same person who voices Bob from bobs burgers
OMG, yesterday I looked to see if anyone had reacted to the first seasons of The Simpsons and I couldn't find anyone, and today you come up with this video, it was exactly what I wanted, it will certainly motivate others to do the same.
Really looking forward to The Simpsons reactions. Especially the classic Treehouse of Horror specials.
I really hope you continue reacting to the rest of the show I’m excited for it❤

Such a great show. Glad to see you're starting it.
Now you’re reacting to the Simpsons you’ll laugh at Homer’s “Doh” I’m telling you they are the funniest even the prank calls Bart does to Moe.

THIS JUST MADE MY DAY
Ah, the good old days, when Homer was closer to how most normal dads are in real life - a little goofy, but generally an actually competent parent. Think Bandit Heeler, for example, maybe *a little* stricter.
Basically, Homer was intended as a subversion of the stereotypical strict uptight father that was conventional of sitcoms of the time, such as Willie from _ALF_ and Henry from _Punky Brewster,_ who in turn were likely based on the fathers and grandfathers of those shows' creators, as I've heard said fathers were more common in the early-to-mid 20th century. But over time, the show kept over-emphasising the quirky/goofy side of Homer, to the point where he essentially became a manchild, and now it's more refreshing to see *that* trope subverted, like with the aforementioned Bandit from _Bluey,_ Pete from _The Ghost and Molly McGee,_ and Agustín from _Encanto,_ to name examples.
Admittedly, with my upcoming _Adele_ comic, the titular protagonist's father is kind of a mix of Henry and Willie, sort of harkening back to the strict 50s father trope, but I'm planning to give him more character besides just being an uptight grump, if that makes sense. Like, he's at least good enough a father that Adele looks up to him *to an extent,* unlike my own father, who's basically a mix of Dudley from _Little Britain,_ Libby's dad from _The Ghost and Molly McGee,_ and Professor Lockhart from the second _Harry Potter_ book/movie.
I remember Christmas episode I have all Sampsons old video tapes. I remember years go after school I watch Sampsons on TV. Hope you do all episodes you will enjoy them
Every couch gag it's different in each episode!
Same goes for the phrase Bart Simpson writes on the chalkboard.
same with tune of the saxophone that Lisa’s is playing, starting with season 3. Season 1 and 2 have the same tune in every in the season
This is sure to be a fun experience
Yes, finally! It's hard to find someone who hasn't seen the Simpsons yet, let alone who's interested in reacting to it and I'm pretty sure this makes you the only one (to actually watch the show from the beginning, that is), so far (?). You don't really need to keep watching after season 10 as far as I'm concerned (and I think a lot of people would agree), but up to that point, "The Simpsons" is an absolute must-see (seriously, in terms of its influence and status as a classic nowadays, I'd go so far as to liken it to Shakespeare comedies or something like that, you know, the kind of thing one 's forced to read at school... and probably should be (due to its importance) 😄)
