What I absolutely love about this series, is how informative it is as well as being interesting. I think police working with car content TH-camrs has been a long time coming. I’ve always felt the police have missed a trick when it comes to working with people in the car scene. Amazing work 👍🏼 I am all for having fun, as long as it is safe. As they say ‘ it’s all shits and giggles is until someone giggles and shits’.
Pull over when safe. Engine off and key on the dash. Window down and give licence or details when asked. Do not be rude or a dick... if we have spotted an offence you're possibly getting a ticket for it, but a good attitude might get you out of it. If you have been pulled over without an offence being committed, your attitude might result in the officer finding something wrong with your car and giving you a ticket for it. A perfect example was an uber driving was pulled over for the manner of his driving. It was arguably without due care. He acted the child and refused to take any ownership, and before you know it he was being reported for a variety of offences, and a trained traffic officer gave his vehicle a once over and prohibited it. Some people think its "pandering". It isnt. If you give off the impression that you understand what I am saying and why it needs to be fixed, why do I need to send you to court? If however, I get the impression you think I am wasting your time then you obviously do not understand why the issue needs fixing, and the court can argue it out. The attitude test is slowly dying out across England because there are too many people saying cops are pulling cars over without issuing tickets, and this is because words of advice are given. I imagine within the next five years or so, words of advice won't be a thing- so may as well abuse it whilst you can! (Obviously sometimes you cannot get yourself out of a ticket. Insurance. Licence. That sort of stuff)

I know you’ve done a lot on tints. But can you ask about chameleon tint/Colour tint. On all windows. 100% light can go through but it’s red for example
If 100% of light can go through, it wouldn't be red. In order for a tint to be red coloured, it MUST be absorbing wavelengths of light OTHER than red (red is the only colour reflected back, hence you see it). It's impossible to have a colour with 100% passthrough, you wouldn't even be able to see glass with 100%.
I don't know about red chameleon tints - but iridium tints still block light (approx 50%) sufficiently enough to fail a test. For example ultrafilms chameleon tint lets through 78% but as you saw putting it against a factory window can result in only 52% of light being transmitted, which is a fail
Is there a legal limit to how loud your stereo is? I have a full sound system in a cavalier (not that it’s turned up while driving) but out of curiosity is there a decibel limit of such that you can have it turned up to?
Flamer kit act 2020! 😂 lol! Owen's clearly an enthusiast like us, would the average officer would know if someone was running an external WG and/or no cat. Asking for a friend! 😎👍
I don't understand how he can be an enthusiast without occasionally breaking the laws he works to enforce. Every car enthusiast has booted the throttle on the road at least a few times, nobody spends time and money modifying a road car just to pottle around like a 17 year old with a black-box. I don't condone driving like a twat in built up area's, obviously, but no car enthusiast can tell me with a straight face, that they've never broken the speed limit, or never screeched their tyres "by accident"... Yes, I get they label it all as "accident reduction" and I totally agree that if you cause an accident and hurt people then it's all on you and you should get what's coming to you, but if you didn't hurt anybody during your momentary "anti-social driving" at the local Saturday night car meet and the whole argument is about "oh, but what if this happened..." or "you've upset Dorothy with your loud noises!" then there shouldn't really be a case against you IMO. At the end of the day, I'd put money on the majority of fatal road collisions being down to drunk/tired/distracted drivers, not car enthusiasts booting it (not saying it doesn't happen, but in comparison it's no contest).
Police opinion on aftermarket LED lighting would be a good topic to cover in the next one - that's a mod that potentially has a direct impact on everyone else's driving! A lot of newer cars with LEDs from factory are just as blinding, if not more so than supposed "illegal" kits/kelvins... How would they know to spot and pull you? And would they even bother?
Please ask what's the police's thoughts about jenvey individual throttle bodies on the road with rowdy cams 13:5:1 compression. Big valve head etc. Lsd. Dta ecu etc
Yes, good one, my mk8 St has those if I use the mapping button to get to 'sport' mode, but if I simply switch off the ESC , I get sport mode without the louder exhaust, result !!, if I could I would have the pops and bangs mapped out, but that would be a modification.

This is a great series! Respect to Officer Owen for doing this and helping the community! As someone new to the car scene I was wondering is doing an EGR delete illegal?
EGR is part of your emissions controls. Current MOT rules say if it isn't fitted or doesn't work then it's a fail. And if your car can't pass an MoT at any time and you've been pulled by a copper (with knowledge and a grudge) they can issue prohibition notice or a VDRS which means getting the EGR put back on to be allowed to continue using the vehicle. If you speak to him again could you ask him about 3D/4D number plates as my mate had them on and he got a 100 pound fine but when he rang dvla and had a look on the dvla website there was nothing saying that you could not have them on the vehicle
Be worth getting him to explain in a video how traffic stops SHOULD be conducted by officers and what rights etc the person being pulled has. Many people still have no idea about what they are obligated to do and what they are not when being pulled over under the road traffic act
Yes, engine swaps are legal, an engineers report is usually required for the insurance and the DVLA have to be notified. Emissions... can't remember, best check with DVLA but I think it depends on age of engine or vehicle (the older applies).
Interesting the police officer is doing some aspects of an mot tester routine during a test. However there really isnt a need. You need an mot to drive the vehicle on the road. However some parts of an mot that would pass and advise the officer would pull you over to check or ticket. So this brings the question what good is an mot if one person says it's ok for an officer to say it isnt.
i like your green fog lights. i have seen cars with tinted headlights and rear lights i understand legally lights have to emit at least 50% of the light. i also seen you have a cage and harness, i have similar set up in my gt-four. can you ask about cages and harness etc keep up good videos
So I have a question. What about when you have a modified car and your visiting England? Does your car then need to comply with English road and safety?
@@chrissmith3378 oh that's an interesting one. Because in the Netherlands we can put an exhaust cut out on the car so it passes everything but it needs to be on a valve system and u can't use it on the road. I have that On my car but I don't think I can do that in England or am I wrong?
@@GwnSerchan if you have it on a value and don't use it on the road you might be OK - the bit of legislation that gets you is exhaust gasses have to pass through a catalytic converter and silencer if they need to do so for a MOT (to be road legal)

Cops, Picanto drivers are not trying to be anti social, they're just a ****ing awful car. Great video
From personal experience; yes. However if not being used to suggest a hazard, then don't use it on the road. Got pulled for having strobe hazards on in the grille in Blackpool by Traffic Cops. Fortunately they were decent so breathalyser and a nice chat and was on my way, with the lights turned off..
As a trainee police officer who also loves owning and modifying cars, this series is very helpful and informative. The last thing I want to do is lose my job haha
Are HGVs exempt from the lighting laws? The number that have really bright additional lights on the van is ridiculous, including blue! Can be very distracting in the dark and poor weather conditions!
How much of this applies to older cars that are pre-2001, specifically the exhaust systems and noise levels? Also, if a tyre is DOT approved or has come from Asia and has legal tread but isn't E marked is it illegal?
Is water/methanol injection legal on the road? If I get pulled and they see the tank in the boot but the system is switch off and is used for track days only what would be the outcome?
Ooo the colour bit would get me now like I had a seat arosa and my mate thought it would be a idea to paint it with a roller and hammer rite one time while I was asleep. I got pulled over, they questioned the paint as did I when I first seen it, the paint was rough and he ran out of paint when he got near the back so half the roof was silver, the spoiler and the boot was silver, so after a good laugh we agreed I hadnt/wasn't doing anything illegal and I was in my way
@@josheckley7333 not really no. Classic car's can have pressed black plates. That's it really. Problem is anything that can confusing ampr or traffic camera then it's not legal. Basically you have to have what comes from the factory.
Question for Owen in a next video: What do the police think about insurance companies that say they are for modified/performance/classic cars? I'd like to know as I think some regular car insurance companies don't allow modifications to a car and if they do, it's a vast increase in price that will put off younger drivers getting into the hobby.

What about an exhaust cut off? I'm assuming it falls under the same issues with waste gates and screamer pipes?
Very cool and intelligent policeman👍
Can you go over seats and steering wheels what is legal etc
Can you have window tint if you have a convertible I have limo tints on mine
what about lift kits on 4x4
i like your green fog lights.
i have seen cars with tinted headlights and rear lights i understand legally lights have to emit at least 50% of the light.
i also seen you have a cage and harness, i have similar set up in my gt-four. can you ask about cages and harness etc
keep up good videos
What about dpf deletes / rolling coal??
Can you ask about windscreen stickers
So I have a question. What about when you have a modified car and your visiting England? Does your car then need to comply with English road and safety?
Everything has to be compliant with our legislation so yes and every car manufacture has to do all of this before they even start building a new car.
@@CED99 yeh true but in some. Country's I think Germany it's illegal to have it under the car
bucket seats, steering wheels and harnesses?
Absolutely true
Bring Neons back!
I've got a (temporarily) Picanto 0.sh*t and to get it off the line you have to rev the nuts off it, slip the clutch, keep your foot down, get to 4000rpm and change to second (preferably without letting off the go pedal), and keep accelerating. Cops, Picanto drivers are not trying to be anti social, they're just a ****ing awful car. Great video
Can you have an orange strobelight on the roof like some safety cars have?
From personal experience; yes. However if not being used to suggest a hazard, then don't use it on the road.
Got pulled for having strobe hazards on in the grille in Blackpool by Traffic Cops.
Fortunately they were decent so breathalyser and a nice chat and was on my way, with the lights turned off..
As a trainee police officer who also loves owning and modifying cars, this series is very helpful and informative. The last thing I want to do is lose my job haha
i have a bunch of pretty unique questions relating to a classic car/restomod and legalities, where can i ask them for the next video?
In the next video of this series could you find out about canards, aero splitters and diffusers? cheers!
Are HGVs exempt from the lighting laws? The number that have really bright additional lights on the van is ridiculous, including blue! Can be very distracting in the dark and poor weather conditions!
Wasn’t this pretty much the same as the last one
What's the deal with TH-cam videos blatantly showing a driver speeding?
I don’t get the tint bit…..
You should put red Ford badges on the front back and wheel of the car it makes the front a lot nicer 😁
It’s now the DVSA as well as the DVLA with licensing
Ooo the colour bit would get me now like I had a seat arosa and my mate thought it would be a idea to paint it with a roller and hammer rite one time while I was asleep. I got pulled over, they questioned the paint as did I when I first seen it, the paint was rough and he ran out of paint when he got near the back so half the roof was silver, the spoiler and the boot was silver, so after a good laugh we agreed I hadnt/wasn't doing anything illegal and I was in my way
You have to tell them if you’ve fitted a Seat Arouser upgrade.
@@adriankingdon3055 was far from arousing mate
can you do one about number plates? are 4d plates illegal and what is legal?
Number plate is a very tight law's. Basically if the numbers aren't correctly distance apart or the right size and shape then it's not legal.
@@chriscollins550 Are they allowed to be 4d?
@@josheckley7333 not really no. Classic car's can have pressed black plates. That's it really. Problem is anything that can confusing ampr or traffic camera then it's not legal. Basically you have to have what comes from the factory.
@@chriscollins550 Okay thank you. 😊
Guy said in another video that 4d plates are fine
Question for Owen in a next video: What do the police think about insurance companies that say they are for modified/performance/classic cars? I'd like to know as I think some regular car insurance companies don't allow modifications to a car and if they do, it's a vast increase in price that will put off younger drivers getting into the hobby.
