In this excerpt, Plagueis takes this opportunity to meet Palpatine. A man who's been interested in him ever since he first heard about him. Plagueis learned that Tapalo had an informant in the rival campaign who provided him with vital information. His agents discovered that the informant was a seventeen-year-old student in the Legislative Youth Program called Palpatine, the son of the man who stood most fervently against Tapalo and his ilk, Cosinga Palpatine. Eager to know more about the young man, Plagueis convinced him when they met at the Legislative Program's Theed headquarters to give him a tour of the town in his prized speeder.
"Palpatine."
"How do you know my name?"
"I know more about you than just your name."
I love this little encounter.

This one meeting permanently changed Palpatine forever. If there was never Darth Plagueis there would’ve never been Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine.
Just like if Qui-Gon had never met Anakin.
It's interesting to think of all the alternatives that could happen.
@@buntsbooks That’s what I love about Star Wars. It’s lore is gigantic and there are so many possibilities for each character.
@@buntsbooks Or how the kindness of a bartender led to Dessel joining the Brotherhood of Darkness. Later, he became Darth Bane and set the Sith Grand Plan into motion.
Hearing this book for the first time. It made my day. Told my Gf to buy it for me❤️💯huge Star Wars fan.
Everyone has an Origin even Darth Sidious i like how the Narrator of Palpatine sounds like a Young Ian McDiarmid
How the galaxy shifted when these two meet.
Y'know if this was novel were to be adaptide into a mini-series liveaction or animated and had people who respect the source material this could be one of the best thing to ever come out of the Disney Era of Star Wars
Disney the type to take the best of Star wars and the surname palpatine and butcher it and gave it to a non deserving Karen making it non canon imo
I'm pretty sure the Acolyte, and a lot of alreadybestablosjed canon tbh, will end up contradicting a lot of the smaller details of this book
But Plagueis is still a Muun and still Palpatine's master, so it's somewhat possible
It's so weird to see/read about such an..."innocent" Palpatine.
A matter of mannerism.
Just imagine if Plagueis took an interest in one of Palpatine's siblings instead. 💀

I'm pretty sure Sidious would have him/her murdered. He had already obtained ancient Sith lore, artifacts and holocrons and he was determined to follow their path no matter the cost.
@@Facade953 I mean we don't even know if anyone else in Palpatine was force sensitive although its likely at least one of his parents was (most those able to use the force have a genetic predisposition)

I know the kind of being Palpatine will become and still i say that i would like to have him as a friend.
I think everyone who watched Monster or Hannibal felt the urge to befriend Johan Liebert or Hannibal Lecter, despite knowing what they truly are. As much as we fear the dark and know its dangers, there's still always something enticing about it.
Disney needs to adapt this novel into a miniseries
I would've liked that. But I'm afraid they would mess it up.

@@buntsbooks Thanks for posting snippets. By far my favourite StarWars novel. Too bad Disney made it legends and we will probably never get a decent story about Darth Plagueis. Would have preffered that the sequal trilogy revealed Snoke to have been Plagueis, fulfulling his desire to cheat death and wait to reveal himself after Palpatines death at the hands of Vader. That sequal trilogy would make a lot more sense then just randomly bringing back the Emperor for the 9th episode, there had been no forshadowing to Sidious return at all. Not in 7 nor 8, i remember watching the Force Awakens and thinking (about Snoke) that has to be Plagueis deformed from his assassination by Palpatine. But Plagueis ”death” was just part of his masterplan to rule the galaxy once Palpatine failed. Wich Im sure Plagueis knew would happen, being so wise as he was. This book and Episode 3 build him up to feel like an unseen menace hence the Phantom Menace. Just my opinion
@@AdromedaJoel Np! Not only am I doing this for myself, but also for the Expanded Universe lovers. There aren't many individuals posting audiobook excerpts. The Expanded Universe isn't mentioned as much as the New Canon, which I guess is fine. It accomplished a tremendous deal, and most tend to agree with this assessment of the new Disney Canon.
Also, this too is my favorite Star Wars novel.
@@buntsbooksYeah! My whole thing is since this is all fiction, we as fans choose what is canon to us. A company, especially one the creator of the series is highly against now, doesn’t have the personal right to tell us what is the truth of a fictional universe.

If Plaigueis was already 100 years when he met a 17 year old Palpatine. There is a strong chance that he was already an active sith during the twilight years of the old republic.
May he'll appear in the upcoming Acolyte series. Only that can save this dead-on-arrival show!
But acolyte takes place in high republic era which is 1000 years before phantom menace so plagueis wasn't around

Plagueis would of been better off if he took Dooku as his apprentice instead of Sidious yeah Sids may have a higher potential then Dooku but Dooku has a much more similar vision to Plagueis plus Dookus potential is also a little higher then Plagueis if Plagueis saw Dooku even as a Jedi as insurance should Sids fail him in a big way while he did not see Maul, Sifo Dyas, Nor Qui Gon in that way. Plus much like Plagueis Dooku was also into learning the higher mysteries of the force as a Jedi And Sith and Plagueis also wanted to do away with the rule of two which I am sure Dooku would agree with I could still see Maul being the assassin for them although Dooku would not be as mean to Maul as Plagueis Nor Sidious were and would encourage Maul to also train Asajj and Asajj to train Grievous yeah.
