It's slimy because okra is used to thicken it. The type you said you preferred ( I do as well ) uses gumbo file, a powdered spice to thicken it with. Next time you visit you'll know to ask how they make it to get the one you like. Oh and that shrimp and the oysters looked so damn delicious!

That food looked delicious. You should definitely do more videos from New Orleans. Creole cuisine isn't nearly as spicy as Cajun cuisine. The jambalaya you had was a creole jambalaya, it's tomato based and lightly spicy. Thanks for including desserts as well. New Orleans has the best bread pudding. My hometown takes cooking seriously. Another great video!

Out of all the videos of places that you have been to this one is the only one that I have seen that you have actually had a lot of fun eating and just literally like being a kid. Where everywhere else that you have been to you you’re eating and enjoying everything but the difference is is that you look like you’re having tons of fun.
I miss traveling to New Orleans each year so much I had to rewatch this episode. :( it looked so delicious. And I love how everyone is so nice there. Walking by handing you towels, recommending sipping your bread in heart stopping gravy. I miss waking up there with my eyes swollen from eating everything sodium and butter rich. kameron markey There are different types of gumbos and different shades of gumbos. Not all gumbos look like muddy swamp water because not all gumbos use a dark brown roux.
its urboimcditty you HAVE to try them. I went on a spring break trip with my family and we went to cafe du monde, they give you three with a choice of hot coco, coffee, or orange juice. They STACK it with powdered sugar. The workers are also really nice, we took a picture with our waiter, it was great.

I went to Clesi's on your recommendation when I was New Orleans in March. I was not disappointed. The food was nice and spicy, the drinks were strong and the atmosphere was right up my alley. This will be a staple stop from now on. Thanks Mike!

N’awlins is a food mecca & I fell in love w/it’s eccentricity & soul. NO place like it...crawfish pies, boudin, muffulettas from Central Grocery, snowballs, crab stew, & a roast beef po boy w/ “debris” (gravy)!
Dip your beignet in your coffee next time. It'll be bittersweet. Don't worry about the fallen sugar the birds love it, last time I was there I shared Beignets with the birds.
I’m glad you enjoyed touring my hometown!! When you come back you have to try Big EZ Seafood. They are right outside of New Orleans and they serve an Asian Cajun inspired crawfish. They are delicious, worth the 10 minute drive!

Love You Mike! I literally woke up my 7 y.o. daughter to watch the shrimp head eating! We eat whole shrimp at least once a week at a cajun place (in Minnesota) and are the only white chicks devouring the head and legs. When you said the head was your favorite my girl was so excited. Gumbo Shop is ok, a bit of a tourist trap. Try Prejean's in Lafeyette for really nice dark gumbo!

Go to Downtown LA and check out The Jewel of New Orleans. They got poboys, boudin and gator stew. It's worth the trip.

Definitely, lafayettes food is almost as good as my home town in Lafourche parish. I never ate a good gumbo in N.O.

For oysters you definitely have to eat at Drago’s, it’s a bit ok he expensive side but worth the money
I prefer Felix Restaurant and Oyster Bar.

Wow pho duck ...what a nice plate with rice and pork the flavours complement the texture on the plate aswell..thisis why i love French style comfort foods.
Just beautiful place and properly made food there ,being Australian the seafoods would be a highlight they give you heaps.
