Born in Louisiana and lived here most of my life. I hear you about the slimy gumbo, most people will say that's the traditional way to make it and it is. It's slimy because okra is used to thicken it. The type you said you preferred ( I do as well ) uses gumbo file, a powdered spice to thicken it with. Next time you visit you'll know to ask how they make it to get the one you like. Oh and that shrimp and the oysters looked so damn delicious!

That food looked delicious. You should definitely do more videos from New Orleans. Creole cuisine isn't nearly as spicy as Cajun cuisine. The jambalaya you had was a creole jambalaya, it's tomato based and lightly spicy. Thanks for including desserts as well. New Orleans has the best bread pudding. My hometown takes cooking seriously. They STACK it with powdered sugar. The workers are also really nice, we took a picture with our waiter, it was great.

I ate at that crawfish place last year. There ain't damn seasoning on those crawdaddies. Plain as hell. We had to ask for melted butter. What crawfish place you know, doesn't come with some kind of garlic butter or even just normal melted butter? If you think thats good crawfish then you haven't had good crawfish

Yeah it’s great cause a lot of those places have a house blend seasoning oil for the crawfish, dry Cajun spice seasoning, garlic butter seasoning, or plain boil mostly from what I’ve seen in Houston. Plus it comes in a bag so I feel boujie’ eating it of course 😂😩

Gumbo Shop is ok, a bit of a tourist trap. Try Prejean's in Lafeyette for really nice dark gumbo!
