    If your Reverse Osmosis system is losing pressure, it might be a symptom of a few different problems. There could be a simple reason why pressure isn't making it to the faucet. I could also be due to the tank needing re-pressurized. In this video we show how to take the steps to diagnose and resolve the issue.
    Get some new filters:
    amzn.to/3HPGeS1
    If you need to re-pressurize, here is a pump that will help:
    amzn.to/3xnaqiG
    I used an air compressor as it moves the water out much faster and helps build pressure easier without so much hand pumping. Here is a little one that will do the job:

    As a plumber, I couldn’t help but notice your dishwasher drain hose has no air gap or “high loop” and looks funky inside. That’s due to gunk from your disposal spilling into it, (which in many cases will cause your dishes to smell nasty even after the dishwasher is done) solution: ziptie the drain hose to have a high loop in it, higher than the connection to the disposal, to prevent back flow.

I had resolved myself to the fact that I'd have to have them come out and service my system. The last time I did this it cost me over $500. With this info I can resolve it myself and save a bundle of cash!! What a blessing!!

    Hi Brick Building Kids. To have the faucet in the open position, no need to use a sponge to hold it down. Flick the handle upwards.

      it is different for certain faucets. the ones with the handle on the same side as the faucet can be held in the up position. The faucets with the handles on the other side, like the one in the video, that one is more of a toggle.

    Good video. It helped me as the first time I didn’t fully drain the tank as I didn’t know how and didn’t want to over pressure the bladder. Let’s see if it works this time for a longer period.
    It would’ve been nice to show the pressure after the tank was emptied and indicate that lifting. Also that you have to pressure the bladder to 5-7 psi after the system is drained.

  • @JPXU1966
    @JPXU1966 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yes, this is super helpful, and my issue is resolved. BTW, here is how I decided the amount of air I pumped into the tank. Turn off the water source valve, and begin to drain the water in the tank into a container. When it starts dripping, pump some air into the tank. Repeat this until you have the right amount of water in your container, and you stop pumping air. In my case, I want to drain one gallon of water from the tank each time.

    Thank you for the detailed video and explanation! I was able to get my reverse osmosis system working properly again without having to pay the $100+ service fee charged by my water softer company. I used a bicycle pump to re-pressurize it to a PSI of less than 10PSI. I didn't have a pressure meter that could measure smaller amounts, so I used the gage on the bicycle pump. My tank had a Max PSI of 100, but from advice on a similar tutorial video, it said to keep it at between 5-7PSI. Thank you!

    Great video, I saw in other videos they completely disconnected the tank, but yeah makes sense you can just shut off the water, keep the faucet open, and pump the water out, might go a little faster completely disconnected since it doesnt have to go back through the filters and tubes, but this is more convenient if its safe.

  • @hslot6462
    @hslot6462 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Note when you repressure your tank the max pressure should not exceed 7,5 PSI . It is not the more air you put in the more pressure you get it the diameter of the faucet is determining the max flow rate /amount that goes thru. The usual water pressure here in Holland is 3,5 bar wich is 39.4 PSI when you pump your airtank higher then that like the max working pressure written on the tank it wont fill upp because the water pressure from the city is lower than your tank pressure . It will prevent the tank from filling upp with osmosis water. This is said for passive sytems with no booster pump . If you have a booster pump you need to look at the pressure it delivers and stay below that with your tank. And again increasing the pressure in the tank wont change the amount of water that comes out of your faucet.

    • @zugeysanchez4758
      @zugeysanchez4758 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's true here in CALIFORNIA we got ave 65-70 PSI with the RO system will drop the pressure to 50-55 i would recommend maybe 15-20 PSI this way the tank won't fill with water that fast, but always the feed must be twice the working pressure vs the tanks.

    • @orkan-nm2dc

      From what I understand, there are two pouches in the tank -- one each for water and air. Maybe the air escapes slowly over time from the pressure. It's been about 5 years for my tank, about when the manufacturer says to repressurize it. The slow flow also started a month after changing filters so wasn't sure if it was that, higher pressure in a tall building, or it was time. The pouches can also rupture so quite a few things to check out.

    It seems similar to an accummulator. If so the amount of water prior to pressurization of bladder determines the amount of water dispensed at rated pressure before it tapers of to a lower pressure through all those in line filters. If tank is pressurized prior to this, minimal amount of fills the accumulator and this amount only can be dispensed at rated pressure. In other words if tank has to deliver 2 litres at regulated pressure it implies fill the tank with 2 litres before pressurize to tank ratings.
    Here have assumed inside the is a floating balloon bladder connected to valve. Remaining space contains the water buffer. Point is can achieve rated pressure with bladder totally filling up the space inside tank OR half the tank volume taken up. In the latter case half the of water is now available at faucet for dispensation at pressure.

    • @macoeur1122
      @macoeur1122 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@herbals9489 If there is no pressure in your empty tank, you wouldn't be getting any water flow at all. I think the empty tank needs to be pressurized to between 6 & 8 psi so, it seems to me, checking this and correcting before filling is the way to go (you need a low pressure gauge that will read down to at least 5psi)
      This is what worked for me :P
      After doing this and re-filling: If pressure starts to peter out before emptying in a short period of time, it means the bladder in the tank isn't holding pressure and you need a new tank.

    Just a heads up, that faucet can be flipped UP to release all the water from the tank. No need to tape it or hold it down. It's a decent little system for sure, but I am experiencing no pressure after replacing filters. I replaced them ! at a time, exactly in the same orientation, but no flow now. I replaced the new ones with the old ones and still no pressure. I'm having trouble logicing this out. I fear the new filters somehow damaged the system. Tank fills but won't empty when connected to the system, but easily empties when not connected to it. I'm stumped. I assume the tank has pressure due to it emptying out with force. I did the test to see if the bladder was broken but no water cam out the valve on the bottom of the tank when the pin was depressed, just air.

    Faucet has no water in it. Storage tank must have 0 pressure as I can pick it up. Turned off water and shut off valve on tank. Added some air. Turned everything back on and the water is running giving a noise like an outside hose is on. So is the water not even pushing through into the tank? And I probably need a new storage tank?

    this is only the temp. fix. need to drain out all water then refill the tank then see what happen. don't put air in when the tank still have water, ok just a thought. i hope it will help

    Nice video, thank you. But I was a little confused on the pressure values. You said to "check the pressure rating of you tank." Is the tank pressure rating associated with it being full or empty? You emptied your tank and then stated applying pressure. But you didn't tell us what the value was when you stopped. Then you allowed the tank to fill and everything seemed to be back working. But you didn't tell us you reading there either.
    So, I don't know how much pressure to add at which stage and I'm afraid of bursting the bladder.

      The tank pressure rating shown on the label is definitely the rating with the tank empty, NOT full. So in this case, 7.5 psi of pressure with an empty tank. The pressure reading it should have when full of water is around 35-40 psi.

    at the 11:09 mark you fail to mention that when you pressurize the tank, you have to close the top valve/faucet, for the pressure to stay in the tank no?

      the psi goes into a rubber bladder,, pushing the water to the faucet..

    Thanks, I had to Reduce my pressure, it was coming out Too Fast. So I assume you can add air to the tank as well, if everything else doesn't improve pressure?

    What is the pressure on full tank?

    • @sc2066
      @sc2066 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pressure on a "full" tank will vary based on your local water pressure. So for example if your local water pressure is 60PSI, your tank will reflect a number similar to that once it has completely filled and stopped making RO water. If your pressure is 30PSI, you'll have a "full" tank pressure of around 30PSI. So when the tank says max pressure of 7.5psi, they are referring to empty tank BLADDER pressure, not tank pressure. If your tank says 100psi or some other high number they are referring to the max pressure the tank can handle and you will likely blow a hole in your bladder if you pump it up that high. This is why the number on the tank can be so confusing.

    Does this system come with the tank, or does it need to be purchased separately?

  • @ryansmulti-verse8204
    @ryansmulti-verse8204 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why does the manual say system should be 50-100 psi? It's hard to get 7.5 psi with a bike pump.. Trying to help pump water thru isn't working too well, like it's too full already?

  • @timothyyoung6059
    @timothyyoung6059 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wait…at around 11:39 you say turn system on and let it refill and then you say you are going to turn system off. Which one is? I would assume we need
    to turn system back on to let tank fill for a few hours. ?

    Has anyone have water leaking from the bottom valve when trying to pump air back in? It makes me think that the "bladder" has a leak/hole. I can't seem to pump air in. In this case, the tank has to be replace right?

    • @PotatoHero-d1z
      @PotatoHero-d1z ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think that is my case too, some water came out the bottom and i can't get air into is, the tank remains full after pumping for a long time and never holds any psi

    my ro-132 tank says the max working pressure is 100 psi but all these tutorials say 5-10 psi, I've got mine between 5 and 10 but no pressure. should I put more in then?

    • @AnonymousMod.
      @AnonymousMod. 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need 7-10 pounds of air in the bladder, measured with a completely empty tank.
      And more then 40psi of water pressure into the system. But less then 100psi.
      That's where the 100 comes from. Max water pressure.

      It should say on the label on the tank near the valve.
