Time Turner was always going to prioritize getting famous influencers who wanted to be idols over regular idol trainees because it was clearly a money scam. I don't know if the contestants knew that or not, so I can't really fault the people who people who participated. The show was a giant mess, but considering how most survival shows have an age limit and she's nearing that, it was likely a better alternative than using her connections to debut solo or something.

At this point I can only hope that the members who aren't skilled right now but were chosen to be in the group, actually train and become better.

Honestly the only point of your video that I disagree with is the facial expressions segment. I think everyone acknowledges that she’s objectively beautiful, ppl who say uncanny valley are just being mean to be mean. But besides that, even I can tell that she’s overdoing it 😭 That’s like something you only see when idols are purposely doing aegyo, except Kelly does it all the time.
sorry for barging in, but this might be due to the fact that she used to be a tiltoker and lack of camera training because those camera lenses are different: in the more televised settings the lenses catch the subtlest of the facial expressions, but on tiktok you kinda need to overdo it a little or a lot (both for the lenses and the point of a skit)

When she noticed that she was singing out of tune she smiled a lot and made some faces.) It might have become an automatic face to make when something awkward happens. Aren't a lot of trainees on such programs like that though? The only difference is that she won, while in other programs those trainees either just don't get showed, or get made fun of a little to show the difference between the levels the trainees are at that point in time (often years of training.)
6:15 - I find all form of Aegyo cringy, in my opinion. There are rare idols who do it well and naturally, but I’m not a fan of infantilization in any way. She can do whatever she wants though, people STILL see Jungkook as a baby, but he chose to stop doing aegyo for those tupe of fans. I think Kelly could do well with another performing style, cute doesn’t always suit everyone and I 100% will die on the hill that Kelly would be amazing in a girl crush concept. It would help the group stand out with all the light concepts, and Kelly’s sharper features would shine in a darker makeup style. I’ve seen lots of artists who although they use a more popular style of performing, it doesn’t suit them. Everglow Up does some great performance analysis videos.

I see the Kelly Kim case as more of don't shoot the messenger: If you don't like that she won because of her skills (which I can get) either click off and ignore the group or send that criticism to the program that pushed her or the people that voted for her (I don't know if she really got pushed because of the show or if she was just already populair.) Both things are not her fault: if the program pushed her, then send the criticism emails to the company who made the show or/and send the criticism to the people that voted for her. But I don't think it matters to people that send hate, I really feel like they search the next target (mostly girls) and push all the negative things in their own lives on them. Yeah sure, there always will be people who will hate idols no matter what, at the same time I rather think, that people who criticize the superficiality of k-pop but then also drive a hate-train towards the actual talented idols - are not actually the same people 😅 you always make it (passive-aggressively) sound like those are the exact same types of stans but I seriously disagree with that. Just because idols get criticized both ways doesn’t make it senseless or contradictory. There just always will be people who either like the superficial, visual side of kpop or prefer the talent- and skill- side of K-pop, the craft that is K-pop. Don’t get me wrong, you’re totally right with how hateful criticism by kpop stans tends to be and how that shouldn’t happen - but at the same time there is very often very reasonable criticism. Yeah sure, Kelly seems to be a nice person but seeing her winning without being able to sing one stable line - that’s ridiculous and just portrays how miserable the k-pop industry seems to be these days. And her making faces - I’ve never seen your average idol do these kind of overrated, childish faces. Maybe when they are asked to do aegyo but those are very specific situations and not during normal tik tok videos. It seems to me that Kelly is doing that to overshadow her insecurities regarding dancing and singing in front of the camera, it’s very obvious that she has never really learned how to dance or sing. And that’s totally okay since we‘re all human beings but we’re talking about the kpop-industry in which thousands of people practice these skills every single day to perfection but don’t get the platform to become successful. Ofc people will be very furious that Kelly even won this „show“ since it’s quite disrespectful towards all the other idols and trainees who spent a lot of time and effort into becoming idols. If people wanna hate anyone they can hate the show runners or the people who voted for her it’s just cruel. She's really pretty obviously, but the facial expressions were too much, but she will probably learn to balance it out. But I also personally don't understand why someone would become an idol just for being a visual. You either need vocals, dancing or even just good performing, or all of them. If it's only visuals and nothing else, that's weirdddd. I expect all idols be decent in singing, but if they're only really good in dancing/performing, I start giving a pass. Honestly, I was excited because finally, a contest show with only adults. But it’s so underwhelming. The show is not low-budget, but there are no judges, mentors, or trainers, and the skill level-except for a few contestants with decent abilities-is so low. We’re even far from an okay-skilled group like IVE. Let’s not even talk about Aespa or NMIXX. I won’t follow the winning group. I’m like you-when I’m not interested in an artist or group, I just ignore them. Kelly is pretty, in my opinion. I bet Lea will be hated, just like her sister Bahiyyih, because of nepotism and because she isn’t as slim as the others. I think both have poor skills, but they don’t deserve to be hated, especially for their appearances.
I seriously hope those KPOP company's won't look at this and take it as a sign that KPOP groups with older members won't work. I don't think they will, but you never know, especially if they see those comments about girls trying to look cute when they are 30. It's so ageist (and already at 30!) I'm not really on TikTok so I don't really know what people say about Kelly. I just personally believe that there is a difference between being a good tiktoker and a kpop idol. Her "cringe" expressions are not as cringe on TikTok because it's in the codes of the platform. You try to put it in a kpop format ? I hate this idea that people are allowed to say whatever tf they want to people if they've done bad stuff because it totally isn't. I honestly dgaf if they've commit horendous crimes, commenting negatively on something unrelated to the issue (e.g. looks, race, gender, sexuality, religion etc.) reinforces negative stereotypes and in turn insults anyone else who shares that similar characteristic. Insulting Kelly (or anyone) for her looks is also insulting anyone who looks similar to her and no one deserves that. I'm not saying you can't insult bad people, but focus on the stuff they've actually done wrong and then your insult would actually mean something.

Criticize yes, because girlie doesn't give me anything to root for her, but death wishes (I've been told she gets some, I personally haven't seen anything like that) are WAY TOO MUCH. At this point I can only hope that the members who aren't skilled right now but were chosen to be in the group, actually train and become better.

Honestly the only point of your video that I disagree with is the facial expressions segment. I think everyone acknowledges that she’s objectively beautiful, ppl who say uncanny valley are just being mean to be mean. But besides that, even I can tell that she’s overdoing it 😭 That’s like something you only see when idols are purposely doing aegyo, except Kelly does it all the time.
sorry for barging in, but this might be due to the fact that she used to be a tiltoker and lack of camera training
because those camera lenses are different: in the more televised settings the lenses catch the subtlest of the facial expressions, but on tiktok you kinda need to overdo it a little or a lot (both for the lenses and the point of a skit)
@@cinemindblown This is just an assumption so no idea if it's true. But I felt like she did it when she felt uncomfortable (like when she and another girl pretty much sang almost acapella. When she noticed that she was singing out of tune she smiled a lot and made some faces.) It might have become an automatic face to make when something awkward happens.

Aren't a lot of trainees on such programs like that though? The only difference is that she won, while in other programs those trainees either just don't get showed, or get made fun of a little to show the difference between the levels the trainees are at that point in time (often years of training.)

6:15 - I find all form of Aegyo cringy, in my opinion. There are rare idols who do it well and naturally, but I’m not a fan of infantilization in any way. She can do whatever she wants though, people STILL see Jungkook as a baby, but he chose to stop doing aegyo for those tupe of fans.
I think Kelly could do well with another performing style, cute doesn’t always suit everyone and I 100% will die on the hill that Kelly would be amazing in a girl crush concept. It would help the group stand out with all the light concepts, and Kelly’s sharper features would shine in a darker makeup style.
I’ve seen lots of artists who although they use a more popular style of performing, it doesn’t suit them. Everglow Up does some great performance analysis videos.

I’m so shocked any of these girls are getting genuine hate, really. I don’t see the show seriously and although I do believe Kelly is cringy and not skilled enough to debut, it’s just stupid to hate on her for it. It’s a show about tiktokers, not K-pop trainees. I really do think most of these girls just wanted to try out this path in a fun way, but people just love to ruin everything.

If you don't like that she won because of her skills (which I can get) either click off and ignore the group or send that criticism to the program that pushed her or the people that voted for her
(I don't know if she really got pushed because of the show or if she was just already populair.)
Both things are not her fault: if the program pushed her, then send the criticism emails to the company who made the show or/and send the criticism to the people that voted for her.
But I don't think it matters to people that send hate, I really feel like they search the next target (mostly girls) and push all the negative things in their own lives on them. (example: Wonyoung, Le Sserafim, Wonhee and now Kelly Kim.)

I often have the feeling that you over-simplify the criticism towards these topics. Yeah sure, there always will be people who will hate idols no matter what, at the same time I rather think, that people who criticize the superficiality of k-pop but then also drive a hate-train towards the actual talented idols - are not actually the same people 😅 you always make it (passive-aggressively) sound like those are the exact same types of stans but I seriously disagree with that. Just because idols get criticized both ways doesn’t make it senseless or contradictory. There just always will be people who either like the superficial, visual side of kpop or prefer the talent- and skill- side of K-pop, the craft that is K-pop. Don’t get me wrong, you’re totally right with how hateful criticism by kpop stans tends to be and how that shouldn’t happen - but at the same time there is very often very reasonable criticism. Yeah sure, Kelly seems to be a nice person but seeing her winning without being able to sing one stable line - that’s ridiculous and just portrays how miserable the k-pop industry seems to be these days. And her making faces - I’ve never seen your average idol do these kind of overrated, childish faces. Maybe when they are asked to do aegyo but those are very specific situations and not during normal tik tok videos. It seems to me that Kelly is doing that to overshadow her insecurities regarding dancing and singing in front of the camera, it’s very obvious that she has never really learned how to dance or sing. And that’s totally okay since we‘re all human beings but we’re talking about the kpop-industry in which thousands of people practice these skills every single day to perfection but don’t get the platform to become successful. Ofc people will be very furious that Kelly even won this „show“ since it’s quite disrespectful towards all the other idols and trainees who spent a lot of time and effort into becoming idols. Though we all should be reminded that in the end, it’s the director‘s fault. Who in their right mind let her participate? Just for bad promo? To use her existing tik-tok audience? We don’t know but it’s still important to criticize these things, why should we tolerate this?
Hey! Thanks for the comment. The issue I have with the hate on Kelly for winning is that it’s not her fault. The audience voted for it, so why should SHE personally get the hate for it? If people wanna hate anyone they can hate the show runners or the people who voted for her it’s just cruel. I don’t think it’s right that she won, no doubt because of her existing following but she also built that platform herself and is now reaping the benefits of it. There are better trainees, but I still don’t think that’s a valid reason to insult her. Criticising her skill is the only valid thing. She's really pretty obviously, but the facial expressions were too much, but she will probably learn to balance it out. But I also personally don't understand why someone would become an idol just for being a visual. You either need vocals, dancing or even just good performing, or all of them. If it's only visuals and nothing else, that's weirdddd. I expect all idols be decent in singing, but if they're only really good in dancing/performing, I start giving a pass. Visual just standing there like a model? This is a music industry, what is going on. Not saying Kelly is, I don't have enough info, and she can very well learn how to become those things

Honestly, I was excited because finally, a contest show with only adults. But it’s so underwhelming. The show is not low-budget, but there are no judges, mentors, or trainers, and the skill level-except for a few contestants with decent abilities-is so low. We’re even far from an okay-skilled group like IVE. Let’s not even talk about Aespa or NMIXX.
I won’t follow the winning group. I’m like you-when I’m not interested in an artist or group, I just ignore them.

I'm not really on TikTok so I don't really know what people say about Kelly. I just personally believe that there is a difference between being a good tiktoker and a kpop idol. Her "cringe" expressions are not as cringe on TikTok because it's in the codes of the platform. You try to put it in a kpop format ? It just looks like someone that is bad at facial expressions, like some trainees do way too much lip biting to look cool and sexy but it just feels forced and puts you out of the performance. I think as an idol she's not fitted, she's really pretty but sadly trying to be a kpop idol with poor singing and mid dancing in these days and age is for sure going to bring you haters. Kpop fans want to see perfection even when it's fake.

Tbh I criticised her talents but I would never criticise someone’s appearance cause it’s not my face it’s theirs and the reason why I criticised her talent and just the show in general was because it’s was not fair to the other contestants who actually had talent and have a small following.

I saw only a little of this survive show on insta. Do I think there were aloe of more talented persons that would have deserved to to debut instead of the final line up? Yes. Insulting Kelly (or anyone) for her looks is also insulting anyone who looks similar to her and no one deserves that. I'm not saying you can't insult bad people, but focus on the stuff they've actually done wrong and then your insult would actually mean something.
