I’m korean, and it’s honestly kind of heartbreaking to see some of these clips. While korea is mostly known as kpop or food or similar things, i don’t think any of them actually trues to see what’s inside the shell. We have a very tragic and hardworking history, such as getting colonized by the japanese empire during ww2(trust me, many of the things they did were inhumane), or the korean war. They probably have no idea how sad it actually is to be in war 24/7 365 days(as they never officially ‘ended’ the war) or knowing that your close family relatives are somewhere up in the north, probably living a tragic life, and you can’t do anything about it. They don’t know the perseverance of our ancestors as they somehow managed to save joseon for a long time from all the constant attacks from china and japan. Not just our history, even about how so many teenagers are ruining their life studying 14 hours a day which hurts your body critically, just to get into a med school, but eventually falling apart from the depression and the unbearable pressure from its society. They don’t know ‘korea’. They think they do, it makes me laugh. This applies to the majority of people on the internet these days as well. If you really want to know about korea, you should study its history first. I’m not saying that you can’t enjoy korea’s culture without getting really deep into it, just don’t make it your whole personality or act like you’re a damn master of korean culture just because you liked kpop for a few years.

My girlfriend is Korean and everytime I mention that to people, who are like these people... they always act very cringey. I don't even like K-pop or K-drama but for some reason they expect me to be some expert on this stuff while they show off how much of an 'expert' they are on Korean culture... it's sooo annoying!!
I am Korean and tbh the second clip doesn't seem like a koreaboo she is actually quite good in korean BUT the problem is the way she talks thinking that every korean girl talks like that...just like when people make a "black girl" impression talking on a sassy way...if she said she was going to make an impression of a cute annoying drama girl I would have understand.

I’m korean, and it’s honestly kind of heartbreaking to see some of these clips. While korea is mostly known as kpop or food or similar things, i don’t think any of them actually trues to see what’s inside the shell. We have a very tragic and hardworking history, such as getting colonized by the japanese empire during ww2(trust me, many of the things they did were inhumane), or the korean war. They probably have no idea how sad it actually is to be in war 24/7 365 days(as they never officially ‘ended’ the war) or knowing that your close family relatives are somewhere up in the north, probably living a tragic life, and you can’t do anything about it. They don’t know the perseverance of our ancestors as they somehow managed to save joseon for a long time from all the constant attacks from china and japan. Not just our history, even about how so many teenagers are ruining their life studying 14 hours a day which hurts your body critically, just to get into a med school, but eventually falling apart from the depression and the unbearable pressure from its society. They don’t know ‘korea’. They think they do, it makes me laugh. This applies to the majority of people on the internet these days as well. If you really want to know about korea, you should study its history first. I’m not saying that you can’t enjoy korea’s culture without getting really deep into it, just don’t make it your whole personality or act like you’re a damn master of korean culture just because you liked kpop for a few years.

The clips of the girls speaking ‘korean’ was genuinely making me cringe. As a multilingual who took an interest to the Korean language not too long ago, just….wtf. I’ve heard many dialects and practiced them myself as well with linguist friends (having heard them struggle or mess up sometimes), it never ceases to bother me when they’re spoken in an exaggerated manner💀
