There was far less space in the Teutoburg forest than in the film, the alley they were walking down held few men in width, and the Roman line was so stretched that when the rear was attacked, the front was not even aware of the attack
This is not how I imagined the battle reading about it. The Roman's were tricked into walking single file through some bogs that they could barely walk through. The Germans used their skills at sod house construction to build false hillsides that stretched the legions lines to the point it went on for miles and could be easily attacked piecemeal.
This isn't fully what happened the legions were still traveling when attacked in the front, the middle and back and caravan had no idea it was taking place and we're walking to their deaths, Arminius and purposely chosen a narrow trail causing the legions to be more spread out like a snake. In fact so much so they think when the initial attack happened the caravan was only just leaving encampment 3-4 hours after the scouts had left
True. And I believe the romans also were driven in a small corridor between wooden pallisander walls and a swamp. Therefore they could not employ their usual tactics and got slaughtered.

The battle lasted 3 days and not just two days. The animation is very inaccurate, in a dense forest 3 Roman legions and supply units marched in a long formation several kilometers long, and they could not come to each other's aid, which is why the Germanic attacks on selected sections were so devastating.
The army was stretched in a single column and not several. In addition, the fighting only took place on one side because the other consisted of swamps. Finally, some fighting took place on high ground as evidenced by the remains of defensive walls. The Germans also used an interesting "V" shaped tactic meaning that any pursuit of the enemy towards the heights allowed the defenders to close ranks.
Some were boiled alive, some were drowned in muddy bogs, but the majority of those sacrificed were hung on trees, an offering to Odin, who among his many names are Hangatýr, Hrafnaguð, and Sigfaðr.
