Would be great if it was only "a bit"! They do rub a lot unfortunately! And that is why you can't go either very fast into Eau Rouge neither accelerate as early as you should as the car is still bouncing on the wheel/tire.
@@davidhernandez6505 Well the car is 450hp at this boost and weighs around 1.150kg. So it definitely can do these times! I believe that it should be sub 2:35 when properly tuned in terms of suspension and without the hiccups from running too lean because of the tune(the small cuts it is doing all over the lap). Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
Thanks a lot Alex! A this boost it is around 450hp and the tires where indeed AR-1 but not at the best state and also with a big flat spot. I think at this boost the car is a 2:35 with more proper tire and me driving it properly. It has this rubbing thing down in Eau Rouge which costs a lot of time by the end of Kemmel as you have to coast before the corner and cannot go on the throttle again until it settles. Anyway, book of excuses opened! It was great fun!
Sounds awesome 😍 Pretty much the same applies with my 996 gt3. Pushing around the same power and about same times around Spa on very sticky rubber of course 😉...💪👍
This is amazing, I only see RX-7s made for late-night meetings so it's very refreshing to see one built for the track! Which tire sizes do you run? Do you think that RX-7 is a better platform than E36/46 M3? I just don't see many of them but I believe it has huge potential ;) If you're brave enough :D
Thanks for watching!! Always a pleasure sharing the fun driving this car! I can definitely say its a very very capable platform. The comparison with the BMWs is very difficult because they also are very capable and the only thing that is difficult with them is extracting power out of them. Usually when you do get more power they become seriously fast! And this is the case iwth the RX7, that rotary engine can easily squeeze some serious numbers which then make for good laptimes combined with the very nice chassis that can put all the power down. My current setup is 265/18 at the front and 295/18 at the rears,
@@kzannos You're definitely right about the power, there can be thousands of Euros spent in cams, airbox etc. and maybe 50hp more? If everything goes well... Also the weight of Mazda is a big benefit I guess, it is lightweight and doesn't need that much stripping and can remain streetable while being around 1250kg 🙂 When will you attack Nurburgring? With this laptime at Spa, I strongly believe sub 7:20 BTG could be "easily" achievable.
@@CossieGT3 Very well said again. The weight helps a lot again on the RX7, mine i think is around 1.150kg so its even lighter. And yes, a 7:20 laptime is very realistic and maybe pessimistic i would say if the car works and provides confidence. It needs still some work and sorting it out. It rubs a lot at the front in compression zones and actually makes the bounce of the ground when it does so corners like Eau Rouge or Foxhole, Ex Muhle, Karussel, Flugplatz, Kleine Karussel for example need to be tackled with some coasting and patience. Which here and there takes the time away. Unfortunately now that i found time to try the car, the season came to an end so it will be some time until next year....
@@wdp_racing Wish you luck with the setup guys! Yeah I believe it can go faster, everything just needs to be perfect - no traffic, good weather, minimum of mistakes and of course functioning car 😅 Anyway don't forget to upload a video from the Ring, would love to see it next year💪
I see RX7 and Spa in the same sentence, I click like!
A very fun car around one of the most beautiful tracks.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this brother. Sounds like the wheels rub the inner wings a bit up eau rouge?
