I don't know who you are, but you drove that car perfectly. I loved how everyone in this video was actually driving hard but fair. Pure heaven. I raced DTM’s on tracks like this mainly in Germany the 80’s… SPA is iconic and a true test for both cars and drivers. That 10K RPM howl…nothing like it…you feel it in your bones. It’s addictive…explains why Fernando still races…he’s a junkie for this stuff. 😉😊
It's a dog box, they are much better suited to clutchless shifting compared to road car synchromesh. To upshift, you just release the gas and quickly shift. To downshift, you momentarily blip the gas while going through neutral, just like you would when heel-toeing. It must be (and usually is) done quickly and decisively, that's best for dog box transmissions. Of course, clutchless revmatching is more critical.
I've watched plenty of Masters racing where I felt like the drivers had more money than talent. This was not one of those times. That was beautiful driving of beautiful cars around a beautiful track. Great video!

Man, what a race. Great cars and a brilliant display of driving. It's incredible to see older F1 cars being driven like they should be. A series like this with vintage F1 cars would be a great support series at modern F1 events. Never going to happen but we can dream.
This is the best video I’ve seen this year! The racing is brilliant, the noise is incredible… also having the camera on your helmet to show more natural movement 👍
Thanks for the upload of this awesome footage of 1980s classic Spa, before they ruined it with the bus stop chicane. The sound of the engines are iconic, especially through the epic Blanchimont bend, as the driver checks his mirrors before the chicane. Eau Rouge, of course, speaks for itself.
Watching from the Raidillon tribune and seeing the spins was a timely reminder that the Butt was a main sensor for traction control. The Brabham is still the fastest car I ever saw through the old Club corner at Silverstone. I was fortunate to be a track marshal there the year that Watson won. Piquet was so much faster through there than anyone else.
Such great footage. I wish we'd had material of that quality from the actual 1980s races, sigh. And I just notice that I like the old layout of the Bus Stop chicane better, though.
I could feel the violence of the speed, the added danger with no halo, the manual shifting, the rawness in the overtaking, the thunderous engine roaring - consuming you. It all combines to an intoxicating rush, the feeling of taking your life in your own hands as you push the machine to its limit. Sorely missing in modern F1.
