- Why I bought this bike. I now and then visit The Home Shop Machinist Forum and one day there was someone who had published a YT link where a guy test drove a RE 500. I watched that video and then I was caught. So i began watching other YT videos of the same. Then I decided that such a bike I will have. I like the old and classic clean style of the bike. RE looked much like that in the early fifties. To meet the European exhaust regulations RE had to introduce electronic fuel injenction (EFI) and a catalytic converter. Disc brakes and ABS makes the bike not worse but even better. This bike is not a racer but a nice cruiser. I also like the sound of the engine and the low revolutions.
As you may not know Royal Enfield has been creating classic motorcycles since 1901.
i bought one back in February. still enjoy it but I think I'm done for the winter months. thank you for the video and NO music to cover up the sound of the bike.
I stopped driving the RE in october when it got too cold. I guess I have to wait until late april for the next ride. Thanks for comment and watching.
Built for british weather. Those big mudguards keep the crud off. Unless there's snow or ice the bike can be ridden all year round even when it's a bit chilly. It's November now, there's a bit of a nip to the air but it's not winter yet. There will be plenty of good riding days even in December and January, put a jersey on under the jacket.
I really enjoyed your video. The way you ride it and the sound that goes with it is simply beautiful. I can imagine me riding a bike like this all day long, with a big smile and not a care in the world.
Thanks for your nice reply. You are right about that smile and riding this bike really cleans the mind.
Thank you for a very nice, easy tour !
Thank you David!
The sound of the exhaust warms my heart and gives me manly tears.
Thanks for a very nice comment!
@@tompas11A3n52KkX The sound of that bike is just right for me. Not over-the-top, it doesn't crave for attention and the design is just perfect!
@@seanortigoza3931 I agree with you. I couldn't have said it better.
All 3 motorcycles you showed were beautiful. Especially the Norton. I'd adore owning any of the 3.
Thanks Christian. I do regret that I sold the Norton, a lovely bike with a wonderful sound.
Your part of the world is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for the video, it was a fantastic ride.
Thanks for your feedback John and for that you followed me on my ride.
Ive owned a Himalayan for a few months now and luv it so have ordered a Royal Enfield 500 Gunmetal grey for tootling around on, great good looking bikes for great prices.thanks for sharing.
I think that you have done the right thing. Congratulations to your new bike! Thanks for... well you know what.
love the Originality and simple way of your Videos.
Yes I prefer to make it simple, thank you.
Wow you ride a RE in Sweden! I am also planning on getting one this summer! I’m from India and I own one back home as well which my cousin now uses. So would be great to get one in Sweden. Thanks for the video! -Shardul from Västerås
Yes RE are not particularly common in Sweden. This is the 2018 year model and there are only 13 sold of this year model in Sweden.
I think it's a really nice bike, looks good and is really fun to drive. Thanks for watching and your nice comment.
Great bike, beautiful sound, picturesque coutryside. Bought 2011 bullet 500 electra this summer. It’s a keeper. I would like to mount a sidecar on her and forget about car during summer months. Tack!
Tack ska du ha! Which you safe ride with your Bullet 500 Electra!
A dreamy ride through varied land and townscapes, and a very nice bike. Thanks for a cool video (and your other videos, which are all very good). Hilsen fra Oslo!
Thanks André. I tried to vary the roads and the landscape a bit from the original two hours video that I had on hand. Tusen takk
for kommentar og fordi du så på videoen.
incredible place to ride such a sweet machine! thank you!
Thanks,
appreciate your comment.
Enjoyed your video and your accent l got mine 3weeks ago will fit side car on it, l bought the military model so everything will be battle green colour it’s the latest model l love these bikes they remind me of a time gone by a vintage bike without restoring one enjoy and cheers from Australia
Thanks Mickey! Yes you are right, own a vintage bike without restoring it first, thats nice. Hope you will be as satisfied with your Enfield as I am with mine. Take care, drive safe.
Thank you, I live in Brazil and I live the Royal Enfield.
Thank you Davi Lozada and yes it's a great bike.
Very pretty countryside, reminds me of Ontario here. Thanks much.
Thanks for your nice comment Paul.
A very beautiful and classy machine! Nice countryside too. Your first bike with fuel injection if I'm not mistaken. That was the same for me on the Himalayan. Smooth running and easy starts.
Yeah you are right, that is my first bike with fuel injection and as you point out easy running and easy starts. And if the battery goes off, it's always possible to get the bike started by the kickstarter. Thats nice.
Excellent review, and lovely countryside. Hopefully I'll get a RE next year.
Health to enjoy. Greetings from Ireland.
You have nice rides coming up if you get your RE next year. Thanks for watching and for your nice comment.
Hi James, a few of us in Ireland and about 4-7 meetup's for camps hostel weekends and ride outs a year. Lovely bike and write up.
I like the look and sound of that bike. Never seen one of these before. Enjoyed the ride.
These bikes looked like this in the mid fifties. Some changes has been done, like a new engine and better brakes and som other minor changes/upgrades. Otherwise they look pretty similar yo the original one. Thanks for watching and comment much appreciated.
Enjoyed your video and the countryside is beautiful, thanks for your comments on my channel.
Thank you for looking into my channel Mark. Welcome back anytime.
Classic 500 on a country road on an evening..bliss..😍
Thank you!
I bought the military green classic well l have to say l love this slow moving machine, it feels like riding back in time and yet quite capable of keeping up with modern traffic. I to have other bikes but this is my favourite thanks you for sharing you have a awesome looking machine
Thanks Bert. Yes it's a lovely bike and I enjoy every minut riding it.
Just bought a gunmetal grey 2020. What a great bike
Yes it's really a great bike! Congrats on bying the most classical bike in the world!
Bro ur video is awesome if u come to India here many royal Enfield clubs are there I think if u cm to India you can enjoy here with many royal enfields
Thanks a lot Aruna!
I did enjoy listening to that motor and gear change. I might get one.
Thanks. The engine sound even better in reality. Get one, you will not regret it.
A lovely bike in beautiful countryside.
Thank you very much!
The best sound experience till now
Thank you!
Thanks for the ride, at least we didn’t fall off. Cheers Peter
Thanks Peter. Was it you that shouted - slow down, slow down! Cheers.
Thank you for sharing. To my mind definitely one to consider purchasing.
Thanks. Buy one you will not regret it.
I think these are a stylish handsome machine wow what a beauty love this machine sir thanks for the review
Thanks. Yes I really love the style of the bike. I have changed the big original silencer to an aftermarket one. I think it performs a bit better due to that. At least it sounds better. I also made new handle bar weights out of brass. 100 grams heavier than the original ones, dampens the vibrations a bit better. The numbers on the odometer are now 8100 km and I have had no problems with the bike, it just runs and runs...
The picture of the Norton Commando with the oil stains on the floor made me smile.
The bike only marked it's territory...
Beautiful bike. I want one. (I'm really going to have to put the foot down and show the wife who's boss.)
Thank's for your lovely comment, much appreciated. Please put your foot down...
sounds like its too late..............
Wifes are bosses everywhere, knowing this you have to follow the quote “ is better ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission”
@@xdiaba That's a good one! (Something to remember, for sure!!)
I have the same color, except mine's a 2017. Ride safe!
Yeah it's a nice bike. I have never been stopped by the police on my bike, but I see that you have. May be because there are very few police officers here... Stay safe - ride safe!
tompas11 Thank you kindly! And yes, hopefully no more police experiences for me!
Hi, thats a beautiful RE you have there not to forget your city is so much beautiful, must have felt amazing just cruising through those roads. Can you please tell me is that a stock handlebar or an after market handlebar. Because the RE classic we get here in india does not come along with such handlebar, yours Seems comfortable.
Thank you very much. This is the stock handlebar and yes it's pretty comfortable.
Good driving good motor green country Thank you..from Turkey.
Thanks for watching my ride in Sweden.
@@tompas11A3n52KkX I'am think Deuchland!
OK I see.
I have one just like that.
I love it. So wonderful for me.
PS l have also Guzzi Alce 500 WWII....
Yes it's a great bike.
I have the Classic EFI-500 paired with a Guzzi V7ii. They make a good team; both have that relaxed easy to ride attitude and great fun. The Enfield, unsurprisingly, is best on tiny little lanes, and in town where that big Guzzi clutch can be a bit of a handful. The V7 with double the ponies is considerably quicker.
@@jeffslade1892I’m also thinking to pair my 500 Bullet with MotoGuzzi. Two beauties, two singers of the road.
Great Review
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thank you Michael!
Great video really enjoyed it. You still happy with the bike, any grumbles?
Thank you. Yes still happy with this bike, nothing to complain about so far. Now 3600km on the odometer. Will be a lot more coming summer :-)
Nice bro!keep road trip safe. Subscribed :)
Thanks a lot!
Hello good video! Is it a Reliable bike? Im Thinking of buying one
Greetings
Thanks. Yes so far it's been very reliable, I have had no problems at all. I bought this bike new 2018 and now got over 10000 km (over 6200 miles) on the odometer.
Everything is working like it should and the bike is running really good and is a pleasure to ride. Buy one, you won't regret it.
@@tompas11A3n52KkX thank you great to hear yea it looks realy good and the 500 Single Zylinder aircooler is very interesting for me sounds like a ww1 Steamtracktor 😃love that
But also looks easy to maintain that's attraktiv too. ✌️
Which contry is this 🤔🤔 I love this place and u r videos
Thanks glad you liked it. This is Sweden.
@@tompas11A3n52KkX ok my drr... thank u so much for u r reply
It's not a cruiser. Originally a heavy trials bike. Standard british motorbike position, an all-year get you to work commuter, a work horse. Made in India, Royal Enfield set up a satellite factory in India in the 50s to build this bike. RE operations in England ceased in 1970. Economical, reliable, fun.
Yes the bike is really fun to ride and economical to. 12 000km by now and everything is running smooth, no issues what so ever. With my homemade boster plug it runs even smoother than before. And for me this bike is a cruiser.
Top speed?
This is not a bike for someone who likes to ride fast, then you should look for something else. I've been driving this bike for 130 km/h, but it's probably a bit faster, say max 140 km/h.
@@tompas11A3n52KkX Yes I agree with you, this bike isn't meant to be pushed too hard at top speeds. Classic cruiser... I was just asking it's top speed out of curiosity.
How is enfield going? Any issues?
I have by now been riding my Enfield 3800km and I have had no issues whatsoever. Everything works as it's supposed to do. Just fill up the tank with gasoline, turn on the ignition key, hit the start button and off you go.
@@tompas11A3n52KkX Now that is run in, have vibrations subsided?
@@londo0 Yes the vibrations has subsided but you can never get rid of all vibrations on single cylinder engine.
You should have your whatsapp fan groupchat ....so we all could discuss and share about motorcycles and rides that we have on em.
Well I don't know about that...
Hermosa
Creo que si. Gracias.
The bike looks sexy.
Well I like the style, nice that you like it too.
