Anne and Nancy are two beautiful ladies. I love these songs, but I hate how these record companies hid Anne from us just because she was getting heavier. I think Ann looks great in this video. She was a beautiful, powerful woman then as she is now. I saw them live about 5 years ago. Ann Wilson has amazing charisma! She has a remarkable presence that commands the stage completely. A true legend.
This was one of those rare cases where Nancy was singing lead vocals instead of Ann. Also, it was mentioned somewhere that during the recording of this song, Nancy had a bit of a cold, hence why her voice sounds the way it does here.
I think Nancy has also said this was actually just a scratch vocal take that she was planning to re-record after she got over her cold. However, she couldn’t re-create the raspiness the cold gave her so they just wound up keeping the original scratch vocals.
Only rare in that it was released as a single. Nancy has always done 1 or 2 lead vocals per album. On the "Jupiter's Darling" album they split leads almost 50/50.
@@michlkwitz Thanks for that clarification. I never knew that. Even though I obviously knew what a powerhouse of a vocalist Ann Wilson is, I couldn't help but think why are they hiding Nancy's beautiful voice once I heard this. I'm OK with a group having one main lead vocalist, especially when they sound like Ann, but I really like so see others in the group get their shine too sometimes. Not as a competition thing, but more in the thought process of who usually sings what. Most groups rarely really talk about it.

Jamel, You'll love their "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You " and "Dog And Butterfly". Heart may have been the first female rockers with big-hair and shoulder pads. By the mid-80's Tina Turner had the big hair, but no shoulder pads.
I believe Nancy Wilson has mentioned that she had a heavy cold when she recorded her vocals for this song as just a scratch take for the other musicians’ reference. Hey you gentlemen out there, this is for you. How to show your significant other some love for Valentines's Day? Best Valentine's Day in 33 years with my awesome hubby!! For the past WEEK every day he made the coffee, cooked dinner (learned from youtube) , cleaned it up after too, fed the felines, gave them their medications, made the bed, kept all his stuff put away, found my "To Do List" and knocked out almost all of it, bought me a birthday cake, did all the shopping and errands, did the laundry and gave me lovely Valentine's Day card and chocolates . He even vacuumed! Over the years he has bought many things, but this was the best by far. Anyone can buy diamonds, but to spend his only week home (he works out of state) doing all these things for me? Thats real true love. This is what we really want fellas. Nothing makes one feel loved more than knowing your man took the time to really think about you. To notice all the things we do and insist you "Go get cumfy and read your book. No worries, I got it." Without a doubt, the most amazing surprise yet! P.S. Love the Be A Good Human shirt. I have been saying it for years but you have a much larger reach than I. Right on!!! I know a good human when I see one, thats why I watch you. Always a pleasure.

I love Heart, grew up in the 70's and they are still amazing talents today... This song was one of my favorites for their vocals but so many awesome songs from Ann and Nancy....
I read a story that Nancy was dealing with a cold when she came in to record the lead vocals. She didn't think she'd sound particularly good, but the producers loved the little rasp in her voice, so they kept it. I also love the interesting phrasing of the different lyrics. Great song for their first #1 hit.
If Im not mistaken, this song was their highest hitting song on the charts. And the lead wasnt the greatest voice in rock**Ann Wilson** but her sister Nancy! Unbelievable talent in this band
I remember my first listen of Little Queen - didn't know this song prior, but I knew Ann could sing! Heard Dream Of The Archer & Sylvan Song and my mind was blown! Vocal prowess doesn't even begin to describe the beauty of her voice!
There is a magic captured in these older songs that present day music has failed to replicate. Retrowave comes close but even that is a reflection of the sunset.
The guitarist you see in this video was Howard Leese, he was the longest member of Heart outside of the Wilson sisters. He is the one who plays the synthesizer during the Magic Man solo.
70's Heart is so different than 80's Heart ....... 70's was more Rock & Roll.... 80's had a lot of synthesizers ..... electronic drums.. incorporated the instruments so popular in the 80's, then faded away LoL!!
Ann or Nancy? It's like the old question: "Wilma or Betty? Ginger or Mary Ann? That was back when it seemed a music video was expected for just about every popular song released. MTV and Much Music were major exposure. I never missed a video from Heart or ZZ Top. They were so well done. I played the hell out this album by Heart.

SISTERHOOD
This is my favorite song from Heart followed by Alone! They just hit me in the soul!
"ALONE" is my favorite by Heart
U know these gals R blood sisters..& harmonize so well 2gether. They hav many big hits..hope u'll ck out more 🙂🙂💘💘
Nancy looks like David Bowie In Labyrinth.
Beautiful song 🎵. Ann and Nancy are amazing.
Everything off this album is killer! Same with their next album Bad Animals. Hell, do "Alone", it was their only #1 on the Billboard Hot 100
Heart's FIRST NUMBER ONE HIT.............Nancy Singing lead........NO disrespect toward ANN, The greatest female rock singer in HISTORY
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin (Elton John’s longtime lyricist). Music by Martin Page. Page had a one-hit-wonder “In the House of Stone and the Light” in the 90’s, and I’ve been a fan since. 25 years, 6 albums, and not once disappointed!!!
I love Heart, grew up in the 70's and they are still amazing talents today... This song was one of my favorites for their vocals but so many awesome songs from Ann and Nancy....
Jamal...You gotta do more Heart! "Straight On" "Never" "Nothin' at All" "Alone" and "All I wanna Do is Make Love To You"
Get after it, Bro! Thanks.
"Stranded" is my favorite out of their 80s album next to "Never".
Don't forget about "Never Runaway."
Gag. I loathe "All I Wanna Do" with a burning passion. Worst song in their catalogue.
They are rock legends! These ladies are so talented. They put some of these newbies to shame even today!!
I read a story that Nancy was dealing with a cold when she came in to record the lead vocals. She didn't think she'd sound particularly good, but the producers loved the little rasp in her voice, so they kept it. I also love the interesting phrasing of the different lyrics. Great song for their first #1 hit.
First hit? You mean in the 80’s? In the 70’s they had plenty of hits.
@@taoist32 They did have other top 10 hits before this, but "These Dreams" was their first to top the Hot 100 chart.
@@matts6272 Ah. I didn't know.
One of the best 80s songs makes a joke of anything in 2021, incredible sound.
Classic here!! 🌹✌️
If Im not mistaken, this song was their highest hitting song on the charts. And the lead wasnt the greatest voice in rock**Ann Wilson** but her sister Nancy! Unbelievable talent in this band
One I requested a while back: "Alone".
HVD!! Yes!! How appropriate!! Aww...A chance for Nancy to shine a little brighter. They had a lot to prove as female rockers!! With great ballads!! ✌🏼
"Dream Of The Archer" needs to be heard Brother, that Anne Wilson note sustain, at it's vocal best
yes
Double yes. Her phrasing in that song is killer.

free the gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaalllllllllll
Little queen is a masterpiece ❤️🌟❤️
I remember my first listen of Little Queen - didn't know this song prior, but I knew Ann could sing! Heard Dream Of The Archer & Sylvan Song and my mind was blown! Vocal prowess doesn't even begin to describe the beauty of her voice!
Nancy sounds GREAT here! MAN, can you tell they're sisters by their voices. Nancy looks like an angel and a model at the same time.
"Dog and Butterfly" is my favorite Heart tune.
That song makes me cry, its so lovely
70s Heart
There is a magic captured in these older songs that present day music has failed to replicate. Retrowave comes close but even that is a reflection of the sunset.
Nancy can sing beautifully too.
I didnt like them in the 80s at all,, They were never the same,, Rock on Heart
In other words: 80's Heart was very 80's
@@StevenQ74 - In other words, Heart knew how to make money ......
Cause Nancy was lead vocals on this song, she has an amazing voice.
and the thing is, Nancy wasn't supposed to sing it! Ann was sick on day of recording so they went with Nancy, who was reluctant to do it
GSX?
@@vansongs GSX-R
@@thegixxer73 oops of course! hahaha
@@jamesharris1101 Never knew that either. I thought it was Ann singing it originally. I wasn't that familiar with them, and in truth am not really now, so I had no reason to think it wasn't at the time.
One of the first times Nancy sang lead. IMHO she should have more often.
We need more 80’s heart reaction videos. I think he’s covered most of their notable 70’s stuff. Comments you can correct me on that.
Nope not even half ,
Nope Little Queen..even it up..kick it out. Straight on
My pops loved Heart,so as crazy as it sounds, when I hear ALONE I cry because I think of him.He passed away 5 years ago.
I love this group. Check out their song, "Never", if you haven't yet.
The very beautiful and very talented Wilson Sisters. Heart is one of my favorite bands.
Every song on Dreamboat Annie is great.
This song wasn't on Dreamboat Annie lol
@@dustywaynemusic6297 I know, I just happen to like Dreamboat Annie😀
@@tammyjackson3113 ok lol yeah it's pretty great
My top tree favorite tracks for Dreamboat Annie are:
Dreamboat Annie (Reprise)
Dreamboat Annie
Dreamboat Annie (Fantasy Child)
Lol. . the only other record i can think of that had three songs all named the same is "Another Brick In The Wall"
by Pink Floyd. .
Only concert I've ever been to, just as awesome in person. They had the stadium rocking, I was hoarse all the following day from shouting along, being so worked up with every one else there.
Heart - "All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You"
No. this is a terrible song. Ann Wilson has stated repeatedly this is her least favorite Heart song
I need to see Jamel's reaction to this crazy song!! "We walked in garden, we planted a tree" 😂😂
@@oodlesloodles8930 It's messed up for sure. First time I heard the words I cringed but I took it as a song, not a statement by the Wilsons.
@@charlieross-BRM of course its a song and not a statement. But its a lousy, boring song with a horrible message
@@oodlesloodles8930 If a horrible message is your criteria, you are eliminating a lot of great songs by a lot of great bands. Sex, drugs, and rock n roll! 🤘
I went to a guitar workshop hosted by Nancy Wilson at a music store in Indianapolis sometime around 1997 or 98. Learned how to play the intro to Crazy On You. She came across very nice and down to Earth, and was very receptive to questions.
Love Heart. My Dad would jam them when I was little
Anne and Nancy, beautiful ladies, great musicians, and Nancy, one of the absolute best guitarist ever... Oh, don't forget the 1980's BIG hair.
Love Heart, even though they had some good tunes in the 80's, I prefer their earlier stuff from the 70's. Nancy Wilson did a cameo in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
One of the most beautiful songs of these metal ladies. 🤘❤️
Great song ♥️
I got to see Heart in concert in 2016 and it was Awesome! But the best part was introducing my niece to my era of music. Ann and Nancy Wilson are the top ladies in rock IMO.....
"Their voices..." You weren't looking at their voices...👴😜
The one song Nancy sings lead produced Heart’s first #1 hit.
A rare treat to see Nancy doing lead vocals. This was Heart's first number one hit.
Heart-"Love Alive"(live 1978 version) with BREATHTAKING flute solo by Ann to start the song
Or
Heart-,"Little Queen " with a break that is stunning
Check out "Love Alive" and "Dog and Butterfly"
Just heard this on the radio about 20 minutes ago. Still a great song. And the Wilson sisters.... So talented and beautiful! Happy 💗 Day!
By the way... their only #1 hit... and Nancy sings it !
And they rarely show Ann below her neck.
"They" thought she was fat.
“They” were a bunch of arseholes saying that, weren’t they! Ann is beautiful.
Aww Jamal you're really feeling the love today my friend. Anne and Nancy both have incredible voices.
