This was one of the biggest hits of the late-70s, and for damn good reason: This is one of the greatest Pop songs, ballads and love songs of all-time. It is also one of my favorite songs of all-time, and I'm a Metalhead. Paul Davis' "I Go Crazy" is a rare song that transcends both time and genre. It never gets old and is so incredibly uplifting and inspiring. Please consider doing "Thank You For Being A Friend" by a colleague and friend of his named Andrew Gold. R.I.P. both of them.

I am a headbanger (chick) as well, and I second everything you wrote. I remember necking for hours to songs like this, but this one stands out. It moves me every single time, and not just because I wish for the day when I believe again that men are capable of this depth of emotion.

Paul Davis begged his studio to have this song presented to LOU RAWLS, who he thought would make it a huge success. Paul decided to record it by himself and it turned out to be a huge hit, the song peaked at #7 on March 18, 1978. I GO CRAZY spent 40 weeks on Billboard Hot 100 charts. Jamel, here are a few other nice listening songs by Paul Davis, 65'LOVE AFFAIR, DO RIGHT and SWEET LIFE. RIP PAUL, leaving us way too soon.

This is timeless. That part about "Old lovers being good friends" just resonates. In my experience, it's better to not stay friends. Yes, be friendly with each other if paths cross and don't try to avoid one another. But don't go beyond a polite conversation at say a big gathering with mutual friends. Something that may seem innocuous such as lunch or a non-emergency phone conversation could complicate things and re-ignite that old flame. Sometimes it's best for both parties to keep one's distance so both can move forward.

I go right back to LA in the 70s when I hear this. What a great place, great time. So happy I’ve lived to hear the greatest music.

This is such a beautiful song. It never seems to get old. I think of this tune as a timeless classic. It's a shame that no one, that I know of, is making songs like this any more.

@@melodymcdonald2140 and “Seeing You Again”, “The Reach”, “Wysteria”, “Whispers in the Wind”and just so many more. Dan’s music was amazing. To truly understand the depth of Dan’s music one must reach beyond the radio hits.

OMG! All time favorite- I just experienced this type of situation a couple years back- this song and “Old Lang Syne” (sp) by Dan Folgerberg have been played repeatedly since- already loved both songs, then that day happened.. however both of us already taken, after 20 years.. - talk about self control!! This and “Old Lang Syne” immediately came to mind and started a loop...❤️❤️✌️

Memories of the life I left behind...what I mean by this lyric is I am referring to my youth. I only wish I could be there again because life, for me was so much simpler and the music, well the music just meant so much. And as we get older and listen to those tunes our memories come flooding back. Where we were, what we were doing who was in our lives at the time, etc., It takes on a deeper meaning. Once again brother Jamel, it makes me happy to see you enjoy what I/we enjoyed then and still enjoy now! moreover, I really appreciate you opening your mind, heart and ears to this music.
