The best part of this video was watching the two of you holding hands as you walked thru the hallway. I could feel the love the two of you have for each other. What an inspiring story about the two of you.

Spain's history is so fascinating. Modern Spain atop medieval Spain atop Muslim Spain atop Roman Spain, and Rome wasn't even first. I'm in for as many vids like this as you want to make, it was fun.

This video is incredibly interesting because of the history lessons and cultural sites and sailing. You’ve combined Rick Steves Europe and the Shards from Distant Shores. Pure Gold.

I don't know any kids really excited about history. You almost have to be an adult to appreciate the magnitude of what the Romans did and the fact that a lot of it is still standing after thousands of years. Loved the history lesson and the video. Any travel experience is a learning experience in some way. All the places you have been are extraordinary and I enjoy watching your adventures. Thanks so much!!

I agree! Mind you, I always had a suspicion that history was actually really interesting, but my high school history teacher was the WORST- one of those teachers that literally everyone, including other teachers, despised- so that was the end of that.

Most beautiful visit and well filmed . I am a bit anoid and immensely thankful that you took the time to let us read the various information placards available to on site visitors. You see, anything Roman and I am in. I READ EVERYTHING and it made me late for an appointment. LOL No mater , it was time well spent. LOL

This is my favorite video you've ever done. I come back to watch it periodically. The opening is my favorite, but I also love you showing us the amazing history that can be found in what many of us would consider a nondescript city far down on our list of things that might be interesting. You show us how wrong we are.

I'm only 45 seconds in but I had to stop to say... that open was simply magical. That music. People don't realize how important music is. That is the best 45 seconds of footage you've ever produced. (Although I *am* still partial to the few seconds at the end of most videos where Nick reaches out of the computer and clicks the laptop's mouse button.)

This is what wiki says about the city:
Tarragona is a port city in northeastern Spain’s Catalonia region. Many ancient ruins remain from its time as the Roman colony of Tarraco. The Amfiteatre Romà is a 2nd-century arena facing the Mediterranean, the Necropolis contains Roman tombs, and traces of the Forum stand among the alleys of the walled, medieval Old Town. A walkway along the ramparts, the Passeig Arqueològic, has sweeping views of the city.
I love who you two did a review of this beautiful city and I was quite surprised and impressed by the augment reality.
Also: did you adopt that cat? It's a lot cheaper than a Lagoon.

What a great use for AR, every history place should have something like that. I imagine those tunnels were either very smoky or very dark "back in the day", you could see holes in the ceiling, but I'm thinking they wouldn't have drafted that much of the smoke out (assuming torches were the main source of light?).

That history is fascinating partly because Roman settlement of Spain ultimately resulted in Hannibal, a Carthaginian General, to lead his Army (including Elephants) to attack the Romans in Spain in 219 (second Punic War) and then to lead the Army across the Pyrenees and Alps to attack Central Italy. One of the most famous military campaigns in European history.

8:37 - Terysa, I've come to the sense that one must have lived a good while and experienced some larger events before history takes any particular interest. For me at least, anyway. Btw, you must have spent significant time in the UK; your "Aussie" is well disguised as "Brit" to me :D

History lesson from Taragona was great. I bet the chariot racing was fun. Just like these days, the Spanish love MotoGP. I was at Jerez for the racing a few weeks ago. I am not so keen on the Catholic parades. I find the drum beating and the Klu Klux Kan style hats rather sinister. The city looks great. I must put Taragona on my to do list.

Reminds me of Palma de Majorca during a festival in 1984, probably around Easter . I was chatting up a nice Spanish lady (with her leg in a cast) with my lousy high school Spanish, when down the street came a parade of hooded marchers carrying crosses (to me looked like a bunch of KKK marchers in red) and an Christian object on the shoulders of a few of them bringing up the rear. I had no idea what was going on, she tried to explain, it was futile because of the language barrier. She reached into an ashtray and marked a cross on my brow, not being Catholic, that didn't help. We had a good time though!

They were referring to the circus,
where they had chariot races 2,000
years ago. Not the modern day circuses with clowns and acrobats. So in theory they are
      not wrong.

So glad you enjoyed Tarragona, I'll be there in just over a month :-) Also you were on the same pontoon as dads boat, which is exactly where I'll be!
Since I'm bringing the gf this year I'll be doing the tourist thing ! WHAT is that phone app?!

I can’t remember what it was called but there’s signs for it everywhere in Tarragona. Have fun! Get the multi pass! It was only €7!

@@sailingrubyrose I did the multi pass last time I took a friend around the town but I think the VR stuff must be new, I've not seen that before!
