Why is it you never lose your engine in the "best" possible place? As you can tell I'm about a week behind watching your videos. I took a week to do some sailing myself on the Chesapeake Bay. Myself, 3 other crew members, and a skipper. Had a wonderful time, learned a lot, made great friends, and didn't break anything! Now for the next catamaran video. Really looking forward to the canal videos, the instagram photos look great! Cheers, Rick
Okay, the two of you just have to quit having so much fun. If everyone got along like you guys it would be a way better world. Keep smiling and sail on.

I saw La Sagrada Familia back in 1977 and it was mindboggling back then! It's great to see the progress since then. The interior shots I've seen recently are beyond amazing!! Keep on keeping on you two!
I'm sitting in my easy chair.....suddenly infused with adrenaline due to watching the rush of bodies reacting to a stalled engine in Ruby Rose that's surrounded by other boats. Lordy. Well, you made up for that by showing the name of a beautiful song I've been trying to find for weeks. I can be tense, like a bit ago, and this beautiful music that turns out to be "Sweet Embrace" comes on with this wonderful calming sound.....and makes me whole again. Thank you for listing that song and for this episode!!
@@sailingrubyrose I watched every episode in like 2 days with my wife, cast to my bigscreen TV. Your cinematography is excellent! By far the best sailing and travel series I have seen. This could be on the travel channel.

Too bad you could not get into the cathedral. I have been there and it is worth the effort to do that. Also, getting closer reveals so much more amazing detail, the mind just boggles. We were able to ascend to near the pinnacle of one of the amazing spires via an elevator in one case, and a tiny claustrophobic spiral staircase in another. This was about 20 years ago, so i guess there is a lot more traffic now. I do enjoy your content very much. Thank you thank you thank you
Hi guys, happy to have found your channel as I take my first sailing lessons in Lake Ontario Canada so I still have a long way to go to get where you are but I'm enjoying every second of it., Cheers and safe travels, J

7 years living in Spain and as much as we can say about the Spanish and there wonderful stuck in there ways attitude you gotta love them from time to time, I mean when the engine cuts out and your both dipping into a little bit of stress mode and bouncing off things you can just hear little Juan in the background giving it “si si perfecto” 👋 😂 🤷🏽♂️ as usual tho you both handed situation like champs 👍🏽😎
We loved Barcelona. So much to see. Only issue is it’s a bit crowded. Not like New York where it’s filthy but lots of people yet clean and organized. The Familia church was spectacular as well as the food there.
Great video guys. Great content. Side comment...my wife & I were just in Barcelona May 12-14. Stayed near "your" marina & walked around the beautiful marina during that super yacht show (where they all blew their horns at 5PM local)! Luckily our tour guide was able to secure us tickets to get into the Sagrada Familia.
Brother, you kept your cool during that engine that died!👍 I will be one the water as a live aboard in 2&1/2 years. Still coming up with the TH-cam channel. I sure hope to run into you both one day .my wife and I can't wait to live that life or ant least give it a good go😀
Med mooring style looks so stressful in general with all those anchor ropes everywhere in the lanes and rubbing up with other vessels. Thankfully it doesn't feature elsewhere much in the world.
Hi Guy's, yes agree with most below, good composure. Had the same happen a couple of times, also had to sail into my marina once after engine stopping, because there was no support vessel on duty and I was already into the marina outer entrance channel, couldn't turn around and it's easy into our marina to the visiting berth, just need a plan as to what sails are on or off at one time and then just needed help to stop if the heaving line missed the marina bollard. Shit Happens, as long as no other boat is damaged and no one is injured, it's just a little self-pride damaged, all is ok. Cheers, good stuff guys.
Oh wow ... Barcelona (pronounced Bathelona by the locals) is the only European city I have spent any time in and your video brought back many memories. especially in the Gothic Quarter where we stayed and the lovely lane ways, the amazing graffiti and the Sangride Famlia (excuse the spelling I did). Another highlight for us was the Picasso museum. Thanks guys. Making this comment before the end but did you see the wooden submarine?
@@sailingrubyrose Perhaps you should consider "polishing" the fuel in the tank? Yet another where I learn something new. Amazing church, just think the original builders had no computers or massive cranes yet they were able to construct such incredible buildings simply spectacular.
If you have 'black specks' in the fuel, there are filters (No??) to take care of them. No, there's probably something in your maneuver mechanism that's not functioning alright. Cathedrals took normally hundreds of years to build at the time there was an interest for such constructions, so also that of Barcelona. Fantastic video, you really have a knack for capturing the smell of Spain, I felt a whiff of it in front of my computer!
Another scenic and informative vid...Barcelona looks like a really interesting place to visit so thanks for the glimpse but I did notice that there was something missing....what was it....Oooohhh yeah, No Nick ranting or raving...Terysa, the sedatives in his morning coffee appear to be working! 😏
My Basil Fawlty moment....many years ago taking a flight YVR-LAX. I had prebooked my seat..window bulkhead seat...configuration of cabin was 3 seats/aisle/3 seats. Having boarded the flight to get to my seat there was a couple sitting in the window and middle seat, so one of them was sitting in my seat. I asked them to move so I could sit in my seat...they were obliging, BUT as they went to move, I noticed both of them had no legs...they had been pre-boarded! So I quickly sat in the aisle seat and shut up, and was so embarrased😂
My research shows that the Maltese Falcon is now owned by a charter company and James Dyson owns one of the last three large steam yachts, the 1930 built Nahlin. No matter though, all are cool to see.
La Sagrada Familia is an unusually clever designed building, with a technique that is quite mind blowing, yet simple. In the museum Casa Milà they show how it was done. And it is one of the most interesting museums in the world.
Coming into Baltimore's Inner Harbor on a Holiday weekend my transmission quit! So many boats you could walk across the harbor on boats. I could've pick up a dime with my butt!
Stress but handled well - Cats have two engines... and if your lucky bow thruster. Sail safe and be blessed. Are there good filters or two before you take it on from the marinas?
Great upload thanks. My 'oldish' mum retired to Mojácar (Mo-hak-er), Almeria , Spain - Spain for the Spanish so to speak! But Barcelona looks a pretty darn cool place to visit? I'll give it a go next time I'm over there :)
I read some advice on fuel refills a few years ago from Carolyn Shearlock of The Boat Galley. She advised to never fill your fuel tanks directly from a fuel dock, but to fill jerry cans, then use a shaker siphon and baja filter or Mr Funnel filter to fill your fuel tanks. This way you never put dirty fuel in your tank. It may sound like a bit of trouble but to me it's well worth it to make sure I don't experience what you describe in this video. Now if you don't want to do the fuel transfer, just use the Mr Funnel filter when you fill your tank from the fuel dock. The filter comes in 3 sizes with the middle size costing about $25 US on Amazon. Check out this field test video of the filter. Water will not go through, but it will allow diesel or gas. th-cam.com/video/5exQCUaBc7I/w-d-xo.html

Nick When using a biocide in the fuel / fuel system you need to realize you are killing the algae. That is a good thing but be aware that the algae sinks to the bottom of the tank. It is then picked up in the fuel line and then sent into the filters both primary and secondary. The filters will have to be changed fairly regularly. If and when you get into ruff seas this will stir the tank up with the algae. Be very careful if this dabree gets into the high pressure pump and the injectors you will have a major expense on your hands not to mention the time loss from sailing. Load up on filter elements.
