  • In this video we will showcase the country of Panama, why it is a popular tourist, retirement, and expat destination, and why after visiting Panama five times, I chose it as a country to move to.
    We will cover demographics, weather, a bit on housing, food, parts of Panama I have explored, infrastructure, healthcare, and more. We will also discuss what it is like for me to travel to Panama with Cerebral Palsy. Welcome to Abroad Ability and why I want to move to Panama.

    I've been convinced to move to Panama for my retirement. I'm a Belgian National and I've checked the pension cab be paid into a Panamean account, which I'll open it during my visit early November, the critical reason is tax. Indeed if I remain in Belgium my pension will be taxed, the difference will be more than 700 dollars in my pocket. This is enough for me to run away from my cold country . Hugue from Brussels

    Hello! I use a wheelchair full-time and I am trying to find which neighborhoods in Panama City have the best sidewalks. Other than Costa Del Este. I know that one is great but very expensive. Do you have a recommendation of a particular building where I could rent a one bedroom apartment and be able to roll out the door to shops and grocery stores a block or two away? It doesn’t have to be everything accessible, but it would be nice to be connected to another block or two of choices. I really appreciate your input. And I love your videos!

    • @AbroadAbility
      @AbroadAbility  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Lily! Thanks for your comment about my videos! I haven’t actually encountered any of the top of my head. Costa del Este would have been my first guess. Have you worked with a realtor here yet? Much to my dismay, I actually am not that familiar with the City yet to give you that kind of advice. What I have had to traverse varies from block to block but I have not paid attention to that in relation to stores.

    • @lillylongshore4422
      @lillylongshore4422 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh bummer! I was hoping you would have insights. I am not ready to work with the realtor because I am still just visiting. I’m not ready to actually move. I need to know so much more. I am just looking for a place to stay/rent where I can roll out the door and at least to a few stores. I have no idea what neighborhoods I should choose within Panama City. Thank you, though, and keep up your wonderful work!

    I am from a Jamaican background, but have relatives in Panama due to a close relative moving there to work on the canal and eventually settling and marrying a Panamanian. His descendants are all bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. Now, with expats moving in from Anglophonic countries, with an already large Anglo speaking Caribbean community in existence, is it really going to be necessary to learn Spanish to live there in the future?

    • @AbroadAbility
      @AbroadAbility  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sandra, I like your thought process. I had similar questions but that was what was listed when I searched it. Panama is filled with people from various cultures, counties, and skin tones. That list was not all encompassing in my opinion. Vgirl touched on the options she was given to select her ethnicity in Panama in this video. th-cam.com/video/1oHgnLZc2TM/w-d-xo.html

    • @sandrabrown3387
      @sandrabrown3387 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AbroadAbility Yes, I watched the video. She’s like most Americans- brainwashed into stripping brown skin people of their nationality and labeling them “black”. If you’re born in Panama, you’re Panamanian - regardless of ethnicity or skin tone. If your sibling is darker than you - the sibling is labeled “black Panamanian”, but, the lighter sibling is considered Panamanian? Time to think about our words. Meanwhile, your videos are perfect and I enjoy them immensely! You are such an inspiration. I received my Mexican residency in June but, was really torn between Mx & Panama. I’m thinking real hard about Panama, again - thanks to you!
