Blessings to you! I lived in Panama for 2 years prior to relocating to Africa. I will always love Panama as my first home abroad! But now in Zambia I've truly found home, peace and the love of my peeps! Thanks for keeping it real.

It's exactly the same minus the garbage issue. 😂 I'll take it. So nice to find you and your channel. Best of luck to you from another West Indian single retired abroad. ❤
Thank you for this video. I visited Panama recently and yes a beautiful country. Thank you for explaining the culture. I agree and yes the garbage has to get better. I would also get involved to help out where I can. Great explanations 😊

The Manana attitude is something real & my husband still has issues with it. I go with the flow & it bothers me less. Another thing is when one goes shopping, if you like a particular product, get multiple amounts, because there is no guarntee that they'll keep restocking the same item. Another helpful idea is to understand customer service is that many people are not paid that well in Panama, so a retail position is more about an social outlet vs a real career. The minimum wage is around $4/hour depending on the job, so they are pleasant but not highly motivated to make it a great experience for you.

I was born on the Canal Zone and left at 14 for the US. I am considering returning as an Expat. I really enjoy your presentation. I will continue to watch your channel. I hope it gives me the courage to relocate.❤🙏🏽
Thank you so much. Many Panamanians who have left are returning. Thank you for watching and for your comment. Please consider subscribing and liking the video... it helps push it and showing it to more people.
I’m glad I found your channel. I’m a single woman over 65. I’ve been visiting Panama for 11 years, but only moved here on my 8th visit in August 2023. From all the previous visits I knew exactly what I was in for before moving here. 😂 I’m living now in Alto Boquete and loving it. Your video here is spot on! Thank you for your honest information. It will help so many to understand that Panamá is NOT going to be like where they’re from. 👍🏻 BTW, I’m still trying to find the eye bags you think you have! If they’re there, they’re hidden somewhere in your beautiful face! You have a wonderful sense of humor, and thank you for sharing!
Oh...thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and observation. Boquete is beautiful. I housesat a cat in Jaramillo during this year's feria. The views..oh my. I'm so glad you're enjoying Panama.
No worries Sis, you’re gonna be on a roll with your subscriptions. You are so genuine and relatable. I’m at that stage, also as a RN, 30+ years of service) and at 65 years next year, I am planning for retirement . Looking for a country to relocate to. Warm weather, good health care, and less expense, community are what are important to me. I love how genuine you are. You’re winning in your communication!😊
Thank you for this excellent insight into everyday culture in Panama! I have watched many, many videos about becoming an expat in Central or South America and Europe, but this, THIS, is what possible future immigrants from the US (at least) need to know to navigate another country successfully! The day-to-day, the bureaucracy, how the local population conduct their lives! Thank you so much for this fabulous video!
Single, retired RN too. Your videos are very informative and real. I’m looking at Panama City because I ❤ a city vibe. Hope to meet you someday. Keep up the fantastic work.
I am thankful to the Lord for finding your channel. I am a single woman, but not yet old enough to retire. I am actually praying the Lord makes a way for me to be able to relocate to Panama even while I am still working. Thank you for providing this great information. God bless you!
So much fun to watch you as you come to live in Panama. I lived in the country some years ago and everything you say is right on. With all the quirks and problems, I love Panama and you made me want to move back. Everything except the heat. Dios mio !!!
Hi...thanks for reaching out. For the heat, you have options..Boquete, Cerro Azul and others. C'mon, you know you want to come back. Panama was just voted the number one spot for expats. Thanks for your comment and for subscribing to the channel.

New subbie and I am loving the channel. I am Liberian and I am laughing because I experienced the same challenges while visiting Liberia. 🇱🇷 . It is just the way it is in these countries. 😊😊
Thank you for the transparency. I want to start travelling so I can transplant somewhere else. My grandfather is Panamanian and I was always interested in visiting. I will put it on my Bucket List.
Yes, please do... come for a visit... you never know. I came to see the canal and here I am 😀..no Panamanian connections thought. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

I just discovered your channel, and really love your positive spirit! New subscriber, single woman, living in the UK, and planning to retire abroad in the next 3 years.
Thanks for subbing! You are exactly the person these videos are for. Please keep watching and hopefully they will help you cement your choice as a retirement spot. Don't count Panama out though..there are Europeans here as well. Happy planning.
I’m just starting to look around to a different country to retire to and Panama is high on my list. Thank you for the information you are great. Most of central and South America are laid back compared to US.
Hi, somehow I missed your comment. Thank you for the feedback. You'll love Panama, Please continue to watch, check out the other videos and consider subscribing.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a LPN in Florida and I too am considering Panama for retirement. Hoping to be able to continue to practice on a part time basis… We will be taking a tour this April 2025, I am so excited for the opportunity to get away from the taxes, crime, the politics of the USA… you are so kind and helpful… you are so gracious and encouraging, but with the honesty that you have you are surely going to thrive in Panama… Many blessings to you…

I also visited Panama the first week of June this past June. I enjoyed it so much. I’m going back for my birthday in January. I definitely agree to a lot that was said. It was very hot and humid and I’m from Mississippi. Whewww. Totally different heat and humidity. Overall I loved it. The food was soooooo good. My goodness. 😊
I know. Panama has so much to offer that we put up with the heat...we adjust. You can choose the mountains though where it is cooler. I'm glad you had a good time during your visit.
Thank you for this info. I am retired health care professional and have Panama on my shortlist to spend a few months out of each year. Some of this sounds familiar as I lived in the Philippines near Manila for almost 3 years. I did drive there but it was tricky, and stressful. The rule of the road unofficially was the largest vehicle has the right of way. I don't believe I would seek to drive in Panama as it sounds similar. I know I would prefer Panama City for the ease of getting around and close to airport. The weather sounds like the Philippines too. What I have found was there is no perfect place you just make it perfect to suit yourself whatever that takes. BTW in the Philippines things did not get done on your time and you have to remember its' not the US.
Hi and thank you for reaching out. You are absolutely right and you will do well in Panama City which is where I am. Because you've traveled and lived abroad, it sounds like you understand the concept that "things are done differently here". Please reach out when you get to Panama... would love to connect when you get to Panama.
I really enjoyed listening to you talking about some facts about Panamá ¡ As panamanian¡ I just tell you're right. I like the way you share your opinion about this country. A very good attitude. God bless you.
The TH-cam algorithm is working!! Solo female hopeful future expat here 😊! I'd probably be exploring central America right now if i didn't have two large dogs to take care of here in the USA. I'm so glad i found your channel! I'm off to watch your video about bringing pets to Panama now ❤.

Hi Maggie, I just came across your channel & enjoyed it a lot…loved your personality😊 I relocated to Panama 7 mths ago & is loving it. The 9 topics you shared were on point…I agree with them 💯. Hi...I'm so glad you found the info useful. Knowing thyself is the best way to make the best decision for you. Thanks for reaching out and for your comment.
My girl, you look amazing for 65. I subscribed because your vibrations so matched mine. I 'm looking to retire next year when I turn 65. I'm also looking at South America and want to visit a few countries before parking. I will reach out to you later for info when I'm looking for accommodation in Panama. I was born in Trinidad raised in UK, and now live in Canada. But most places outside of Western countries experience the same slow pace and things get done when they get done. You're from the Caribbean so you know!! The Mediterranean is a Western exception though. For the longest time, has siestas for lunch where they leave work, everything closes and they return after 2 or more hours. All that's changing though. The powers that be want a 6 day work week in Spain. Anyways I just came across your channel and I enjoyed your energy.

Whenever I get the opportunity to put my feet on the ground of any of those countries my Heart and Spirit will know the Answer. Thank YOU 🙏🏾. I Love YOU My Dear Madam ❤
Thanks for the great information. Have been seeing all the positive videos from others on Panama relocation, but the things you mentioned are important to know! Love your personality and laugh :)
Wonderful video! So many of these points apply to Mexico as well. I don’t know if this is true in Panama, but in Mexico the pay structure is so low that one local friend told me, laughing, “Well, they pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.” It helps put things into perspective I think!
Maggie, I enjoy your videos so very much! Thank you for making them. You always put a smile on my face or make me laugh along with providing such great content.
There are pros and cons everywhere. I currently live in Port Saint Lucie, FL and I can’t wait to get out of this rat race here in Florida. I have been to Panama four times and I love the country and I can’t wait to retire to Panama in two years.

From contemplating to exciting! I love it ❤ planning to make a move next year. Coming on 3 weeks stay in July and looking forward to it. I hope to meet you someday:)
I do spend consecutive months in Panama ( less than 6 months) and over the years I still hate the TRASH smell and sight sometimes strewn around. In the El Cangrejo area on street corners in the evenings , as a senior single man, I have been approached by INSISTING single women on street corners and I hated it and felt scared by their insisting manner. Their Christmas and New Year LONG holiday even for medical and nursing professionals was a deterrent. Sorry if I sound negative !
Hi, and thanks for your comment. No, there are issues here that might be a put off to some. As much as I love Panama, I am aware of the challenges it faces. You don't sound negative...just verbalizing experience.. and I do understand. Thanks for watching my video(s) and for reaching out.
Buen día Lady........ I really like the way you explain the things about your stain at this country, specially through your sincerally smile. Hope you keep enjoying Panama for ever.
Hi Maggie, I am a single Nurse Practitioner and planning to semiretire in about 5-9 years. I have been slowly doing my research and am elated to have found your channel. I would like to move there and start a business. So I have a lot of research to do and questions that will need to be answered.

Hi...thanks for reaching out. Bless your heart...that drive is something to behold. This morning was no different on that Interamerican Hwy. I'm still indecisive as to whether I want to drive in that traffic. El Valle is beautiful. Thanks for writing. Love your videos.
I love your down-to-"earthness." This video, like many others, provides so much good information about relocating as a single woman. I've learned from videos about different areas, housing, connecting with others (local and ex-pats), culture, etc., etc. It's all really good, but I never hear about spiritual life. My ears perked up when you said, "the number of [remaining] years the Lord will give." As a Christian who cherishes my relationship with the Lord, it would be so nice to worship with others of the same faith in a new homeland. Nevertheless, thanks again for your video. Really informative. I hope your platform blossoms! ❣
Catching a bus there, sounds like Italy. I had to giggle with you. Thankfully, I was forewarned that I may be stampeded once the bus door opened. I am doing a deep dive on retiring abroad. This video is very helpful. Panama sounds like a Godsend for one’s blood pressure, if you are calm. Your list has become my deal breaker, because I have never learned to relax. 🤣🤣
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing this information. You have such a great laugh and I can tell you're living life to the fullest there in Panama! I'm interested in learning more so I definitely subscribed ❤
Americans are spoiled. We are so used to having what we want when we want it and we usually get it. You are so on point with your advice. And except for the trash issues, your points can be applied to moving to any country. I live in the U.S. now…but a couple of points…people should make a trip to their desired country and stay for 3 months. I would like to hear more about learning the language and building a community in your new home. Because I think that those would be very important for living in another country. Looking forward to more.
You are absolutely right. Learning the language takes forethought. Once you have an idea where you want to retire, you should invest in learning the language...dual lingo, Rosetta Stone or a private tutor. People get told that it does not matter, but in does long term. Same applies to building community, start before moving and then become intentional about meeting people and developing meaningful relationships. Like every good thing, it will take time. Thanks for watching.
Hello again, Maggie! Thanks for taking the time to respond. I’m not at retirement yet, but I’m one of those that want to relocate for the serenity that Panama has to offer. I just started doing my own research and looking more into Panama about three weeks ago. I have one question, how do I go about finding employment in Panama. Would you so kindly share job hosting sites that are used in Panama or companies that You may know that does job placements. I am primarily open to working from home opportunities but to start I am willing to take any employment that I can find. Thanks so much for your help.
@@Urglidejeanjulien Hi there. Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, Panama has a long list of protected professions reserved only for Panamanians...including healthcare, legal and a bunch of others. You can only work if you are a citizen. The only way around that is to work for an international company. They will arrange to get you a work permit. You can work online (not taxed) as a self-employed or a digital nomad. Nurses can secure an online job with a US based company and continue working online when they move to Panama.

The heat may be a deterrent for me.
Hi, thanks for your comment. Panama has various climates. Some areas in the mountain areas are cooler and more pleasant. Give it a try.. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
I am so glad I found your channel this is exactly what I needed I have been thinking about retiring abroad for a while now and Panama was at the top of my list of countries to retire thank you

I’m just starting to look around to a different country to retire to and Panama is high on my list. Thank you for the information you are great. Most of central and South America are laid back compared to US.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a LPN in Florida and I too am considering Panama for retirement.
@@singlewomenretiringabroad I will definitely look into the mountains. Where do you suggest?
@@alexisdejohn1349 You have choices. Boquete and Volcan in Chiriqui are favorites. There is also Cerro Azul and Altos de Maria closer to the city.

@@judithbarnes7260 great. Thanks for watching .

Yes you can. There is a lot of information around about Panama and lots of Canadians here. Thanks for reaching out.

Thank you Maggie!!! Very good information. Planning my move for early 2025. Would love to meet you.
