OMG all the Negative comments about using packaged gravy and canned biscuits. I know how to make all from scratch but sometimes it’s just a LOT easier to do it this way. Thumbs up for showing beginners how to cook in a Dutch and I’m sure most of the people that commented negatively don’t even own one. You just gained a new Sub with me. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Billy. I appreciate that. Yes, this is my simplified version and I did get some negative comments. LOL. It is so delicious and easy. Here is a link to my biscuits and gravy from scratch. Check it out. Thanks for watching, subscribing and your comment. Have a great day. th-cam.com/video/7Sp1M1Dnc1k/w-d-xo.html
Outdoor Cooking with Al I totally agree!!! I’m amazing at what these Dutch ovens can do!!! Who cares about packaged gravy...being able to make a meal with that technique is impressive.
OK, making biscuits from scratch out in the field is really tough, so using canned biscuits from a pop-open tube isn't anything to make fun of. However, there's no excuse for gravy mix. It's super easy to leave the sausage drippings in the pot with the sausage, add enough flour to about equal the amount of grease and cook and stir that together until the grease absorbs the flour. That makes a roux. Then, just add some whole milk slowly and stir as it comes to a low simmer and thickens up. That's REAL gravy. If you're using well seasoned sausage, you shouldn't need more than a pinch of salt and maybe some fresh ground black pepper. You can bake the biscuits on top of the sausage before adding the flour if you want, or you can move the sausage gravy to a separate pan while you bake the biscuits.
I'm hungry! I'll eat that wonderfull chow, then go kill, hunt, fish, clean, smoke & fuck all day! This nigga dont axe fo much! Because....."we can skin a buck, we can run a trap line....."
You have some awesome toys I've never seen. The combination ladle / strainer. I've never seen a contraption like that to lift a lid. I guess it has a secondary purpose of holding the lid off the ground if there's nowhere to leave it while it's off during cooking. The fire bowl is a nice touch you don't have to bend over or sit the ground like a little kid! Thank you for your ideas. Stuck in the city always trying to escape...
+Coalcracker Bushcraft Thanks Dan. Miss you guys. Jenny and I will get out to PA soon. Love your videos. Have a great night. Tell everyone hi from us. Talk to you soon.
Exactly! When I heard him say 6pkgs gravy mix! I exited the vid and came to see if anyone else was dismayed. Glad to see he is receptive to real gravy making.
Loved this. For us, camp cooking is about simplicity and ease of getting food in our bellies after a long hike or drive in our camper van. I think we'll be trying this, looks great!
My mind is blown... I'm gonna have to get me a dutch oven. I use cast iron skillets on a regular basis, but have never had a dutch oven.. Those looked awesome man! Great Video!
Looks great. Loved your flexibility with the weather. Nice to see some shortcuts for making things a little easier for families. Also loved the surroundings. Reminds me of the Tri-Cities where I live in WA. Interested in seeing where you found the lid lifter. I had never seen one quite like it. Thank you for leaving the link for Campmaid products.
Looks yummy. One thing about packaged gravy mix, its quick, easy, and convenient when camping. I have had good results reducing the water by about 15-20%. For 6 packages I use 5 cups of water. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks Amy. The package gravy is very convenient for sure. I will try your formula. Here is a biscuits and gravy video with gravy made from scratch. I love both. Thanks for watching and your comment. th-cam.com/video/7Sp1M1Dnc1k/w-d-xo.html
Thanks definantley trying this when camping next week sorry people have attacked this so much it looks good. And to the people attacking and being rude you can take it in shove it no where did he say "made from scratch" all it was was bescuits and gravy in a dutch oven and he did exactly that you do with what youve got and try different things.
Yes it is delicious. Every time somebody comments on this easy recipe I’ll send them the link to the one I made from scratch and I never hear back from them LOL. Both recipes are delicious. Thanks for watching and your comment
Looks like a nice simple recipe for when you don't have time or resources, maybe rough camping. I might even brown that sausage in advance. I do love making biscuits and everything from scratch but, especially if it's a long weekend or if I tied one on the night before, it's nice to be able to whip up a couple of hearty meals without a lot of prep.

If you pour the grease from the sausage into a separate pan, add a healthy dose of butter (a stick at least for that recipe) and add flour until you get a nice even paste, not thick but workable, then add whole milk until you work that paste into a pourable mixture... dump her into the pan with the sausage, then add the biscuits on top of that whole mess and you got you a dynamite a brewin!
Nothing's homemade. Sorry but outdoors for me is where I make my biscuits from bacon grease with flour, water etc, and my gravy the same not packaged. I also use hot stones not coals. I did it at home. It was a great recipe, but this is what I would do next time. 400 degree oven for 40 mins. Way too salty. I used 1 packet of gravy and it cooked down too much. Next time I world double the amount of gravy, and make it myself so it's not as salty. I would also try Italian sausage because that might be less salty.
I dont care abiut the csnned or pre packaged ingredients. Tjst said this video seemed a bit.... "Lets just film as we go.and have fun" honestly I cant decide if I.like it.or not.
As children we were taught to eat grains more finely ground than our very teeth could grind and to eat meat that our digestive system cannot break down. As adults we watch You Tube and die young.
Great looking feed mate but if i used that lid lifter down here in the bush my mates would laugh me out of the outback, lol. Whatever happened to a tent peg for lifting, lol. Cheers Moose.

Thank you !!! I love cooking outdoors it is so fun and everything is delicious, Thanks for watching, subbing and your comment. Have a great day !!!
That sounds great. I will try that for sure. Thanks for letting me know. Have a great day.
I need to make Those. I always cheat....
They are so good. Thank you !!!
Sausage means mined meat in USA?
Sausage is ground seasoned pork
That's what I am talking about!

I dont care abiut the csnned or pre packaged ingredients. Tjst said this video seemed a bit.... "Lets just film as we go.and have fun" honestly I cant decide if I.like it.or not.
Gravy looked like water. Cool idea though.
