EXACTLY what I was hoping to see and learn. How often can you say you found EXACTLY what you were looking for on TH-cam without seeing 10 or 15 videos first. Thank you, Thank you!!!
Im new to Dutch ovens and wow after only 10 minutes in I had to stop and write a comment. You are smart, thoughtful and so specific in your knowledge of the great outdoors. Thanks to you.
Great host and, like others have said, best instructor on Dutch ovens, I’ve seen on this platform. Seeing the top turned into a griddle changed my life!!😊 Hope more videos from this instructor will be posted.
True, and you wouldn't want to use a material that conducts heat really well for this type of cooking because you'd just end up burning all your food. That's why I don't like cooking with copper or aluminum.
Thank you for doing this. It is really handy to share with other people instead of having to expect them to memorize it when you're in the woods or camp!! Gotta try that dump cake this coming weekend....
Thanks for the hard work you really put I to the video I love cookie g in the Dutch oven and I learned even more than I ever thought I would. Outstanding
I live in Arkansas and have two dutch ovens which was made by Lodge and I love them both. One have legs for cooking outside, and the other don't have legs so it can be used on the stove top or in the oven. We lose electricity and sometimes it takes days to get it back on so we have food ruined unless we can cook it in the dutch oven. That is a great presentation on how to use the dutch oven and I love the way she presented it. I love this video so much and the information you all have shared with us all. I believe that most people should own a dutch oven so they can cook their meals outside if they lose their electricity for any length of time and want to feed their family.
I loved the video on how to setup and cook in the dutch oven outside and that is what mine will be primarily used for. I just received my first dutch oven and is planning on using it to cook a meal outside along with a cast iron skillet which my grandmother used during her lifetime to cook with on her wood stove. We still have the large cast iron pot which my grandmother used to heat water to wash clothes in and also make lard and cracklings in during the season when hogs was killed. That pot is now cracked, but is still used in my sister's home.
Absolutely wonderful tutorial! Thank you! Very thorough! I inherited a Dutch Oven from my grandmother, and I'm looking forward to using it on my camping trips. New Sub!
I was ready to give this 5 stars but the peach cobbler bit was so underdone, I just can't. Great speaking voice and presentation, I'll try to checkout more recent videos, maybe they get better.
On using the oven bag I place it open on the table, then invert the oven and place it in the bag with the legs up, I then put the lid in on top of the legs. It seems to work well for me
At about 12 minutes, some distracting background music became noticeable. It was loud enough to drown out certain words in the presentation. Quite frustrating while trying to hear the presentation. Otherwise, great video! A nice straightforward introduction to outdoor cooking tools and how to use them safely. (I never heard of a coal chimney. Great invention!)Cant wait to make my first stew. Thanks!👍
Very good video. Be careful of the galvanized pan. The galvanized coating lets off toxic fumes when heated. I would burn a fire in it first, then start cooking. The pan is a great idea other than that.
Thanks for a great video. I’ve been grilling on a kamado grill and am planning on adding dutch oven cooking to my game. Some good info here. Would love to try homemade meatballs in the oven.
Good video, even though I have grown up around them, and have used them for years, never EVER hurts to see other peoples methods, although not much different. Except gotta be honest, peach cobbler, I just can't do it. No way. I will go with a pineapple upside down cake or a berry cobbler. I blame my grandmother. Thanks for sharing!
Oh Yeah, looked absolutely delish! Now just need to convert to gluten free and sugar free, or at least low sugar, gonna have fun experimenting with that. Very informative video too and now I've got some formulas to use. Thank you so much.
You will need to rotate your oven a lot more with a wood fire, also be cautious of your temps as a straight fire can be hotter. I believe we explain the hand temperature gauge technique above. depending on how long you can hold your hand near the fire is a good estimation on how high the temperature is... Now if you are using wood charcoal that is a different story and we would suggest you perfecting the hand temperature gauge technique.
Yes, don't 350 and 45 minutes or so is ideal. It depends on outside temps, etc. The parchment is all you need to use...although you can skip the parchment and cook with oil as well.
This is literally the best Dutch Oven video I’ve ever watched…
The greatest yet.never have I heard such great and thorough presentation.Excellent...very much appreciate the complete video.
Going through the "Dutch Oven Cooking 101" videos this is THE most informative and educational vid out there. Thank you for putting this together.
Thank you!
So many good ideas.
Going to bookmark this.

Extremely educational! Fantastic video. Thank you!
Your presentation was calm, concise and connected. I, until now, was unaware of the 1/3 bottom, 2/3 top formula. How simple and fool-proof! Thank you.
Most educational show on TH-cam. Thanks much. I'm Zimbabwean, we have similar pots, very heavy but with a rounded bottom.
Thanks for watching in Zimbabwe!
This absolutely the best video I have ever seen on Dutch Ovens. So many questions answered, pro tips and wisdom here.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Finally, a good tutorial. Thank you from a newbie
Lyn does a great job explaining the variables in baking using the Dutch oven.
One f the best 101s....thanks for putting together
Wow. Amazing. Thanks so much. I can't wait to start cooking with this 👍🤗 You're an awesome teacher 👌😍
This video is legit. I actually learned something and watched the whole thing.
Correction: Cast Iron is a terrible conductor of heat. One of the worst metals for conducting heat. What it is though is a great retainer of heat.
True, and you wouldn't want to use a material that conducts heat really well for this type of cooking because you'd just end up burning all your food. That's why I don't like cooking with copper or aluminum.
I bought a Dutch Oven for camping. Thanks for showing me how to use it!
I am now motivated to dig out mine and get to cooking.
Excellent presentation.Very informative.
Excellent instruction. Like the others said, I learned more in this video than 10 others.
Awesome video. I got alot of information out of it, especially the charcoal formula.
I'm doing Pigs in a cornfield next weekend in mine on a 4 wheelin trip with some buddies. I can't watch enough D.O. cooking videos.

Put a tablespoon of vegtable oil on your newspaper. Let it soak in and light the paper. It does wonders.

Awesome content!
I’m already hooked!
Thank you guys!
I was hoping you would open the oven before signing off. Hope the crew enjoyed a great treat in the "outdoors."
Absolutely wonderful tutorial! Thank you! Very thorough! I inherited a Dutch Oven from my grandmother, and I'm looking forward to using it on my camping trips. New Sub!
Put the lid in bag first then the pot and the legs rest on the lid protecting the bag from the legs and airing the pot. CHEERS !
This is a great video and incredibly helpful, thank you!
You guys are awesome. Thank you for this information.
Excellent advice. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Tom for sharing all of the info.

really great tutorial - thank you, fantastic job
I use hardwood lump charcoal. It lasts longer than the bricketts and burns hotter so you use less.
This is just awesome! Thank you so much for this great video😁❤
Thank you

Thank you so much for making this video. It was just fantastic and covered a lot of the mysteries that I needed to understand to be successful.
Thank you for doing this. Very useful information.
Great video! Thank you so much!! How did this get 3 thumbs down?
I use a 28 inch plow disc for a firepan,,, your idea is much lighter,, but I do utilize the disc as a wok
Excellent video. Extremely informative, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video learned a lot !
You are so inspiring...!!!💖💖💖💖
Very good video. Be careful of the galvanized pan. The galvanized coating lets off toxic fumes when heated. I would burn a fire in it first, then start cooking. The pan is a great idea other than that.
Agree. I myself just would NOT use a galvanized metal pan at all.
Outstanding information. Thanks very much.
Very informative. I really appreciate it. Can't wait to try it out! New Sub!

How do you make the upside down pineapple and the berry one? ☝
Great information, thank you
Great info. Good video.
Great video.
Best learning ever
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful.
Awesome vid Will pass on to my buds
Once heated up I have kept the dutch oven heated up to fry fish with just as few yard sticks occasionally.
Oh Yeah, looked absolutely delish! Now just need to convert to gluten free and sugar free, or at least low sugar, gonna have fun experimenting with that.
Very informative video too and now I've got some formulas to use. Thank you so much.
I, too, am concerned about anything galvanized
New sub...great vid! 😎👍🔥🇨🇦
Thanks
Excellent video. What was the liner you used before putting in the cobbler ingredients?
Yummy !
Me to,and I subscribed 😊
What if you want to use wood instead of charcoal?
You will need to rotate your oven a lot more with a wood fire, also be cautious of your temps as a straight fire can be hotter. Is Galvanized pans safe for Dutch Oven cooking?
Where do you get the pans that you set the coals and Dutch oven in while cooking?
THANK YOU!!!!!
On the peach cobbler, I didn’t see any liquid added. Also, what kind of paper was used inside the Dutch oven?
The liquid comes from the peach cans and the butter. About the paper maybe he used wax paper the one you use for cookies.
What are you lining your ove with?
parchment paper
I wanted to more of the cake.
Do you oil the oven for the dump cake? Is that parchment in the oven for the cake? Length of cooking as on pkg?
Thank you for your tips!
Yes, don't 350 and 45 minutes or so is ideal. It depends on outside temps, etc. The parchment is all you need to use...although you can skip the parchment and cook with oil as well.
@@okwildlifedept Thank you! Enjoyed your video:)
What town are y'all in
Where did you get the round charcoal pan that holds your charcoal while cooking? Might you have a link to it?? Thanks
If you search for Metal Feed Pan in your search engine you will find a lot of places to source one.
Great video, but would have been better to hear her without the music.
Good video but I can't tàke the music.
I know they are all doing it but it takes away from informative videos.
Thanks for video just too much talking not enough cooking
Thank You so much !!!!
Thank you for watching!!
