Nice one - I thought the supermarket milk tank was a bit incongruous - you shoulda chased a cow round a field and milked it y'self. That's what I always do!
I'm loving your videos. If you ever wanna try to do the gravy like they do in the southern US, you would take the sausage out, make the rue with the fat & the flour, and then you constantly stir it until that flour gets real dark. Like darker than you would ever make any rue, almost burnt. It takes maybe 7-10 minutes over medium heat. It gives the gravy a really deep, nutty flavor. Then you add the milk slowly, constantly stirring so there's no lumps. Then you add the sausage back in. It's really good.
Hey love your show me and my wife and kids love camping here in Canada! Cant wait to teach my son and daughter some of the wonderful cooking methods you use !
You are an excellent chef. That was a remarkable breakfast you prepared and it is very obvious that you know how it’s done. Enjoy your food. It was a pleasure to watch you prepare it. Thanks for sharing and I will wait for the next episode
Nice to find this one when I thought I’d seen them all. Superb video, again. And I cannot wait for snowy mornings and biscuits (or pancakes) gravy, and eggs when the offspring visit. xx
If I might make a suggestion: try it with evaporated milk (not sweet and condensed), as it makes a thicker gravy that REALLY sticks to the biscuits. Also, play around with the sausage flavors (in America, we have jimmy dean brand. I like the sage and maple, a pound of each).
Just stumbled upon your channel recently and your videos are so relaxing. I can say as a cook living in the states these biscuits and gravy get a big thumbs up mate👍
Hey Kent ! I hope you are having a good day ! This is the 1st video I watched on your channel , so I subscribed immediately after because it was great ! I grew up in the Carolinas in the States and now live in South Carolina ! I guess I'm what people would call a country boy so I love biscuits and gravy and I make it all the time for my grandbabies ! I just bought myself a nice dutch oven its about 12 inches round and 6 deep ! I got it on close out for 10 bucks ! Since seeing your video I can't wait to try it ! I also got myself a set up for hammock camping which I also can't wait to try ! I really appreciate the great videos Kent ! Keep up the good work ! Jerry P
Hey, Thanks so much for subscribing. would love to visit the Carolinas one day.. fingers crossed :) I've not long had my dutch oven so eager to try a lot of different things, a couple already planned :) good luck with yours buddy ATB - Andy
Thanks for all these great videos. I really enjoy watching them. Great content and you get my mouth watering every time. I think I might give this one a go
Never had biscuits and gravy Andy, been to the USA and Canada a few times but never tried it... a Custard Cream and Bisto just don't seem right! Great video mate, so look forward to your chilled out vids. Cheers, Lee
Just going through your vids, looks such a relaxing way to cook...might try this when I move to my small holding on the fields ,looks fun. Thanks Kent survival.
not bad, very close to our American style biscuts and gravy. only one thing I seen that you forgot, that adds a lot of flavor ,and that is red chili flakes or crushed red pepper what ever is available where you are.. but looks good. and keep up the good cooking vids love em..
Nice one buddy looks amazing you really cook anything in the woods can't you. You have given me ideas for next time I'm in the woods and helped me think out of the box when it comes to food when out. Keep it up dude
Hey, yeah I love trying out different things on a camp fire and once I have something in mind I just have to do it to get it out of my system haha. Thanks for watching and good luck with your cooking!
I'm sure that you know, but you can make your own buttermilk. Milk and a splash of white vinegar I believe. 👍 Edit; yes, I just googled it. Or you can use a splash of lemon juice.
I like the fact that you're prepared to carry the weight of cast iron...wish I was! Personally I'm as lightweight as I feel I can get away with (yes, I do cook 'proper' food) (when I'm not being lazy) :) And yes, that does mean 'relatively' lightweight... Can you cook the 'perfect' bacon nutty in that griddle? Well, maybe the next time will be the perfect one (need to constantly practise. One day...) ;)
haha, I'm enjoying the cast iron at the moment but they need wheels :p plenty of bacon in the other breakfast vid :) Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
Good one, Checking in from the south y'all. My Sunday breakfast every other week (trying to lose weight lol) but if you try it again my family likes to throw a couple of scrambled eggs on top and lots of black pepper in the gravy
another of my favorite recipes i'm saving this as well you show me how and will make it too....when i lived is the south...i lived on this so bad for ya but...oh so good...i'm an expert on this one...yours looks yummy too :)
Cool videos you’ve got here, like the bug-out bag ones and bug-out vehicle one, it would be cool to see some proper OFF-ROADING, after all your truck can handle more than just green lanes, no point not using it. Just a though, all the best, Jake!
Andy, a couple of questions (please pardon my ignorance): the tripod made of branches from which you suspend the dutch oven -- how do you keep the tripod wood from burning. so near to your fire/heat source? Are the branches green or wet? What's the best kind of wood for those tripod legs? And do you make a new wood branch tripod with each camping trip, or do you dis-assemble the branches and re-use them over the course of time? Oh, and what are those dark balls near the ground, in between the horizontal wood lattice. Are they dung or maybe compressed mud mixed with oil? The biscuits look top notch, nice job, by the way... Thanks...
Hey. This tripod is just deadfall branches, the fire is never big enough to catch, over time they may dry out to the point they catch easier but Ill probably re-make one before then, (saying that we are getting a lot of rain now anyway). Green wood would probably be better but I don't want to needlessly cut down branches. The dark balls in my fire reflector are 'cramp balls' or 'king Alfred's burnt cakes' Its a type of fungus used as tinder, its just to help dry it out over time, I try to use a piece in my next video (publishing tomorrow) but I think it was still a little to moist. Thanks for watching again :) ATB - Andy
Kent Survival Thank you got the reply! King Alfred’s Burnt Cakes sounds like an edible from a dispensary, haha! By the way, I’m going to be making/uploading one of my asmr videos this weekend, and I sometimes mention great channels that I enjoy. Other asmr folks would enjoy the calming benefit of viewing your channel, and if it’s quite alright, I’d like to mention your channel and give you a well deserved shoutout. Thought I’d better ask first 🐥👍🍃
Hey, I basically used the all recipe one: allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/34749/american-style-buttermilk-biscuits.aspx except I just used full fat milk instead of butter milk (you can add some vinegar / lemon to make it buttermilk) and extra butter instead of addiction fat ( I halved the amounts here as it was just me) hope that helps :)
nice vid! made me hungry! first the frying pan out of the bag... then i was expecting a whole range of pots and pans, kitchen sink etc! how do you carry what you do? looks bloody heavy! 😉😊
August 23, 2019---Thanks for the video, but like others have commented on your cast iron gear, no thanks. But after watching your video, going to try it in a different way. Buy biscuits that come in a tube and a package of instant gravy. Chop up and cook a package of breakfast sausages, adding it to your cooked gravy, including the grease. Instead of regular milk, wonder how instant will work in making the gravy? I've got some pots that fit inside of each other from Walmart and Ebay via China. This way you're not carrying a lot of dead weight, though if a bear comes for you, you can always use it as a weapon. !-)
Nice one - I thought the supermarket milk tank was a bit incongruous - you shoulda chased a cow round a field and milked it y'self. That's what I always do!
haha, there are some near by but they are long horns.. didn't fancy it :p Thanks for watching Keef :) ATB - Andy
Kent Survival 💓🎂
Beautiful moon and fantastic breakfast love biscuits and gravy
I am a southern momma and you did the gravy and biscuits right. Very good, you're a keeper!
That was a great looking breakfast. A couple of eggs and some coffee you would have been set. I am hungry now. 2 thumbs up.
Thanks buddy :) I couldn't even finish this, let alone eggs too haha, thanks for watching
Nice to know we can make my favorite breakfast in the woods! Beautifully done! 🌼
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the vid :)

That's dedication to pack in 15 kilo of cast iron to make breakfast. 👊👍😎
haha, I was regretting it on the hike back a bit. Thanks for watching buddy
I recently packed a 20lbs Dutch oven to bake a loaf of bread. Achievement, yes. But at what cost!

haha, It was a good stomach liner :) Thanks for watching

homemade sausage gravy is the best. I always add a little garlic powder and/or pinch of cayenne to mine
Made just like a good old Southern boy.
Thank you, thats an honour :)
Those were some fabulous looking biscuits, sir. That's how you sop up gravy in style, right there.

We used to call this dish biquitas n gravis in my home country.
Dam that looks good 😋
damn that looks amazing
Great video, but why use baking powder and baking soda(not just baking powder)?
Great video :) What is the recipe that you use for your biscuits - quantities etc ? Thanks

I've searched online for recipes, but yours seems so much simpler. Could you please elaborate with ingredients/measures please?

Great videos Andy. Looks like you have a nice little piece of seclusion there in your part of the U.K.
Thank you indeed :) it is a great little spot out of the way which is hard in the south here so im very grateful to be able to use it :)
Nice work bro
Thanks very much :)
If you ever come to Oklahoma I’ll show how to do that,😳
I like these older videos where you had hair and weren't using the high-end equipment.
Never actually had it myself. Think I'll ha e to try it to see what it tastes like
Its not bad.. for when you want to be indulgent haha
Incredible. That is the way B n G is supposed to be. Yjmmy

Another great video, many thanks. What are the gloves you use? They seem really fireproof.
Thank you, these are some Kevlar gloves (heat / cut resistant) picked up on ebay quite cheap, I also have welders gloves for bigger jobs haha.
