    That dirt removal is crazy. I am 74, raised on the farm until the Army got me. We had a 3 bottom plow and when a little frost came we were done with tillage, it is amazing what your able too do now days.

    • @lstone.09
      @lstone.09 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Much respect goes out to anyone that's plowed with a 3 bottom plow. My grandfather spent the bulk of his life using one. It's crazy to think that he actually made a living and done quite well.
      He retired completely in from farming around 1984. He passed away in 1994 at the age of 86.

    • @lstone.09
      @lstone.09 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @fireguymel I'll agree with that. Not only was my grandfather a crop farmer, he also had a heard of milk cows, raised hogs, chickens, and worked a full-time factory job.

    • @leddielive
      @leddielive 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Your Grandfather sounded like a very cool guy, hardworking, yet loved the animals & the rural way of life, a life well lived indeed.

    • @lstone.09
      @lstone.09 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @leddielive he definitely was. Kool thing is he liked the simple things in life. He was the best man I've ever had the privilege to have met and spend time with.
      I'd have to say the best parts of my life was when I'd spend the weekend at the grandparents house. Could always count on him fixing breakfast of a morning.

    I've not seen one, but i would suggest that a farm such as yours, have a wash bay or wash room for washing machinery and trucks, pickups, etc.
    I have seen many trailer washouts. Many designed with several pits to allow sludge, and mud, and whatever will fall out of the water into settlement pits or pit designed to allow a skid or front loader to scoop out the pit of solids.
    With the costs of trucks and pickups and being in minnesnowda, a drive-thru wash bay, with something like under vehicle auto on and off water flushs and of course rinsing sprays for the outside of the vehicle's. All of this would be expensive, but the prices of new cars, pickups and trucks, a daily rinse would make a big difference in your tradein value!

    Love you guys channel, so much info, insight into large scale farming, and humor. Side note 1, my brother was a Brock bins dealer, I've had a hand in building many bin sites like yours, what a chore and tons of planning involved! Most we did in one year, 22 in one summer, mostly 48 ft 13 rings, with a few 60 ft 15 rings thrown in for fun. Side note 2, I work at an anhydrous ammonia production plant, if you ever find your self in SW Iowa, stop by and I'll give you a tour of what has been home for me the last 31 years.

    I bought snirt stopper at the Fort Wayne farm show 2 years ago… it was well worth buying, I used to have immense wind past my west facing garage doors in the winter, and it cut that down to basically nothing and if it does leak any it’s probably due to me not installing it 100% correctly

    I learned a few years after I had fields drained in the U K that the last 5 - 10 yards through ,a hedge into a stream , or just into a ditch needs to be done in non perforated pipe , so that roots , hedge or grass don’t grow into the perforated pipe and grow back into the the drain looking for moisture and completely bung the drains .
