Can i just say, Bungie actually delivered on making the Witness unsettling and threatening. It was going to be a coin toss how it ended up, but I'm totally satisfied with it.

It looked like Targe self destructed, like Sagira likely did trying to save Osiris. Targe started yelling to power himself up and it appears The Witness just closed his hand to try to suppress the explosion.

Well we're upset because he's uniquely tied to Zavala, who we know and care about. Plus what his death means for Zavala, who has always followed the traveler in its light
Because his death had relevance and his character was actually likable, to say nothing of the fact that his dialogue wasn’t just dropping bad jokes every other line.
I think so, but I believe any ghost that dies inside the traveler might be possible to bring back. Or they are setting up a way in which our guardians will be infused with the light directly, without the need for ghosts. The travelers gift to humanity for stopping the witness and saving the universe perhaps? Humanity itself becomes immortal beings wielding both light and dark? Sounds juicy. Humanity becomes Guardians of the universe or some shit.

I really thought Zavala would somehow lose his voice and Targe would translate through sign language and Tage was voiced by Keith David who after being murdered by the witness would pass on his voice to Zavala. Zavala might learn sign language from Targe when the traveler gave the ghosts knowledge and taught Zavala and Safiah because Hakim could have been deaf.
Targe was dumb for that, zavala already got the answers for how to unmake the witness and for some reason bungie decided to give targe a hero moment but absolutely zero plot armor. Zavala without light is like a computer without programs.
Zavala was silent, focused on the witness, its like he was in a trance. The dude was still statue. If Targe didnt interfere Zavala might have joined the collective conscience of the witness unwillingly
