I agree. Probably their best line.
If you think about it, Jesus Christ could have said the exact same thing when He was being beaten and crucified and would have been totally justified. But no, He said “Forgive them Father.” We are not worthy of Him. We’ve all told lies, stolen things, used His name in vain, looked with lust (Jesus called this adultery of the heart), and done other sins. God would be completely in the right if He decided not to save us, and simply sent us to hell which is what we deserve. The good news is that while we were still sinners, He accepted a replacement for us with His son who is not a sinner. The wages of sin is death, Jesus paid the fine. It’s why He said “It is finished” before He died. Paid in full. If you had court fines and someone else paid them, you’re off the hook even though you’re guilty! And even though we are guilty and deserve to suffer eternally because of our sins against the eternal God, He is loving and promises us new life after death with Him and not in hell because of what Jesus did. If you’ll repent of your sins and trust in Jesus, not your own goodness, you will be saved, not because you are good, but because He is good. All other religions try to make you the hero in your own story by working out your own salvation. But only by following Jesus do we realize we are villains unworthy of salvation, and forever thankful for being saved.

@@Archon3960excision was perfect imo. We entered the monolith where it was most powerful but also most vulnerable. We freed the light from it and in turn it fled. The vanguard then managed to intercept its escape and pin it down for us to finish what it started. It died alone and refers to itself as “I” over “we” as it now sees it www never in full control like it wanted to be. Dissenters were its flaw
The witness is usually calm, hearing him being mad is intimidating

Since Shadowkeep it has been trying to make itself appear as an benevolent angelic being who only wants what's best for the universe by appearing in the form of the player or talking to us through our ghost or speaking in a calmer softer voice in an attempt to sway us
but in this moment, when it realises that we found out that it's scared of us. It shows us its true self. A being of unfiltered and never-ending rage. a false god pretending to be a force of nature and trying to enact its own selfish vision onto the universe.

Yeah. The Witness finally showed how afraid it really was, more so since we were able to wound it, which means we could kill it and stop it from unleashing the Final Shape. Realizing this is where it decided to stop messing around and take us more seriously.
Holy shit! I love the change in the Witness' voice, when it finally stops playing with its food, so to speak.

@@izanagisburden1080 I was thinking that the Witness was trying to play with his food, with most of his focus on the ground. Remember the Witness was CONSTANTLY trying to recruit us to be a disciple of the Final Shape up to and even during the Raid.
One of the details I like is the way the witnesses hand shakes when it reaches for its head.
First time it’s been ever likely been hurt. This is the witness holding back the traveler fighting us and now it’s injured. The only time it doesn’t have to hold back the traveler is dps in the raid when we free it but in this time it’s being attacked relentlessly by us. The witness is practically holding back a god and a team of god killers at the same time

a common trope with scary villains/monsters is that the more you see of them, the less scary they are. but i found every scene with the witness to be menacing, with this scene making me feel genuine terror.

Witness has a lot of guts to accuse US of leaving only suffering in our wake.
From the witnesses perspective it’s eliminating suffering from the universe by enacting the final shape and us preventing that and allowing things to take their natural path we are directly causing all the pain and suffering that could ever happen but from our perspective we are allowing things to retain their free will
In its eyes, it’s saving the universe. Or, at least that was the case. The campaign gave a few mixed signals where The Witness came across as just wanting godhood which was super disappointing.
Hoping that’s retconned or I really believe it’ll be remembered a bit differently once time goes by.
The audacity, destiny and fate should be our own not them. They are no gods.
@@OhGummysome wanted the final shape, they were like a cult of the precursors. Others who we then free in excision didn’t and seen it as evil. The cult then gathered enough followers and they forced those who didn’t want the final shape into becoming part of the witness. They were the dissenters we see. Over time the final shape may have been changed and even its disciples don’t know what it was. I feel like originally it wasn’t to freeze the universe but over time it changed and corrupt its plan into what it eventually wanted

It also ties to how the Traveler never communicated with the Witness' people, the Precursors if you will, and how many abused the gifts the Traveler gave it leading them to seek out purpose without realizing they were meant to give themselves that, only for the Darkness to trick them from some source into seeing, as one of the Dissenters says here in "Iconoclasm", "simultaneously victims _AND_ perpetrators, condemned to fade in Light as all things do.", leading them to reshape themselves into the Witness, to give purpose they assumed the universe lacked, only for the Darkness to corrupt them, since while it is a neutral force, it still has the ability to corrupt, same as we've seen with the Light from the Warlords, before Lord Saladin and the Iron Lords would begin to lay the groundwork for the Guardians and the Vanguard.
It also ties to a quote around the Traveler from a mysterious logbook-- "The best voices never let themselves be heard at all. This lesson is worth teaching again and again. The choice is never mine. It is always yours.", showing the Traveler never spoke to any race it came to, to only guide and terraform, and to let them seek their own destiny... a lesson the Witness' people couldn't comprehend, and yet we saw even with the Eliksni before the Witness unleashed the Whirlwind, as well as humanity, that even if they tried to communicate with the Traveler or understand it, they chose to seek out their own paths rather than expect to be given one by the Traveler, like the Precursors expected.
So are we not going talk about how crow just pull out a fucking axe.
Yea for real he used up his super with the hand Cannon then perform a titan super to try to chop off witness arm guess the traveler is hurting bad or pissed off seems to me the witness planet of people are super jelly the Gardner left them for putting another god over him known as the veil and tried to Jion the two and take control and put there hands on the scale of power and the gardener wasn't having it

For those confused, Crow pulled out Saladins Axe, which he gave to Crow to Remember a lesson from him back in Season of the Risen. Great cutscenes around!
It is a nice callback for sure to Crow training with Lord Saladin, and how the axe also was resting on the H.E.L.M. after the events of Season of the Worthy.

The whole point is that you are completely frozen and incapable of change, the witness doesn't care if you're frozen in a state of happiness or sadness, it only cares that you aren't changing from that state. You wouldn't really be alive or conscious

There's a whole three discord servers dedicated to finding a fireteam for ANY activity and this is the most recent raid, no SHOT you can't find a fireteam 10 years into the franchise.

I really like that the witness isn’t underestimating us because it is aware that we are a force to be reckoned with, also we barely made it out alive, we got a lucky escape that goes to show how powerful the Witness really is, but we will always come back for next fight and the final showdown!⚔️
This cutscene is so hype for the raid the final battle against the witness and bringing everybody to the pale heart to finally finish it is a feeling like no other this dlc is a 10/10

Rasputin had a whole season building up his sacrifice before lightfall, he's not around anymore and his systems got destroyed (this is potentially the best story we've gotten with a dlc so definitely worth it if you're invested in the game, we'll see how much post campaign content we get soon)

it might be because i watch lot of anime but the witness could've done way worse than this, why stop the ship when you can crash it to the ground, why not cut the vanguard heads with his finger like he did to the ships in lightfall. i want to see them learn witness power and deflect it with their power given by the light.
It was starting to come apart, keep in mind, that wound is FRESH so it's focus wasn't exactly there 100% not to mention, the traveller is still wrestling for control of the light in the background. So the witness wasn't just battling us and the vanguard, it was fighting the traveller too, that's why we got away

Well we don't really know if the precursor race didn't return to its original state after the Witness was defeated. On its "deathbed" the Witness was losing cohesion, hinted to us by it saying: "We...I-I don't understand", which shows that it was being seperated from its fused state. I think the precursor race will still play a major role in the next storyline. Perhaps a civil war between those that had a change of ideology thanks to us and those that still cling onto their old vision of TFS.
We didn’t kill anyone. The power we are employing by blasting the witness with all the traveler’s unfiltered light is its ability to forget. The Witness is pure memory of all that compose it. When we use Ergo Sum to cut up the statues we are freeing the souls of those that comprise the Witness by forgetting them in the light, just how guardians don’t remember their past lives.

How Zavala gonna be voiced by not one but 2 black men and he cant run to save his life, cmon now. A black man would have ran from the pale heart to the tower in 2 seconds if they was being chased by the fitness🤣
