I can't think of a single more triumphant, impressive moment in gaming so far this year.
They did the best of both worlds. They made the raid feel special and impactful, while still letting everyone else experience the actual ending. Zavala even said it in the cutscene, it was one fireteam’s tireless effort that gave everyone else this 1-in-a-million chance.
It truly did feel like the end. My fear was that it was going to end feeling incomplete and not like this was the end of this saga. They did it perfectly. Even the dialogue is 10/10 you can hear the witnesses desperation. The raid has it still somewhat confident but the mission feels like pure desperation
They learned from the mistake they made with Oryx, it was one of the main issues allot of people had with the dlc, not being able to kill him because its raid only
For a villain like the witness that has been built up for 10 years, killing it in the raid would have felt a little anticlimactic since it would feel the same as Oryx. The fact that we had to go for a desperate suicide attempt to injure it, to the 19 Hour slog to separate it from the travellers light, to this last stand with the entire coalition by our side just felt right. Only way it coud've ended.
It’s been a massive part of this expansion. In the verity encounter the witness is giving us a shape and the goal is to defy that shape and make your own to escape. It also seeks to chose everything’s fate but us killing it once again is defying that and making our own fate

As soon as we were able to see it face to face again it was doomed. 15:30 this part wrecked me, I really don't know what else to say about this ending, there were so many emotions, and this relief in the music was simply sensational, one of the best missions and best soundtrack that Bungie has ever created, this idea of putting the final boss of the raid as a playable mission for 12 people it was brilliant, it managed to make all players feel the emotion of being in a raid, you feel part of the game, you are part of the game
By far the best music of this dlc and my new favorite destiny sound track of all time i wish this track was in the finale fight of the raid thou instead of what we got
It wouldn't make sense though. The reason unmade isn't triumphant is because Salvation's Edge isn't about killing the witness. It's simply about stopping the final shape. The constant "chugging" in the background along with the constant oppressive strings help convey this notion of a desperate attempt to stop time running out on the universe. Excision is when the guardian finally has the advantage on the witness hence why it's so triumphant
I just really wish they didn't change the pre-dps part in the OST. There's something about the tone it immediately sets as you get boots on the ground.

one thing i love about the witness is that it was wounded in the first confrontation, ascended and escaped. then its hold was broken, the endgame level confrontation was something i loved, i woke up to the tweet saying the witness was defeated and that all of sol was rallying for the last assualt. it was amazing. great way to let people fight the witness
@@tarmagain2771it’s also got 2 cannon meanings of “one fireteam entered the monolith to break the witnesses hold on the traveler” it can be referring to your fireteam or the worlds first whichever you want to believe
I am genuinely upset that that bit of music does not last longer. We have a few seconds of absolute peak. I feel like I transcend in those seconds
At which time in the overall song does that play?
I didn't think bungie could make a 3 phase bossfight without playing light action for 5 minutes during the first phase, but holy shit they did it
I don't think bungie could have made a better finale. Keeping the death of The Witness out of the raid to ensure that EVERYONE gets that victory feeling is some stellar decision-making, and every time I listen to Stronger Together I get all huffy and emotional.
Only way it coud've ended.
the portal visualizer goes hard ngl
My favorite part was when Cayde said "Show it why its shape aint' final!" and then we destinied all over it. Truly peak
When the witness said “The final shape is your destiny, guardians.” And our guardians responded, “that is your destiny, too.” I cried
I wish I didn't read this comment
And then the traveller stopped travelling and drifter continued drifting
I know this is a joke comment, but its weird that Cayde actually said something pretty close to that in-game.
@@flamealisk1584 Joke? What joke?
All the way back in the Vault of Glass, we were told we make our own fate.
And now here we are
It’s been a massive part of this expansion. In the verity encounter the witness is giving us a shape and the goal is to defy that shape and make your own to escape. It also seeks to chose everything’s fate but us killing it once again is defying that and making our own fate
As a funny scientist once said:
“We end as we began”
"WE. ARE. SALVATION!" Is a funny way of saying that you're gonna be a gun in 2-4 business years.
Witness is, at least partially, already a gun lol. Euphony, the Salvation's Edge exotic, is made out of Witness' arms
@@grappier5636now caital knows what Zavala meant by we could turn her into a gun if we wanted too. (If you don’t know what I’m on about look up “Zavala excuse me”
That “WE. ARE. SALVATION!” Was just pure desperation. It knew we were about to land the killing blow and couldn’t understand how. Witness wasn’t a god but it saw itself above one
@@adamboy0559It’s doom was staying inside of the traveller after getting cut from the tree of silver wings, he was on enemy territory with every single species he had beef with in the front of him.
@@guiltyspark3434 it couldn’t. The whole point in exiscion was it was intercepted trying to escape then all of sol came through the portal which is the only way out. It was then forced to defend so it sent everything at us. The dread the shadow legion the taken the scorn everything it had control of. As soon as we were able to see it face to face again it was doomed. It couldn’t escape and had the enter of sol after its head on top of that some of its voices were betraying it and the traveler was now free from it. On top of this it was severely weakened due to barley surviving the Raid. So the WE. ARE. SALVATION. Was just it’s last attempt to try make us submit to it.
I think it's safe to say
We've Become Legend.
This is definitely my Destiny too.
We…I… I don’t understand.
25:55
"What was made, can be unmade! Guardian... I know what to do. Channel the Traveller's Light through me. I'm ready."
"AAAAAAAAAGH!"
"We.... I-I don't.... understand..."
Wait last destiny music video? NOOOOOO 😢
Thank you for everything
Still love that every theme is used in stronger together; the witch queens, the guardian theme, neomunas strength motif and even a more violin and brass foccused version of the guardian theme for the fallen and cabal. Musical masterpiece.

We won’t suffer one more day with you!
Yooooo that visual goes hard
YOUR PAIN IS POISON!
Ik it’s a weird pattern recognition thing but one of the dps motifs sounds so much like the one from national treasure
I thought it was just me
Liked that little hint of oryx's theme in there
Where?
“WE ARE THE FIRST KNIFE, WE CANNOT BE CUT”
What is the pre DPS Music name?
26:29 im not crying you are
No I’m not I’ve just been looking at the screen too long
By far the best music of this dlc and my new favorite destiny sound track of all time i wish this track was in the finale fight of the raid thou instead of what we got
Unmade slander wiill NOT be tolerated.
@@-HezSEs-speak fire 🗣️🔥
I just really wish they didn't change the pre-dps part in the OST.
There's something about the tone it immediately sets as you get boots on the ground.
This is peak destiny music.
How the hell did you get that angle
I wanted to choose to side with mega mind for a alternate ending
WE are the FIRST KNIFE!!!! WE are the purpose that carved EDGING INTO BEING!!!! Your edging will be remembered..... within the SHADOW of the BLACK MEAT!!!!!
somehow i feel the need to layoff almost 40% of my staff
and get even more exotic Cars ....
