Hi Arvin, since you asked about our treasure rugs, I have a very cute Beni Ourain rug. I bought it on one of my trips to Morocco. It is so beautiful that I only use it when I am on vacation back to my apartment in Spain. I rent my apartment to Airbnb so I don't leave the rug for my guests to use ooops sorry. Also, I have a beautiful killim rug from Afghanistan that I use in my small living room. It is a dark rusty red and beige with some green touches here and there. I love it because it reflects my personality and is reminiscent of all the good moments I had in the Middle Eastern countries and Turkey during my stays.
Dear Arvin, Congratulations on being a feature with Studio McGee!!! 🎉 Thank you also for continuing to bring great content to us. Really appreciate you sharing your honest experiences on trend and home decor. All the best!
Hi Arvin! I have a bar height table from All Modern, and I love it! It only seats two, so not necessarily a dining room option. I live in a studio apartment, so having that height difference helps differentiate my spaces.
I know you just said you hated IKEA, but their Vindum shag rug is the most comfortable rug my feet have ever touched. It was at a friend’s house and I just wanted to lay on the floor. Bought one for my own living room and it doesn’t shed at all - even with two crazy cats clawing it! Plus it is speckled/heathered so it hides all dirt.
I bought a bar height table because I thought I would love it. I like sitting at them when I go out to dinner or for drinks. I literally hate the table. So I completely agree with you on that about having one in the home
Wow! Congrats on your feature! My sister had a bar height table with chair stools. She was 4'11". She had to get a step stool to sit. Really. She did. Gotta agree on grey wood. It just looks dull and dirty to me. (i don't like grey anything, tho)
We have a regular dining table and a bar height table that we got from Big Lots (BL-102-1). I have this nook set up with bar decor (neon, beer tin signs, etc.) It's great for sitting at when I'm doing something alone like on my laptop and it unfolds to seat more people which is great for when we host parties. It usually sits parallel and facing the wall, but when I pull it out and unfold it I turn it perpendicular so it still has a little cozy bar feel. It's a very versatile table and I recommend it for anyone with small spaces!
Yay, Arvin’s back! I didn’t realize how addicted I am to your videos until you took a week off 😂🤍🤍🤍 I love these because it’s always a check for me as to whether or not I’m on the right track with my home decor purchasing, and I love when I pass with flying colors 😂🤎🤎
Congrats on the feature! Well deserve, my dear. I had a pub table in my small condo. But as I'm older now, I find them to be uncomfortable to sit in for a long period. I now have a dining table from the 40s and comfy padded chairs. It also goes better with my vintage decor.
A flooring store can order any size carpet for an area rug, and if the manufacturers don't cut and bind to size ( some do)there are businesses that do it. They pick up your carpet from. The store, cut and bind it and return it to the store. It's a charge by the linear foot and you can get those wonderful fibers that have the stain proofing incorporated with the fibers in the extruder so they litteraly cannot absorb stains!! I had one made for my daughter. She would put it on the driveway, hose or pressure wash it off, let it dry , flip it over let it dry on the back, and bring it back in the house. In summer on a 100!° day it will dry both sides in a day. Great fir dogs and small children. Cheaper in larger sizes than purchasing area rugs. Also carpet remnants can be used for this purpose! Make sure they are triexta fiber!!
Kallax is perfect for areas you don't care about being "designy" though. I love them for my craft room, and our gaming room. Face it, a room full of board games, video games, D&D minis, and Marvel movie posters is never going to look chic, and it doesn't have to.
IKEA is more affordable than many of the alternatives. I’ve used my Kallax as closet organizers in two apartments with bins in each of the cubbies. I got them when I lived in a ridiculously small studio apartment with a tiny closet. I also got a wardrobe and a daybed. I had no furniture to start with and I was so happy to have an apartment that was functional and cozy. That said, since then, I’ve purchased a bistro table from Pottery Barn and a sofa from Crate and Barrel. I’ll upgrade when I can but I’m happy to have solid wood furniture from IKEA.
Many decor influencers talk about saving enough to purchase quality in your style. IMO saving money and knowing what your style is takes time to cultivate. In some situations, they are at odds with one another. You know your style but don't have the money, or you have a budget but not sure if the style is a trend or a treasure. Until I'm comfortable when the budget, quality, and style factors meet, I would purchase affordable and functional furniture in the meantime. You and I have the same decor philosophy.
I feel like it’s easy to rip on ikea but you are spot on about functionality. At the end of the day your home has to be functional not just aesthetic. I think ikea does an admiral job of being functional and trying to work in some aesthetic options (or basic cheap things that you can hack to match an aesthetic). I respect them more than RH which offers way too much faux wood items for insane prices.
I’m 50/50 on these. From a purely style point I agree on the kallax but I think they serve a purpose especially for kids rooms. I’m the opposite on Grey wood on the other hand. I completely love the cooler tones and really don’t like anything with dark wood or walnut. It’s all personal preference. Love your videos !!!
Bravo Arvin! The features of you is only the beginning. From the day you started your channel, watching the rug show, I knew you’d go far. I’m glad you got to unplug and enjoy your birthday. It’s great seeing how much you’ve grown and I have no doubt you’ll continue to grow. Xx
I agree on all accounts and i do have a burnt Orange pillow and a rusty orange sheet in my bedroom 😅 but i love them! Can i just be desert modern instead of college boho dorm room 😂
To me my favorite find during 2020 was this channel. Gave me some good laughs and so much inspo... it was just more or less a thousand subscribers- and still love this... I’m always waiting for the next video.
Hi Arvin, love your channel and your advice. There is nothing wrong with a design sense that changes over time and I have enjoyed seeing yours evolve since you started your channel. I do think it is always better to decorate with what your heart and soul are drawn to. I have been swayed into buying some things that were trendy at the time, but I got sick of those items so much faster than things I bought that may not be “what everybody is doing now”. I have always been drawn to warm tones and interesting different types of items like vintage, artistic, or just cozy. For the most part, I have had most of my current pieces for years and find my home inviting and cozy.
I layer my jute rug. Over it is a Persian carpet. This is in my cabin that I rent out--a dog friendly cabin--and the protection from Persian rug means that I've not had the issue of dogs messing it up!
Oh my gosh, I was just looking at jute rugs so I am so grateful for your review. We have 2 dogs and a cat so now I will be taking rugs off of my wishlist. Congratulations on the article feature - well deserved! Also, you look fire today. 🔥🔥🔥
Avoid jute at all costs! They look amazing in editorials, and work fine for low traffic areas, but wear terribly like Arvin said, and I've found them to trap dirt and dust far more than other materials
Dear, doggie or cat pee ruins hardwood floors, just get washable rugs I'm disabled and believe me very nose sensitive... That Smell Would Have me in the ER Quickly... I use Tide Pods x4 in 1 Ultra-Oxi For that Exact Reason....& Wash my Rugs with a shampooer for dogs with The Green Clean added in to get rid of All things spilled or smells once every six months in Wall to Wall Carpets as this Little Tiny Male unneuerted Dogs are the worst at peeing !!!! Washable Rugs are the best on top to Protect the floors, the valuables, and one's Sanity
Actually I love jute rugs and I've always had one in my home in some space. Right now I have one in my dining room and I have no problems. We are empty-nesters and have no pets, but on Sundays, my daughter and her family with three teenagers and a small dog come over, and it's fine. It might be because there is just about 2 ft around the table and chairs, so it's not getting full on traffic. I just really love the look.
The gorgeous copper orange color in your Studio McGee pics is not an accident. The lounger under you is exactly the thing. I can hear it, colors are coming.
I am 6,2 and I love me a bar height table for both dining and office work. You can work standing and also getting up from the chair is so much easier for me!
Lol I’m totally on the lookout for a burnt sienna accent - throw and maybe a texture / pattern pillow with a little too 🤣 that family of orange is seriously my happy color!
OMG!!! STUDIO MC GHEE AWESOME @! You look timeless , grand, stylish, and I WANT that coffee table book with you on it!!! So deserving, so luxe, so impressive. You go!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
🙋🏾♀️bar height table, here! Works for us because we’re tall (6ft and 6’3), lol. Congratulations on the Studio McGee feature … well deserved!! Love the channel (and the dancing).
When I lived in Italy 12 years ago, I got a beautiful Persian rug from Iranian Loom that is thick and absolutely amazing, and believe me.. it looks new, just like if I purchased it recently. Exactly the same color, texture, etc
I have a Persian rug that I purchased on eBay knowing it was previously used (and some areas show a bit of wear / colour discolouration (from the sun). I would love to replace the rug because I now gravitate to earthy palette but I am having a hard time finding a reasonable replacement because I have two dogs (although they are perfectly house broken [rare] accidents do happen when diarrhea strikes etc.). Plus the old Persian rug is so luxuriously thick ..... And every time I vacuum with my Dyson it still looks great. So I continue to be undecided (and I keep looking).
We have 3 dogs and have def had to learn the hard way what kind of furniture and decor we can have. Honestly anything upholstered that can’t be cleaned easily is a no go. We also have our everyday blankets and pillows and our “fancy” blankets and pillows we only bring out for guests. Great video. Also, I love what you’ve been doing with your haircut lately. Looks really good.
HI,Happy to see .You all give very good.advice.Your journey and process have Inspired many people.I would like to know where you purchase the Burl Pedestal table..I love it please let me know.
So Very Excited for your Studio McGee feature. I am generally not a Target shopper but you are piquing my interest. Congratulations on all of your success (and your engagement)! Blessing to you both.
I have a bar height kitchen table because my husband and over 6 feet tall and has knee issues. It works so well for our house and it doesn't look tacky because it is solid wood.
But…but…you said the billy book shelves were fabulous. I really love them. I bought them years and years ago and they just never went out of style. Then we moved and the new owners added them in their offer to buy our house. I haven’t replaced them yet…..??? Love your channel. Cheers, Linda
I have a bar height table that I bought from borders books when they went out of business. It meant a lot to me because it was the table i frequently studied at when i was in medical school. I am slmost 6'0" tall and my husband is almost 6'4". So it works for us. And yes, hubby refinished it. It was phr prary dining table for years. But we moved it to the game room in our finished basement when we moved into our new home and I had to get a table that seats 8 and fits the dining area. But I will never get rid of my bar height table. And it is perfect for the game room, so we still get to love it.
Congratulations Arvin. Well deserved. Glad to have you back. Nobody asked but I love the outfit. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and expertise with me.
Congratulations Arvin on all your success you are so stylish and I love your personality! I went to college for interior design, and I consider myself a designer. You are such a breath of fresh air I must say I found you on Karen brit chicks video and I subscribed
I have a bar height table because i have a small kitchen and no dining area. A normal height dining table would just look out of place, but a taller, rectangular table at counter height makes it kind of look like a kitchen island. It’s also easier for people to gather around than a regular dining table!
Congrats to you Arvin! I am so happy you’re getting the recognition you deserve. You are a one of a kind creator and we’re so lucky to have you grace our screens! Xo
My very good long-time friend whom I absolutely love, has a bistro height dining set that seat 4. It's really nice, but so uncomfortable. A bit of anxiety when you can't feel the floor under your feet while having a meal. I felt too close to the ceiling and scared I would fall off my chair. She bought it because it took up less space than her previous 6 seat rectangle table. Yikes. Love you, Arvin ... keep the videos coming!
I have a bar hight table and I think it works in my space. I do not have a dining room, I just have a small spot for a table in the kitchen. I tried a shorter table, but it was too much in the corner of my space. It made it look heavy, if you know what I mean. The tall table made the space look more open and airy. I don’t think it would work as well in traditional dining space, but it works in a small kitchen.
I definitely feel like wood tones will always be a personal preference. I have always gravitated towards cool tones, white and bright colors peppered in. Warm wood tones I feel work well with beiges/earthy tones and such which just won’t ever be my vibe but I understand why people enjoy it.
The bar chair in my Grandpa's home, that sits at his high counters is THE chair everyone wants to sit on, when he has people over. He has a beautiful reclining armchair he built himself that gets about equal use. You walk upstairs to an open living space, and his partially partitioned kitchen. The high chair sitting there, gives his other seating a fun height contrast, and it's just in the right place to consider taking a load off.
Congratulations on your feature, it’s been wonderful to see your style evolution. You’re all grown up now but somehow still down to earth. Wishing you the best this year!
Oh yes you are so right about those sofas ..my work thinks those things are the cats meow and buys them for all their locations and they NEVER last!!! So happy for you !! The cover looks wonderful!! Your tips today on this video were just great...
That was super interresting, I just bought a new condo and Im looking for new decor and furniture, I have a hard time choosing the light fixtures that will age well in the dinning room, do you have any recommandations ? Thankksss🙂
Thank you for the info on the jute rugs. I live the look but I also love my rugs to be cleanable. Our pets are very potty trained but it doesn’t always stop the occasional puke.
I have a bar height table and i love it BUT i only went for it because my space is small and location options for a dining space is incredibly limited - my space just barely allowed for my 69cm diameter round table lol. I also wanted a difference in height and vantage point and even when eating out i always prefer sitting at a bar table or bar counter if available. If the apartment had enough room for a dedicated dining table setup then I wouldn’t have even thought about a bar table. But, as it is, it works great for me 😊
Hey , thanks for another awesome video! Your office and bedroom look amazing. You are spot on about dogs and rugs!!!! Not a ikea fan. Weird place to shop. Got to go one way!!!! Cheap. Thanks again, Kathleen
So proud to see you’re thriving and succeeding in an industry where there are so many people in it! So inspirational. Any tips on where you normally find your florals like the one in the vase behind you or on your console table in your bedroom?
I'm six foot tall and I'm tired of hitting my knees on the bottom of standard height tables. I do have a bar height table but it's mostly used for extra workspace for the kitchen where I don't have to bend down to the countertop
I do agree with most of these. I've made some of these purchases and highly regretted it, because they absolutely did not last more than a year still looking in a presentable condition. And some of them I spent good money on.
Can we get some tips for how to decorate coffee tables? I have a GORGEOUS marble coffee table from CB2, and I cannot figure out what to put on it to continue the coziness of my space.
Ikea is Swedish for, "destined for landfill". Saying that, some of their pieces are practical, albeit underwealming. Am really enjoying your channel. Thanks!
Such a good reminder that design is a process! We can’t always have everything on point at all times. We all have to go through trial and error. I was going absolutely nuts when I would buy something and it didn’t work out, but it is what it is!
And that its totally OK to make mistakes and not like something as time goes on!!!
So true,thanks for the reminder.
Definitely but we need to be conscious of money badly spent, which can put a dent on your financial well being, and the stuff that is going to end up at a landfill if it cannot be repurposed or donated.

I love watching your videos!!! You just make me happy
Thank you also for continuing to bring great content to us. Really appreciate you sharing your honest experiences on trend and home decor. All the best!
That's what I'm here for :)
I sincerely ADORE how you educate us plebs on your art. 🙏

Yes, I agree! I hate them. Even in a bar, it's uncomfortable. Give me a booth!
I imagine that tall tables don't work if you have a family member or frequent visitor who uses a wheelchair.
Hahah miss you too!!!! Sometimes we all need a little time off. And so happy you loved the video.
Estaba pensando igual 😂😂😂😂
Congrats Arvin!! Growing and it’s showing. All your hard work is paying off 💪🏼❤️
Thank you
I just bought an eyelash woven shag rug from Target (Project 62) and love it. No shedding and luxurious feeling. Would highly recommend it.
Kallax is perfect for areas you don't care about being "designy" though. I love them for my craft room, and our gaming room. Face it, a room full of board games, video games, D&D minis, and Marvel movie posters is never going to look chic, and it doesn't have to.

TOTALLY it is preference :D
I agree I love Grey wood more then regular wood. I can’t even explain it when I see regular wood furniture I automatically think of my grandmas house.
I have a bar height table, and this lines up with thoughts I've had for the last year. I'm over it. Thanks for the validation!
Bravo Arvin! The features of you is only the beginning. From the day you started your channel, watching the rug show, I knew you’d go far. I’m glad you got to unplug and enjoy your birthday. It’s great seeing how much you’ve grown and I have no doubt you’ll continue to grow. Xx
I absolutely agree that grey wood things definitely look cold and sad. I love your taste in home decor and you give great advice!
I agree on all accounts and i do have a burnt Orange pillow and a rusty orange sheet in my bedroom 😅 but i love them! Can i just be desert modern instead of college boho dorm room 😂

Great points. There is a way to do Sienna though that is definitely not collage dorm.
Which rug is good for a family with 2 kids and 1 golden doodle !?
Congratulations on the Studio McGee feature!! I bought a studio McGee bench because of you. You deserve everything you've earned and more!

ARVIE thanks so much for sharing. Have to say my kids are now doing what they call the Arvi Dance"😂.
Good fun ...good spirit!
HI, I recommend the Safavieh shag rugs, specifically the Milan for a comfortable walking space (they don't shed!)
Great video! Happy to see you back! Congrats on the Studio McGee layout🤗
Congrats on the feature Arvin! You totally deserve it and there is so much more to come for you!! 🥰
Congratulations love love love watching you ❤ happy happy belated birthday 🎂
What an honor and accomplishment to be featured in Studio McGee. You deserve it. Congratulations. You must feel so proud. I bet Andrew is proud too.

Congratulations on your Studio McGee feature. You deserve having your work acknowledged. You rock Arvin.
Yes! On the orange linens! It’s too jarring for my eyes. How exciting being featured, 🥰
Best rugs I have ever owned were wool kilim. Love the colors, pattern and texture. They wear like iron, plus both sides can be used.
Thank you Alvin! As always you delver. Very educational. Love you!

Wow. Studio Mcgee? Awesome Arvin!
You are such a breath of fresh air I must say I found you on Karen brit chicks video and I subscribed
ahhhh yay!!!! LOVE KAREN
I have a bar height table because i have a small kitchen and no dining area. A normal height dining table would just look out of place, but a taller, rectangular table at counter height makes it kind of look like a kitchen island. It’s also easier for people to gather around than a regular dining table!
Super Awesome! Congratulations On The Feature!!!
Whenever I am having a bad day babe, you brighten me up and make me giggle. Thank you so much, you are the best! 😘😀
Congrats to you Arvin! I am so happy you’re getting the recognition you deserve. You are a one of a kind creator and we’re so lucky to have you grace our screens! Xo
💃💃 Bring it in. 💃 💃 Back it up. 💃 You're looking fabulous today. 🎉🎉Congratulations on the Studio McGee feature. 🎉🎉
That's a great idea!
Always a pleasure catching up with your videos.
The table in your bedroom against the wall in the Studio McGee piece on you, where did you get that? Love it.
Congratulations! I am so proud of you. You really are tenacious. You will go far.
I definitely feel like wood tones will always be a personal preference. I have always gravitated towards cool tones, white and bright colors peppered in. Warm wood tones I feel work well with beiges/earthy tones and such which just won’t ever be my vibe but I understand why people enjoy it.
Yasssss!! En pointe with every single point! Your style is next level this year, refined, mature and appropriate. Keep it up darling!!
I just love to watch your videos you sure no how to decorate and have so much info thank you 🤔
Arvin you are totally allowed to dislike Ikea. Nothing wrong with admitting it isn't your style. 💖
I just got myself a sienna bed blanket for christmas haha, but I love it so much
That was super interresting, I just bought a new condo and Im looking for new decor and furniture, I have a hard time choosing the light fixtures that will age well in the dinning room, do you have any recommandations ?
Thankksss🙂
Started watching your videos and I just can’t stop. You give such great advice! Could you please share where you got your canvas art from?
Happy birthday Arvin..........lot of good vibes....having so much watching your video ....bring me joy all the time....xoxo
Your Bedroom is just so beautiful and cozy and comfortable 👍
Thanks for the tip on the blankets
Thank you for spilling the beans about bar height tables. It never felt right in my small space.
The pictured H&M blankets shed. We have it in mustard yellow. Otherwise it’s warm and beautiful and looks amazing even after weeks.
Thank you for the info on the jute rugs. I live the look but I also love my rugs to be cleanable. Our pets are very potty trained but it doesn’t always stop the occasional puke.
Bonjour! We dont have any of these stores here in France! We need target! Love watching your videos. Inspiration all day long! Bisou from France 😊
Burnt orange..Hahahah! I just got the casaluna pinkish/orange linen duvet. I love it in my room but I feel ya Arvin.
But, as it is, it works great for me 😊
Congratulations on the Studio Mghee feature. My son's birthday is also 1/20!
You're a God send - I always learn so much from you videos 😊
I stumbled across you channel and I immediately subscribed! Loveeeeee your channel and style!
I'm six foot tall and I'm tired of hitting my knees on the bottom of standard height tables. I do have a bar height table but it's mostly used for extra workspace for the kitchen where I don't have to bend down to the countertop
I hear you on the faux trees however... I’ve bought some amazing ones from Restoration Hardware. More expensive but worth it
That is really amazing! Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks!
