- Do you want a fancy-looking place that will wow people? Do you crave home that is inviting and unforgettable? If you watch this video you can have both! I share with you my Cape Cod home and the 5 pillars I count on in creating a beautiful home of harmony and love.
Hal and I hit the thrift stores and I bought a new sofa for my living room. The new sofa is more fitting to the era and style of my home. I have not styled it yet nor my living room but I wanted to make sure you got an idea about balance and light from my purchase.
I hope everybody has a wonderful Easter Weekend!
Please stay safe
Please know how much you mean to me. I so look forward to seeing you every week and reading your words of wisdom. You make my life so bright.
Love you to the moon and back and I always will,

Hello and Happy new week! You just summed up my friend Hal with one quote!!!
Makes me sad when people use disposables daily 🙁
I recycle, but after becoming disabled after an auto accident I don’t have the luxury of using dishes daily… please understand we all are doing the very best we can given our health circumstances… sending positive energy to you on our journey 🙏
@@user-ic6sh5rc8q 💖💖💖Hugs to you Silke 💖💖💖 I'm sorry for your misfortune.
Get a dicent dishwasher and use porcelain cuttlery! That is so much nicer and better for the Environment....even better than washing dishes by hand.
I am a retired designer and I think your home should be what you love and enjoy. I don’t follow rules. I love a unique home that does not look like a cookie cutter. I love your home and your new sofa is beautiful. Your home looks so inviting and says welcome. Have a blessed Easter.
Couldn't agree more. I live in a Victorian house in England. Ive filled it with things I love, no real theme, but its homely and the kettle is always on 😊 x

There was a time a few years back when I didn't think life could get any lower for me. I got a small apt and started going to goodwill resale shops to buy things for my place. It absolutely changed my life. Not because I was buying stuff.but I was finally learning who I was. What I liked.I was finding me and the joy started returning to my soul. I'm still single and in an apt but I love it. And I still shop here and there for the joy.
Thank you so much, your comment helped me.
There is much to love about apartment living! And getting great deals on things that bring you joy is the stuff life is made of. Enjoy, enjoy-it’s yours and you can make it look & feel any way you want! And then you can change it if you ever tire of it or decide it no longer brings you joy. Have FUN!
I'm on a small apartment I don't know where to start...feel miserable...went from a large home to this....trying not to be ungrateful but don't know how to make it mine
Thanks for having Hal visit in your video. His humor is just so fun. He always makes me laugh. You’re so lucky to have him in your life.😄
I enjoy Hal. You both have fun together, and I think your viewers agree.
Me, too! He cracks me up EVERY TIME...Mr. "dainty mouth."(lol)
I love seeing Hal! He is so funny. Great friend to have. Your home is beautiful .
....more paper plates.....😂
I create my home to be surrounded by things I love. At 68, I recently bought a 100 year old home and I realize that, without actually intending, my furnishings tell the story of who I am. This includes the first two pieces of furniture I bought at a thrift store in the mid 70's, books that have influenced me, crochet-trimmed pillowcases my maternal grandmother made, and embroidered dish towels made by my paternal grandmother. A vase from my children on my 50th birthday, special photos of them that make me happy and handmade gifts from their childhoods. The Smith Corona typewriter my parents gave my when I graduated from high school sits atop the desk they gave me in 1970 ( I still use both). My sun porch displays paintings and items from my years in New Mexico and my kitchen hutch holds dozens of jars of herbs and spices , as I am an herbalist. The poems I have written over the years are bound in a leather binder and set on an antique table with my other handmade poetry books and my special journals. None of this is cluttered or overdone looking because I have learned how to find the "rightplace" for each item and because I have kept only those things that are truly meaningful to me. And, I don't call it "decorating". To me, it's the art of creating a home.
Sounds enchanting!
I am 73 and for the first time I have a home. The others were just houses. I tell people to think about the happiest place they ever were and duplicate it. For me it was Siesta Key beach. I started going there after my son was killed. The beach and the sound of the ocean heals my soul. The inside of my home has everything but the sand lol. My back yard is a tropical paradise!
So happy you have found your little piece of Paradise. Love all the way from Australia xx.
I am so sorry for the loss of your son. What strength that took to allow your heart to heal from that. Wonderful that you found your way. Your home sounds very healing and uplifting. Good for you!
🙏
Although we’ve never met, I feel a connection, as I lost my son also… I live in Florida; the coast gives me peace, my home decorated in beiges (sand) w blue; bowls of shells. Like you I find comfort; walking the shoreline…Sending love, compassion and peace! Silk
Have you ever been flooded? It looks so beautiful there😊🌴🐚🌊
I decorate for myself because i'm the one who's looking at it 24/7 most of the time.
Me too!
I think we should decorate for ourselves! If someone else likes it, so much the better. If not, too bad!
I’m not decorating my home for them!
We’ve had many people in our home for open houses for our business. We’ve always gotten so many compliments on my decorating. I think it’s because of things we’ve collected in our travels and found objects and the way I put them together.
👍
From the year I was born until I was 11, I moved homes and places almost every year. But my beautiful mother made sure she would create a home that I was happy in it, principalmente my bedroom. So, I never felt lost and helped me massively to adapt quickly to my new school and neighbourhood. I always had my safe, comfortable home waiting for me. My home saves me from suffering. Thanks, mom. ❤
That is so sweet
Home is not a place, it’s a feeling 🏡 ~ We can all feel the love you’ve put into every corner of your darling “home” Susan❣️🐾
I'm currently doing the get rid of it decorating. Love stuff and things, but I'm over all the dusting, wiping, polishing. The back of my Juke is full and I've started putting stuff in the back seat. I don't need 7 or 8 throws or 16 (yes 16!) purses.
At 65 life is to short to waste time cleaning extra stuff.
Really enjoy your videos!

Just keep what you love and use. Get rid of the extras that are making you feel weighed down.

Hello from Seattle! I am 68 and began watching her last year when I retired. I am a grandmother of 2 young men.

My close cousin lives with her husband in Australia but is presently visiting her mom and dad in Canada. We are all connected. I so enjoy watching Susan’s videos each week. Hope your day goes well in Australia.

Hello from beautiful Whidbey Island, here in WA state! It's Saturday night and a great way to wind down from the days activities!💜
Lovely episode. Shout out to Hal! He keeps everything real, clear without hesitation. I can’t believe he shops with you. Do you bribe him with lunch?
I love the way he pays attention to what Susan is saying. While sofa shopping he remembered her previous comments on what she did and didn't want in a new sofa. No wonder he is the perfect person to go shopping with 😊.
Hi Susan In the early 70s my mother picked out a post modern barrel chair for the living room. She selected a warm yellow brocade for the fabric. The trim along the top of the chair was a dark wood, as were the legs of the chair. It was a favorite chair for friends and family to sit in during all the parties she and my dad hosted over the years. The chair began to show wear and tear: stains from spilled drinks and knicks in the wood. I kept that chair when it was time to clear out my parents’ house for sale and it lived covered up in my garage for 15 years. Two years ago I had the chair reupholstered with new fabric matching the original yellow brocade the best I could. I told the upholstery company to keep the knicks in the wood though- that was part of the history and memories. Love to you and Desi❤
Bravo🎉sounds beautiful and a part of you!
I decorate for Me,because i have to look at it every day 😊
Yeessss I totally agree!! 😍😁
@@gaildela5710 Thank you so much
Your house is lovely and it reflects who you are. I remember years ago l would always consult my husband before l changed the decor. Once l asked him how he felt if l painted our bedroom pink and did the focus wall in a paper that was silver with pink butterflies. I wanted to paint the dark brown dressers white. He was fine with all of it. He said, "I'm asleep most of the time in here. Do you want me to the the papering?" "Yes, please." I replied.
Wow! What a great husband!
I am 71 years old, I’ve traveled the world extensively since age 19.
My souvenirs are what I decorate with in my house. I don’t have a theme or style.
They make for great conservation while I share a trip experience.
I also use furniture and other items from my parents and grandparents.
Me too!
Nothing matches but the combination of family heirlooms from my maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother and the unique finds from my travels will always bring good memories of both people and places from my past.
I will never part with these things!
The other things I have are pieces from the trash I’ve redone, either upholstery cleaned, refinished or painted. I love them!
Absolutely items that are uniquely YOU
Sounds wonderful!@@pamsmith7369
The best kind of home, a well traveled home.
Starting over after 30 years of marriage, I got rid of everything that remained Me of Him. I don't know how I'm going to afford to decorate, I am thinking I need to move to a new house without the memories. I'm lost right now. Time to heal then I'll see how I feel.
Love you Susan and Dezi ❤ ❤ Happy Easter!
I don’t have money. My home is stark. But it’s clean. I am not a decorator. But….this home is mine and it’s peace. I’m not out to impress anyone.
Good for you. I admire that and wish I could be confident enough to do the same.
As a retired Interior Designer (those of us in the trade don't call ourselves Decorators) I really enjoyed your content with this episode. When I was in college it was obvious which of my fellow students had a natural knack for design as their projects were always amazing vs. those who struggled because it didn't come easily for them. I believe you would've sailed through all those design classes and been at or at least near the top. You truly do possess a natural ability and understanding of the elements and principles of design.
I agree with your comment! Susan has a natural "eye" and talent for design. She has a BEAUTIFUL voice, too. She's just an all around creative person with multiple talents...music, interior design, gardening, etc. I just love her!
I was struck by the question you posed at the beginning of your video. What direction do I want to take this? As I have watched you these past two years I connect with you because of how much your story reflects my own. Starting out at 73 after way too many years in a toxic marriage. I spent the past week with my 2 teenage granddaughters and I so much want to see them spared of the heartache I have experienced due to the expectations placed on our generation of women coupled with the powerlessness we felt. So I would say continue to share those stories, like the one about the nasty landlord or the guy who wanted you to change your outfit. Let’s teach todays girls they are beautiful, and strong, and valued because of who they are. And they have the right to be treated well. And let’s teach our young boys how to be kind and respectful. I bet that is what you want for your grandkids. Then maybe our disappointments can be turned into something wonderful.
Great comment...and I have a similar background.
I'm 73. I remained single by choice and have always been independent. Even as a young person, I could not relate to the desperate need to "have a man."
I sometimes don't watch your videos until they have been posted for a few days. The reason is, I want to be alone and in a quiet place with no distractions so I can enjoy them to their fullest potential :) I get so much out of your words and your videos. You feel like a true friend to me, I'm only sorry I can't reciprocate. Thank you so much for your content. By the way, I feel the same way about antiques. I have 2 chairs that my late mother in law gave to me that originally belonged to HER mother in law. They were purchased in the 1930's by my husband's grandmother when furnishing her first home.
I do the same thing!😊❤
Happy Easter, Susan and Desi. I imagine that anyone who enter your home are wrapped in its warmth and your charm. A safe place to land.
Most of my home will never look like my vision of a perfectly decorated house ( 7 grands and messy retired husband). But I have a beautiful sunroom that's all mine to decorate as I please. I love my home. Lots of laughter and love within it's walls.
Being an interior designer for over forty years in helping people create a home that reflects who they are and what brings them joy and contentment has been my life’s passion. Each and every person is unique and helping people discover their inner creative spirit brings me joy. Each and every home sings out who the people who live inside, all about them and their life. For me, the best compliment I ever got from a friend in regards to spending time in my home was that they were so comfortable in being there that they could stay forever. That in itself, was the best gift to know my home was so welcoming in such a way because it reflected me and who I am. Each and every home is about the folks who live in them. It isn’t about current styles or fads. It is about are a life style, your life “style”.
Your words are music ot my ears...like a poem of passion and dedication for making a beautiful home for you and the people you love!
@@LittlePoet Thank you Susan! Your words mean a lot and are affirmation of what I believe in.
It’s hard for me to even say the word ‘home’. Been waiting for home for a long time. I hold onto boxes waiting for the next move. Been divorced a long time, need to make a home for myself. Thank you for letting all of us share. Good to see Hal and Desi. Happy Easter to all.
Me too! You'll make it❤
Start with the area rug and decorate around that! Use painters tape to get measurements right of the rug, and tape it to the floor. It'll save you grief in having to roll up that big heavy rug again. Don't follow trends, go with what you love. Happy Resurrection Sunday, it is about the great sacrifice of the ONE who paid the ultimate price! Love to you and Desi
We should do Passover. Nothing about Easter in the Bible. Research the topic. It's never too late to get it right with God. He is coming soon.
I never got compliments on the way my home looked until I started decorating with only myself in mind. Now, people comment and say how nice it is and how cozy it looks. I should have done that a long time ago.
I decorate for myself because it makes me happy. I’m 70 years old and I’ve traveled extensively so I use items I’ve collected in my journeys. I love art and create mosaics not tile but paper and I use some in my decor. I feel when people walk into my home they immediately know it’s my home, it reflects who I am. Your home is beautifully decorated, love your thrifted items and how you display them. I love thrifting decor too. I hope you had a wonderful Easter😊❤️
Did I understand you correctly at the beginning of this video… That you are feeling the need for a brief break to clear your head and determine in which direction you would most like to take your channel? I love watching your videos each Saturday night! You do such a beautiful job and you inspire and comfort me! But I can go an extra week so you can rest and think. Please do take the extra time Susan. You will be missed! But I am quite confident we will all reap the benefits!
I feel the same way we always need a reset or a jumpstart to our lives. Susan, you do you!❤
I agree with the ladies here. I am glad you acknowledged her words - very important to honor that feeling Susan. We support you in your needs for yourself.
I do not know where to start! I love so much about your story, all of it! I love little Desi so much and his rags to riches story. He just could not have a better mama. You are he's heaven! I love Hal! He is a wonderful man and true friend. Good grief girl, he goes "shopping" with you and reminds you of all the hidden costs. He is a treasure of a friend, at the very least. Susan, your home is beautiful. It is beyond a tasteful, quirky, personal, vintage and a "balanced" beauty. It is YOU and it translates a journey and a poem of overcoming and joy. GOD bless you Susan and I can not wait to see where your story goes, as I wait upon my own dreams and breakthrough!
Growing up, our living room and dining room were to be looked at and not used daily. But I will say my Mother picked out special furniture for each spot and I thought it was beautiful. I think it actually helped shape who I became. It was part victorian and part duncan phyfe from the 50's. My friends mostly had basic living room furniture which they used every day. Ours was only used when company came over but I loved it. Even when I started dating, we would sit in the living room on that furniture. It was absolutely beautiful at Christmas too. I've had a little of every style in my life and some I've liked very much but in my heart, her furniture taste out did mine every time. She never lived to see my furniture style. It makes me sad. Back then, living rooms were formal rooms as were dining rooms. Dens were for watching tv and lounging in. No matter what style anything ever was, the happiest I ever was, was when I was young and my parents were living, People make the home. Furniture just makes a house. Nothing you do will ever create a home like the people who live there. You just can't buy it.
Happy Easter ! The chesterfield looks great . I laughed out loud .........when HAL said if he had a get together he would just get MORE paper plates ! ......................HA !
I love your new sofa. You home is beautiful and welcoming. ❤

Yes!!!
Light and bright and airy, no more large dark wood pieces, no more each room a different color and theme. Now I only use and display what I love and those items that give me pleasure. Your home is beautiful, Susan, and so are you and Desi.
I really enjoyed this episode. I do love to get ideas and suggestions for decorating or updating my home, but I’ve never been one to be “influenced” by theme decorators. We’ve always lived in a country/wooded setting and my husband was a wildlife sportsman. So I’ve got everything from moose and deer mounts to collector series prints and decoys… amidst very comfortable and practical furniture to withstand kids (and now grandkids) and dogs throughout the years. My husband passed away in October of ‘21, but I discovered that the things he loved are the things I love so I’ve kept the decor much the same, while slowly incorporating some stuff of my own. Anyway, all that to say….. I am always thinking to myself “I love my home… I love the way my home is decorated….I am so thankful for my home.” And because my identity is found in Jesus, I never feel that I have to impress anyone. My goal is for myself and others to feel comfortable and content. We shop the same stores and I love seeing the treasures you find! Oh…. Your new couch is fabulous! Have a wonderful week!
I decorate for myself and what pleases me. An eclectic mix that is in harmony. Most of my decor came from thrift shops. I am very careful to not have clutter or too much going on because I downsized into a one room studio and love it. I rarely have anyone over but recently hosted a dinner for six of us and it worked out great with comfortable seating for everyone. I brought out my Noritake fine china and International silverplate. I see so many great pieces of wood furniture at thrift shops that I could furnish an entire lodge if I had one! Happy Easter Susan. From one 69 year old Susan to another. After all, Susan was the most popular girls name back in the day. I wonder why?
Oh my gosh do I agree with you about having something special in your home. I have some of my ( now deceased)mother in laws needle work framed around my house. When my 6 year old granddaughter comes for a visit I say " Nonna made that", and she connects to someone she's never met but who surely would have loved to meet her! I want my house to be able to help people know that its mine just by how I decorate it. A peaceful place thats mine alone
Alwaya love seeing Hal..........😀
Good to see Hal visiting!!!
Susan ! You are a psychic. I am currently in a moving process and just realized that I should decorate for me and not for the few visitors I have. Thank you and happy Easter to you and Desi my dog at heart ❤
Susan, I’ve been watching you from Australia. I married at almost 19. My husband was just graduating from the Police Force. First 5 years we lived in a small 2 room bungalow behind my parents house. I had our 2 children there. No laundry, outdoor toilet, no bathroom, no disposable nappies, no car, but those rooms were “home”. For me, it’s always been about WHO is there, not how expensive it looks. After many years of working I had some beautiful Australian Blackwood furniture. My coffee table had not a mark on it BUT, when my first grandson (1 of 3) came and started to play with his little toy cars, etc. for some reason, scratches didn’t matter. Every time I dusted that table those scratches filled me with the love I had for that precious gift. That little boy is now 19 and 6’2” and I couldn’t love him and his brothers more. I have now been married 53 years.and have known having hardly anything to a lovely home with furniture I loved but you see, I’ve come to realise all of that is, at the end of the day, just “stuff”. Things can be replaced but not those you love. Now I’m in a much smaller space and my decor is what feels loved, warm, welcoming to family and friends. It’s what I hope reflects ME. I hate the thought of anyone feeling they can’t relax in my home. So you see Susan? I’ve been at both ends of the spectrum. From virtually nothing to a large, beautifully furnished home and now to a manageable space where I can still have my precious boys stay over in comfort and things that hold memories full of love. No set style, just things we love.
You’ve come so far in your healing journey. I can see and hear that. I know personally the road to finding peace after loss and grief. Hope you and Desi enjoyed Easter 🐣
I always wanted my home to feel warm and welcoming. A whole picture.
My decorating style has always been “eclectic!” You will have zero doubt who lives here, what is most important to me, and even glimpses of my personality. Just little touches here and there, it would make most people go, what in the world, but I don’t think it is weird that I have the slinky that I had when I was a child sitting on one of my living room side tables. Or the magic 8 ball that was my grandmother’s and is GLASS. None of that plastic stuff! Pictures all over the place, my daughter has said it resembles a shrine to her and is now stressed that her pictures have been replaced with my granddaughters. 😂 Little touches of me. Thanks Susan! Happy Easter! 🐰 T ✌🏻
Hi Susan! Happy Easter! Thank you for such an informative video. Everything I have in my house has been thrifted or given to me and I LOVE it! I’m in the process of decorating my back deck and found the PEFECT patio set for 25 bucks just yesterday! I was so excited! It needs a little paint and new cushions but that is the FUN PART! The thrill of the hunt! Hal is the sweetest friend to you and he’s hilarious to me! You are blessed! Have a wonderful week and enjoy that beautiful new couch! It’s lovely! ❤️🌷🌸❤️
Happy Easter Susan , Hal and Desi ! I laughed out loud when Hal said he just uses more paper plates for a dinner party ! I decorate for myself . I love jigsaw puzzles and books and I'm sure a lot people don't love it but I do . 🐣🐣🧓
Sounds wonderful❤
thanks I always have stacks of books and puzzles and usually a puzzle started on the table.
First of all Susan I want to let you know that I enjoy your TH-cam video every Saturday night can relate to the conversation tonight I live in Florida I’m 77 years old I’m a widow I have a son that lives up north he and his wife came to visit with her father and her sister last week His comment to me was this looks like a museum in here. The decorations are just incredible. He made me feel really good but I was also kind of embarrassed I decorate for me. I am not a person that likes to show off at all but they enjoyed themselves went golfing And we had a great time. I think it’s great that you decorate for yourself. It’s a big house.4 bedrooms, three bathrooms and an inground pool with all screened in they enjoyed the pool and I’m glad that someone got to enjoy this house as well as I do hope you and your family have a good holiday. Take care.
Happy Resurrection Sunday, Susan. I enjoy your channel so much!
I forgot to mention that I live in an 1888 home so I try to find stuff from that time. Michigan west coast.
I love the West Coast of Michigan it is so beautiful we use to go camping at Pentwater we loved to watch the sunset on the lake
Very pretty area Pentwater is!
When I see that clip with houses and the view down your street I am reminded how pleasing and pretty old towns have always been - the places without subdivisions where houses that all look the same have been jammed together on small lots on streets that lack trees ... Rural America, especially places having four seasons, is the place to be, whether you are raising children or enjoying retirement. Your house is beautiful, Susan, and your garden too ... and it's what YOU want it to be.
My husband and I sell our nature photography at art shows. We have met some wonderful artisans. I have purchased many pieces over the years that I absolutely love. It gives my home a unique, eclectic feel yet homey and cozy, too. It works for me!
Have a wonderful Easter with your family!
You are a sweet lady and I appreciate your personal style. A very comfortable, welcoming, and pretty home is what I see.❤
Desi is the best piece of decor you'll ever have or need! ❤❤
Hi Susan:). I had my house exactly how I loved it before it was flooded 2 years ago. I used to think of it as a country, whimsical gift shop and the walls were covered in hand stitched cross stitch pictures that I had custom matted and framed. I had an old humpback trunk that was my great grandmother’s filled with beautiful quilts and there was more…now I live so totally different. At 72 I am just happy to have a new bed, restored bathroom and kitchen the most I could afford. It’s not ever going to be the same…but I’m still alive and thank God everyday for what I do have😊🙏♥️. I love your home👍😊♥️🙏
The sofa looks lovely Susan….great addition to your home. Yes your house is both beautiful and interesting….
I like an eclectic mix too ….my house on outskirts of London is 1930’s. Not in the realms of your neighbourhood Susan, but everything here of any size is sooo expensive. But it’s been my home for 42 years and although I think of moving and I’d like a new environment , I’m not sure it will ever happen. Lovely to see Hal and the gorgeous Desi. God bless you all. 🌸
Totally correct, Susan! The mood of one's home, regardless of style or cost, is what envelops you and your guests more than anything! The one thing that it took me way too many years to realize, is that one outstanding piece has much more impact than a bunch of small things.
I love to mix old & modern but mostly antique. It does make for unique comfortable feel & look. Your taste is wonderful Susan. 💞💞💞🫶🏻🦮🩵🏡
Susan and Desi❤ wishing you a very Happy 🐇 Easter 💗. Be well...
You can't spell home without “me”. 😊
you are right!!!
Have a Blessed 🐣 Easter! We all luv you & "The Dez" (I have been spelling it like Lucy's hubby- Desi. My bad.) Your channel means so much to me. I feel like a neighbor- except in the ether.😂 Luv to that dear, curmudgeon Hal, also.
Thank you for mentioning how boring the sameness of big box store decor is! I love to see the fun and warmth of individual style in the homes I visit. Love seeing Hal too!
I love my condo. I intentionally think about how I want it to look. I’ve learned that concept the hard way. Now, I don’t rush my decisions.
When I think about this subject I automatically recall the homes I visited in my childhood. The homes of my loved ones such as grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and my parents friends that I can recall, the decor stayed relatively the same. Their homes represented safety, comfort, stability where all of your needs or wants were met such as yards to play in and kitchen/dining room tables to sit around and enjoy meals together. They didn’t live in massive homes with expensive art on the walls and state of the art electronics. Most of their homes held objects that were passed down from family, used or thrifted items and gifted items. Each home of my childhood told the story of the family that occupied it and you always felt wanted there and “at home.” That is how I want my home to be remembered by my grandchildren, friends, and others. We fill our home with objects that are useful and decor that reflects us and our interests. I would never put something in my home that if one of the kids spilled something on it or dropped, they would feel bad in doing so. If it is a precious item then it goes up high and away, thus protected.
I commented last week that Im preparing my home here in Arizona to move back to Washington State to be close to my youngest daughter.....so ive decluttered and packed away my decor to get the house ready to put on the Market and it has lost my warmth. Im looking forward to bringing the warmth againonce I find a new home.....it is the magic to a beautiful home....and a bowl of apples❤
I am 53, and I am an interior decorator❤ and wellbeing coach. And my fylosphy is that our well-being starts at home. Our homes are our best therapeutic. It reflects our souls. So, Susan, you are 100% correct. ❤
Great sofa , your friend is so wonderful to help you . Happy Easter Susan and Desi 🐇🐇🐇🐇🎼🎼🎼🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hal's so funny . The.life.of the Party🎉🎉wheeeeee..😂❤
I love when you go thrifting!
Hal is so cute...hes a wonderful friend to you. I love my condo ; its exactly as I envisioned. My best compliment was that my home is comfortable and homey. I use my favorite color...turquoise and cream. Way too much space since my husband passed.
Thanks so much Susan, what a great video! So nice seeing Hal again, too! I have eclectic taste & decorate for myself only. Always enjoy when people feel comfortable in my home. That’s ultimately my goal, to foster some calm & comfort for my guests, and myself.
Thank you for making my life, and all our lives, better. Blessings 🥰😘🙏🏻💋💋
Hi Susan, your home is so cozy and inviting. I love a curated home. The new sofa is absolutely beautiful. I'm in California and it has been raining all weekend. Wishing you and your family and wonderful Easter. Tfs 😊
I am always decorating or thinking about decorating every day. So I think it’s the journey it’s what I enjoy making a space beautiful it’s my way of life. I love bringing home a new “old item” give it a new life ponder its history. I love organizing fitting new items on the wall on tables. I also create or sew or paint or make. sometimes until I know exactly where I want to put it I store it bring it out later when I find the perfect spot or arrangement of things. Decorating is like breathing I automatically do it every day. Love your channel it’s beautiful it’s unique just like you and your decorating!
Susan, today was great. If you need to take some time do it!
My daughter moved in with me about 14 years ago to help me with dad
We have similar and different ideas in decorating...we both compromise ❤ but I have to admit I just have to ignore some of her decorating just like I'm sure she ignores some of mine
The one thing we want is for the home to be welcoming ❤
You know what's funny about my decorating? I have never changed anything or moved anything in 17 years, since my last house. I put pictures, plants, books, lamps. down and that's where they stay forever. If something is out of place it drives me nuts and I notice right away if something was moved lol. too funny. I also love balance , everything is balanced. Earth tones catch my eye but I will splash a colorful pillow or throw down on my chair or sofa. Really like your home Susan , so cozy. Have a blessed Easter!
I found you this week and loved your decorating, then after watching more of your videos I realized we live within an hour from each other, we are the same age, and then you mentioned one of my TH-cam favs, Linda Vader, and I knew we were sisters from another mother! After watching more and more I knew I had to shut the tv off and get online so I could comment. Thank you so much for revitalizing my life as I move onto 70 this year. I need to hurry up and live! Thank you my new found friend! 💗
Wishing you and Desi a very very Happy Easter!! Bless you both!!🐰🐣💐💗💙

Susan I am stuck with buying furniture I,don’t like since my 2nd husband, I loved all the furniture and enjoyed decorating my home. Since then ( 35) years I have been trying to duplicate that feeling. I want to thank you for your encouragement to all of us I hate my living room. I have a decor that I really love but my husband won’t listen. Maybe one day, please have a Blessed Easter with your family✝️🌺🌸🐰🐣🐇
💐💐💐
Easter Blessings Susan to you, Desi, and your family...:)🙏🏿
Oh that sofa!! Perfect size, perfect color!! Really like it, and yes, it creates cohesion and makes the room so inviting. You mentioned about creating a feeling in ones home--reminded me of the saying: "People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care". Hope your Easter with the "grands" is the best time of the week!!
Oh I love that saying!!!!! Have a wonderful weekend!
Good day Susan! Good to see you all! Hal simply made my heart smile with his flute playing & warm ways! Desi baby boy you are the sweetest! Desi please gimmie your chocolate bunny woof - woof! 🐕🐣🐰Your home is beautiful!💐
Love the couch, it’s you and fits the house and always love a bit of Hal visiting ☀
I really do love Desi, my heart melts whenever I see him xo
I decorate with my grandchildren in mind.I want them to remember my home as fun.I share my home with my son. I keep in mind someone else calls this home. I have a picture of Bob Marley on my hall wall. Its huge. Reminds me of student days. Then a huge painting of Van Morrison and Paul Brady. Also huge framed portraits. Everything is our taste. Not just what is trendy.Nothing matches, yet nothing is out of place. Its our place.
Happy Easter! ❤. I decorate comfy cozy and have things around me that I love whether it be something from my mom or things I’ve picked up along the way. I also like framing artwork my grandkids have made and displaying them in my home. They beam when they come over. Love is the key to a warm and comfortable home!
Happy Easter! I am so glad you get to spoil your grandchildren. It is fun buying them. I think the couch is perfect. You can change your big room anyway you want! To me it it warm. welcome and what is that wonderful smell. Looked like cupcake batter.? Great Hal came back to give us his take on everything. Fun! You are doing great! Enjoy! Joyce
You deserve time off to change direction, if you need to and figure out what's next. I hope you never give up your TH-cam channel. I have no idea how you do this. It always feels like you are speaking directly to me and I am sure other women feel exactly the same. I so look forward to every video!
I love how Hal always has a great answer to any question.
I think that is Hal's super power!!!
Love your finds! Love it all! I’m glad you’re growing into your own style! Wish I could visit! Looks so inviting! Give thanks to the Lord for the great things he has done in your life, love and healing!
So happy to see Hal:):) when I became a widow 22 yrs ago, I had to ding joy. I found placemats to brighten my kitchen. Well, I ended up doing room by room! Contemporary. I needed brightness. It turned out beautiful. THEN< I SOLD THE HOUSE! Too many memories were still there. I still have a few things as I live with 2 family members. Slowly downsizing. Life is not things, it is the memories. Love & Blessings from Fla. Hugs to Sir Desi
Hi Susan i love your gray sofa, it feels good that Hal is doing great, beautiful friendship

That's what I always think it's warm and cozy😊

You have such a knack for decorating. Your home is lovely even when you were living in an apartment. It was so cozy and homey.. I wish I could decorate like you. My apartment is lovely and I really did a nice job but it doesn’t have that cozy homey feel.have a happy Easter
