How did I not find you until today? I went back and watched all of your videos. You are absolutely the most adorable, fashionable, informative, creative and “common sense” designer I’ve ever followed. Being a pianist and musician since the age of 4, and an avid crafter, I’ve still always had some issues with decorating my homes. I’ve divorced, moved, raised 2 sons myself,moved again, retired on disability,inherited furniture from my parents, moved again - so needless to say, my taste and the furnishings etc I have are of varied styles. Which is ok because I’m eclectic myself - as is my home. Lol. The accessories are how I pull it all together. Many of my accessories are things that belonged to my grandparents, my parents, great aunts and uncles. So I’m obviously a sentimental vintage style person with touches of art and musical items scattered around. Your tips, shopping trips and tastes are so inspiring. And your laugh! OMG, love it! I’m so glad I found your channel and wish you much success in your many future years making the world look stylish, chic, and like home. Big hugs ❤️

I stumbled upon your channel just last week. Like everyone else this past year has been a struggle. I'm a stay-at- home mom of four boys and to say my home has been in disarray is an understatement lol. Arvin, watching your videos has brought me out of a funk I didn't even realize I was in. You've made me motivated to "take" my home back and create a space I want to be in. I just want you to know that you are such an inspiration to me. Well if he lives in the same house, it's only fair that he should have a say in the decor, if I'm living with my boyfriend I want him to feel as comfortable as me in our house, that's my first rule of decoration, the rest it's secondary.

@@afrikan_criola1923 it’s actually a joke… I do the main decorating but I send him photos of everything and get his yes or no and I have a list of his interior designs likes and dislikes etc. I want our home to feel like our home. He has no real interior design skills but I find elevating and curating what he does like to be really fun and part of what makes it our home.

Just found your videos and really like them 😍 Just rearranged some rooms to make the colours look more cohesive. For example, blush pink, cream and sage/dark green for living room. Olive, butter yellow and orange for kitchen. Very happy with how it freshened everything up. Thanks for the tips!

Hi Arvin I love your videos they not only give me inspiration but make me laugh . I think there is such a huge choice of colour and deco styles out there that it can be daunting and sometimes you get caught up in wanting what's in fashion but your tips on keeping it simple clean reigning in the colour palette and having just highlight pieces is so helpful. I love you and your style . Love from Glasgow/Scotland.
I love your channel! Even though it's out of my budget. I love putting on the channel. I get to see, learn about upscale style. As a plus I get listen to you. It's like having a good friend over. We all need one these days! ❤️❤️💐🌈
Thrift stores, garage sales and Facebook marketplace are your friend. Trust me. I used to think high design was out of my budget too and then I discovered that people are literally tossing their amazing old luxury out. You may have to put a bit of love and work into the old pieces like paint and sanding, but you can get really unique and amazing pieces for dirt cheap if you look around. Give it a try! I think you’ll be really excited by what you find.

@@meggethann I love vintage, and before covid that was a treat for me going out to find me some little treasures. *I love tea cups/pots. Unlike Arvin's style. I'm an empty nester that finds comfort in the little treasures found at thrift stores ever since I started watching his channel I've put some of it away😆. I love watching him. He's opened up another type of style for me. I think I can add a little touch of class with my vintage.

@@tatygonzalez8664 I love vintage too! Arvin’s style is so different from mine, but I’m modern Victorian with a flare for eclectic. I’ve just started adding mid-century modern into my rooms and I’m loving how the clean lines are contrasting with the elaborate, vintage pieces. I always look for designers who are different from my own taste to see if I can find something new to bring into the room.
For your tea cups/pots-you could create a vignette or display where you rotate out which ones you want during different months. That way it doesn’t look cluttered and you can really appreciate each piece for awhile before switching it out. If you love them, find a way to embrace it and show it off. That is my biggest struggle...I have a too much gene and I put too much out all the time. I am trying to pick up from Arvin a bit of elegance and simplicity.
@@meggethann yes, yes that's so true! I have a few (several) 🤣 and my home is too small 800sq ft to display them. I hide some away. I wish I had a friend like you! My daughters come over and say mom you have too much going on. I say they make me happy-plus I don't have any little one running around any more 🤷

Thanks for this episode. I redid my bedroom in dramatic navy velvet and cool grays. So naturally I gravitated towards silver accents. But it didn’t click. I’m adding some brass accents for contrast and decluttering. Great information!

My big fluffy comforter won’t fit in my washing machine! It’s beautiful but I’m tired of having it cleaned. I am going to donate it and layer two manageable comforters, same “luxury,” better maintenance. I live and learn.
Actually I bought a thrift shop I bought a $4 cotton waffle weave heavier blanket that is charcoal.... I bought it a couple of years ago Before all of a sudden heavier weighted blankets was considered trendy. And it is perfect for Florida in that added weight when you need it. You don't have to go out and buy a 25 pound blanket or a 10 pound blanket to stay comfy and sleep better. You can buy two Thrift Shop blankets for $8 and then you have what you need. And the thing is it's very trendy And goes very well when I add all of my 85,000 billion dollars worth of other stuff. Ha ha. And it does the job and you can wash it. Good deal and quite lovely. So there ya go. Love the videos...
if my blankets dont weigh enough, i kick them off and then freeze. i like heavy blankets and quilts too (plus my grandma made the quilt :). i put a top sheet so its more neutral though)

Then.....in the formal LR I invested $$$ in two chairs with a print fabric, now I don’t like them. The cost to reupholster is the same to replace, ☹️ still expensive. Buy neutrals !!!
