I’m a translator and native in both Arabic and English
In order to translate the names of Allah you need to learn Tawheed and practice it while translating ; because the names of Allah are absolute attributes . When you say full of compassion you don’t apply tawheed rules; absolutism of Allah requires for each attribute to be the greatest. Full of… can still be subjective (a kid full of joy; a mother full of mercy etc…)
But when you say The most merciful, the most compassionate it becomes an absolute attribute above all comparison

      1. The koran instructs husbands to beat their wives to submission.
      2. mahomet put his penis inside a 9 year old child.
Everything else is irrelevant, and only serves as noise meant to hide these two facts that define this criminal organization.

@@JohnGeometresMaximos Why did Muhammad or any of his companions not beat their wives if that's what the Quran says? Because 'beat' is a poor translation and only presented without the explanation given by Muhammad. The age of marriage was 7 years old in Britain until the end of the 19th century, it wasn't uncommon at all for people to marry very young, maturity and puberty used to be at the same age, nowadays it's not the case.

We have at least one sahih hadith narrated by Aisha stating momo hit her and caused her pain on her chest.
We have at least one more sahih hadith, again from Aisha, stating that one of momo's companions beat his wife so severely her skin turned green from bruising. momo did not punish or even scold her abusive husband. Nuff said on that.
It doesn't matter what the age of marriage was in Britain or Alabama USA.
momo is supposed to be the perfect example of moral character for ALL mankind forever. You can't relativize any of his actions or words, especially when it comes to extremely important matter such as child abuse.

There’s one Surah (chapter) that doesn’t start with basmalah, it’s Surat Attawbah (surah #9). Also, in Arabic, we refer a word to the past tense of the verb root. He mentions (Arrahman-Arraheem) these names stem from the verb (Rahima رَحِمَ) which means mercy ( v.). Then the word womb (n.) رَحِمٌ is conjugated from the verb.

It has to complete the number 114 but it is mentioned 113 times on front of each Surah.
On it it is 19. Bismillah has 19 letters.
So the number of Suras must be divisible by 19.
      114 ia divisible (not 113).
The miracle is that it is mentioned in Surat Alnamel
      سورة النملِِ. Surah 27 verse 30
انه من سايمان وانه بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم .
عليها 19 في سورة المدثر عدة الملائكة خزنة النارِ ولكن الايات التي بعدها تدل على السر - و ما جعلنا عدتهم إلا فتنة للذين كفروا ليستقين الذين أوتوا الكتاب ويزداد الذين آمنوا إيمانا .

@@jamalbaraja1629 yes …. and some people take 19 as a joke - but dont care to look into it - The Quran as scientific miracles, structural (ring composition) miracles, scientific miracles, and insane mathematical miracles embedded in the Holy Qur’an - 19 just being one of the many astounding overall miracles or more specifically one the deepest mathematical miracles of the Holy Qur’an
and people - MUSLIMS of all people- our FELLOW BELIEVERS like to TOTALLY ignore its prominence and say other MUSLIMS ARE REACHING to hard??? …… so your saying Allah said something with no meaning? or purpose to it? when he SAID - they will ask why??? and it will be a test, that “will, eventually, etc.” (meaning in the future if u read the actual arabic) that will boost the iman of the believers and make the disbelievers ponder …….
meaning this 19 embedded within the Quran was only possible in modern times thanks to computers - and u fellow believers find it as some joke??? Taking what Allah said not seriously?? - He did not say and point us to a RANDOM number such as تِسع عَشَر for no reason……
what I think it is (as in why some people act like there is nothing there or ignore it)… I think its because of some lunatics (tbh) that now try using 19 everywhere and try to find it in everything, even outside the Quran - like various dates of certain events for example smh.. and stuff like that…. which is a shame that people do this…. but STILL..no matter how FAR and schizophrenic somebody might become with something like 19 (maybe because of a compulsion disorder etc…), that does not mean u should simply throw such a profound number/miracle over your shoulder as if it does not exist …. It is one thing just to acknowledge its beauty, admit to it, and move on and ultimately expect nothing less of the Almighty Creator -- especially when you see all the amazing qualities of this revelation divisible by 19 by taking some time out to look into its beauty - BUT its a whole other thing to essentially laugh at those, mock, or ignore those who mention it at all (unless that person is going tooooo far and finding 19 in everything; because that said orson is looking for it everywhere ESPECIALLY outside the Quran, because if we try hard enough in life we can find congruency with many numbers that we choose to focus on)….but if its just a fellow believer mentioning the glory in that once peculiar verse and still do the same thing as a Muslim (mock, ignore or laugh at), THEN you are not JUST mocking just that person
no….instead you are laughing at, mocking and ignoring Allah swt

It seems to be impossible to accurately translate a whole book especially a religious book into another language but why not try? After all we have our roundabout ways of defining things that cannot be defined while translating. Besides this issue of translating word to word or sentence to sentence lies another complicated problem of understanding the mood or ontology of each sentence. That is probably the most puzzling one.

In translating from Arabic is it necessary to be sensitive to social development as it might affect the vocabulary? Bible scholars translating from the Greek must often be aware of subtle shifts of meaning over the centuries. Should modern scholars of the Quran likewise consider this? Thoughts?

Classical arabic is well-preserved, and is called Fus-Ha 'arabiyy in arabic, meaning pure arabic. Classical or Modern Standard Arabic is a mostly written and scholarly language, like latin. It dates back to the revelation.
In islam, there are no translations of the Qur'an, only interpretations into other languages. You always need to show the arabic script along with the translation.
As arabic is the most eloquent language on earth, and the Qur'an is the most eloquent speech in arabic, there's no translation that would suffice.

You need to have a deeper understanding of these terms to translate them. While Al Rahman is an attribute of attributes, Al Raheem is a single attribute. Al Rahman encompasses the Just, the Absolute, the One, the High etc., while Al Raheem is a single attribute meaning the ever merciful, or the dispenser of mercy. So a simple word for word translation will never give the correct meaning. I too have been trying since the mid 90's to translate the Quran but never really got anywhere.

My assertiveness in this subject is, suppose you or someone else solved the meaning of these two words. How the solution or understanding of these terms are going to benefit the collective human society?
My take is that, We will kill more, we will steal more, we will destroy our environment even more.
I suggest, Instead of wasting your lives away by keep talking about God, how about having genuine respect, love and a helping hand for each other. These can be understood and implemented easily, immediately and requires no PHD nor an special wardrobe to impress others to love and be loved back. To respect and respected back.
Is that too much to ask from extraordinary and just ordinary human beings to do?
    Just leave God alone.

Let’s see what Jesus the son of Mary peace be upon him will say about himself in the Holy Bible?
In Mark 13-32 but about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son, but only the Father,
    Matthew 7-22:23
Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and your name perform many miracles. Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.
In John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent
In Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one
In Matthew 21:11 and the multitudes said, this is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.
In Numbers 23-19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind,
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
In Luke 18:18:19 A certain ruler asked him, Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life, why do you call me good, Jesus answered. No one is good except God alone.
    In Matthew 19-:16:17
Why do you ask me about what is good.
    Jesus replied.
There’s only one who is good and that’s God
In Mark 10:18 do not call me good no one is good except God
In Mark 10:18 Jesus said do not call me good no one is good except God
In John 8:28 I do nothing of myself but, as the Father taught me.
In John 5:30 Jesus said I can of myself do nothing.
In John 8:28 Jesus said I do nothing of myself but, as the Father taught me.
In Matthew 26:39 and Jesus forward a little and fell on his face and prayed saying my Father if it be possible, let this cup pass away from me
In Exodus 20-4 You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

hello friends thank you for reading about my belief
    islam and Jesus and Mary
We muslims are in middle , between the Jews and Christians, when it comes to Jesus and Mary peace be upon them both. Jews speak ill of him and his mother and christians say he is GOD or the son of GOD or GOD him self or one in 3, we muslims with the grace of GOD say ,He was the messiah and the messenger of GOD just like the other messengers ,Abraham,Moses,Noah ..David and rest of them .They all came with the same message, even though the rules and regulations changed but basic message never changed ,Adam being the first prophet and the father of humanity (who was bowed down to by the Angels,(created by light) As respect for Adam not as worship ,all of the Angels compiled to this order of Allah except iblees ,who said you created me from fire (he was a jinn) and created him(Adam) from clay(the jinn race were created from smoke less fire and were on earth before us and are still present ,iblees was,not a fallen angle, jinns are a creation of free will like us .hidden from human eyes and are able to transform in to humans and animals and also able to fly ,Allah will judge them just like us and their destination either physical paradise or physical hell fire after physical resurrection, ) and Muhammad peace be upon him being the last prophet and messenger. all of them called to the worship of One GOD , peace be upon them all.
ALLAH (jews and Christians in middle east have been calling GOD ,Allah(which is his original Name) for centuries ,even the present day bible in arabic says Allah as GOD'
Allah has no likeness to his creation, his names and attributes are all perfect , He is above his creation, above his throne (The Throne is bigger than the universe and more) in a way which befits him , He is alone ,
like it is said in the bible ,listen oh Israel the Lord is our GOD The Lord is alone .In the Quran Allah says
,,Say He is Allah the ONE, Allah the eternal,He does not beget and He is not begotten and there is no one like him . Quran chapter 112
The Prophets and Messengers before Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, were send to a particular community of people ,Moses to his people,Noah to his people and Jesus to the children of Israel
Jesus said “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
but the last Prophet and Messenger Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and all the Prophets)
Allah send him to all of the mankind until day of judgment
Say, [O Muhammad], "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all Quran chapter 7.158. Prophet Muhammad is also Prophesied in the bible
Well then, who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?" "No," he replied. "Are you the Prophet we are expecting?" "No." Join 1,21
According to this the Jews were waiting for a Prophet who is not John the Baptist peace be upon him and John the Baptist is also confirming that there is a another Prophet which is not The Messiah , so read Isaiah 29-12
And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”
This Prophecy is for no other than Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. It has been narrated in
Sahih al-Bukhari 3-The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read." The Prophet added, "Then the angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.'" ...
Quran is the only word of GOD preserved in its original form, it has dozens of miracles ,including scientific and historical ,like the big bang , expansion of the universe, every living thing is created from water ,embryology in details ,black holes ,mountains as pegs ,different types of clouds ,water circle, Queen bee ,genders in plants ,Iron not from earth rather send down, ants speaking to each other , the preservation of the body of pharaoh as sign from Allah for the oppressors and much much more ,just type Islam and science and the above mentioned things in internet ,u tube and be surprised .May Allah guide the christians they can't prove the authenticity of the 4 gospels ,which were written 70-90 years after jesus ,mark and Luke never met Jesus , the title according to mathew was added in the second century and the gospel of John was written the last after 70 years of Jesus ,yet John suppose to be the beloved.
Don't forget in the council of Nicaea 325 years after Jesus ,the emperor and bishops rejected all those Gospels which mentioned That Jesus was the Messenger and the Messiah NOT the Son of GOD. Even authors of the revised standard version bible comprising of 50 scholars has declared that the word BEGOTTEN and trinity in John as
FABRICATION and not part of the bible.
Islam does not allow any intermediates between Allah and his creation. One is ordered to worship ALLAH directly seeking His help and forgiveness, All sins will be forgiven by Allah (GOD )with the exception of The sin association partners with Allah ,e.g. saying Jesus is GOD Or son of GOD ,in this case eternity in hell fire (I pray all those who read this, that Allah opens their hearts to Islam
As for Mary she is considers the woman of all times so much so that there is a whole chapter in the Quran in her name called soora muryam
GOD say in soora Aal-e-Imran َا3,42
And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds,
O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."
(And mention] when the angels said, Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ].in 3:46ّ
He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous.in 3,47
She said, "My Lord, (Allah ,GOD)how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.َّ
And in Quran ,chapter 3-59 GOD says
Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was.
    Jesus Not crucified
And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.4,157
Jesus will declare his innocence in front of Allah (GOD) on the day of judgment Al-Ma'idah 5:116
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. Al-Ma'idah 5:11
I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. Al-Ma'idah 5:118
,we muslims also believe in the second coming of Jesus peace be upon him
Jesus will return to kill the false messiah (dajal) and rule on earth as a just ruler and command the human beings to worship ALLAH alone ,just like what He did when He was on earth for the first time
I pray all of you out there ,who seek nearness to Allah (GOD), that He guides you to Islam and showers his mercy on you,
As Allah said to prophet Moses ,my mercy encompasses every thing (Quran chapter,7)Ameen peace

That's interesting. I'm sure the Qur'an is very eloquent but let's not forget that a person would struggle to translate the lord of the rings or gormenghast into Arabic or another language too. If you manage to capture one aspect of the original you miss another aspect and so on. It doesn't mean any of these books are divine just because it's a challenge to translate them perfectly.

    • @diamondsaf5064
      @diamondsaf5064 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes you are absolutely right, translating works from any language is difficult both ways as stylistic beauty easily gets lost. Each language is a whole world.
But the reason why it is believed to be as divine is because imagine this: You are a famous poet. You know an illiterate man who has always known to be truthful. His reputation has always been one of honesty.
One day you hear him reciting something in a beautiful voice. Every sentence rhymes just like poetry and has a melodious rhythm... but the sentences themselves are complete and make complete perfect sense just like prose. What's more is that there is no error in the speech you hear: his words are linguistically perfect, and not riddled by the usual features of spoken speech -(such as fillers, hesitations, grammatical errors) rather it is embellished with stylistic features such as alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, enjambment pause for effect, etc. This man can't read or write, remember.
So his recitation is pleasing to the ear. But the most impactful thing is the content of the speech. He claims that he is a messenger of God, that his recitation is a divine message directly revealed from God and that he has been sent to warn humansvthat there is no deity apart from God Himself.
Embracing Islam due to the final paragraph alone is easy (reasoning with 'fitrah' understanding of God's Oneness), but unfortunately, many Muslims may miss or not fully understand the "linguistic miracle" that the 7th C Arabs experienced unless they learn Arabic, but I hope this analogy waa of some help.

With all due respect doctor the word "Al rahman" in the Basmalah followed by the word Al raheem isn't what you've mentions but your almost alluded to it thu.
Al Rahman is rhymes with "Fa3lan" such as " 3atshan" and the opposite to 3atshan is "Rayyan" in other words this word Al Rahman is one of the words which could mean two things . One thing and its opposite... There are TWO verses in the "Quran" in which the " Al rahman" is the one who punishes..... " Athab al Rahman and of course there is the opposite to the punishment .
So the this make the word at the very end Al Raheem is the word which confirms that God / Al Rahman is the who more merciful...
Dr. Mohamed Shahroor is the only man who was able to make REAL sense out of what's in the Mushaf ..... And throw away the excess baggage of what is perceived to be of Islam/ Iman.

So soon as I see the phrase "the language of the Qur'an", there is this thing in my mind: Classical Arabic, spoken by the Quraysh. In Indonesia, Classical Arabic is the first foreign language taught to Indonesian children, and not English. Indonesians in general study the phonetics of Classical Arabic when entering the elementary school at the age of 7. However, Indonesians focus on the Arabic speech sounds, and seldom the meaning.

Raheem means compassionate and Rehman means Merciful.
    So it's like this.
I start with the name of Allah who is the most merciful and compassionate.

Modern Arabic language was driven from nabatians language ( mixed of Seyric, Aromic, hajaji and Kufi ) having only 14 Alphabets . Aiyats of Quran were engraved on stone's, clothes, leather pages ( palamset) in Nabatians language/ Hajaji .
In 7th century new language kufi Arabic was evolved. Sanna manuscript in yeman found in 1972 ,few translated copies from hajaji ( Nabatians) language were also found. Modern Arabic language in whuch Quran is written presently was completely developed in 8th century onwards only. Not before 8th century.

An alphabet is a collection of letters. It isn't 14 letters. It is 14 letters in their alphabet. Just like a dialect is not the same as an accent.

Man you are so far from knowledge.....you don't know what you are talking about.....
I suggest you go study .....more and seriousĺy .....
First....you need to know ..what is " QURAN ".....because it not the book you holding between your hand .....QURAN is the revelation of ALLAH to his messenger MOHAMED صلى الله عليه و سلم...it called QURAN..the root قرأ...which means "recite"...the book you holding on called "mushaf"...
Second....the english language can not replace the arabic language because the lack of words in it ...arabic language contains 12 millions word in it ...infront 300.000 words in english.....so many words has no translation in english...
If you use a word with close meaning it is ok... but if you are translating regular text ...but with words of ALLAH ....you becarefull....meanings are so very delicate and precise....you don't say anything and move on....for example "ALAAH " ...has no translation in english....because it has a very precise meaning ...which is " the one who is worshiped " .....GOD in arabic is " رب"...."RAB "....WHICH meanse the creator...and those two meanings are so defferent from each other......
Last.....you can not translate any word from the QURAN...only by language meanings....you need to be carefull of the tafsseer which is another science studiying the meanings of the QURAN.....and that is another story ...
And you need to know that البسملة ...BASMALLAH...it is not part from the QURAN ...in the oppinion of some islamic scholars.....means it is not ayat...it just "ذكر "...thikr ...to separate the chaptres....surats...
Man you lack of so many many informations of arabic , islam , and QIRAN

This is a great personal tragedy of every human being to translate the original language or pattern to its own System based on information, knowledge, data and wisdom.
    For example:
ALLAH or Rab and all basic terminologies of QURAN can not be translated into any other words BUT ONLY Meaning.
Oxygen equalent in other languages is None but Meaning. QURAN is very simple to read & understand.
