CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Diane (Ione Skye) appears at kickboxing practice to tell Lloyd (John Cusack) that she really loves him.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Ione Skye plays Diane Court, high-school valedictorian on the verge of heading to England on a prestigious scholarship. This is especially thrilling to Diane's divorced father, James (John Mahoney), who has always shared a special relationship with the girl, less father/daughter than friend/friend. When Diane begins dating irresponsible army brat Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack), her father despairs at her choice of an "underachiever." Pressured by her dad to break off the relationship, Diane spends the rest of the summer being pursued by the lovestruck Lloyd, who does everything he can to win her back. Diane finally realizes there's more to life than perfection when her sainted father comes under the scrutiny of the IRS.

Do I think it was necessary? Not really.
I'm crying. I will always cry for this scene. This movie changed my life. I spoke to the girl I loved because of this movie.

After Lloyd asks “Are you here because you need someone or you need me?” I get the feeling that Dianne’s “I need you” line was added in post. I think the scene is more powerful without it because it highlights Lloyd’s unconditional love for her.

I think it’s better with it because it shows how much they need each other. For Lloyd to take her back we needed to see how much she really meant wanting and needing Lloyd.
I disagree I think it's better with that line because with that line it shows that she truly loves him and wants to be with him and that she is not using him.

Still without a doubt one of the greatest scenes in cinemas history and one of the greatest movie and a all time favorite of mine, this scene always makes me shed a tear.

I think he took her back too easily. The thing that bothered me about Lloyd was that he never knew how special he was. It SHOULD have mattered to him why she wanted him back. The fact that she couldn’t say, “I need YOU, Lloyd,” always puzzles me when I watch this.
His friends always tells him he is special. Besides, when you are in love, it really doesn´t matter to you why the person you loves is with you.

Its not weak. Its strength. Diane wasnt just "rejecting" Lloyd. She was all screwed up from her manipulative father pushing her so hard to makeup for him being such a screw up. Lloyd understood the trauma.
But she *does* say it, after they kiss.

Does anybody knows why the film was named "Say Anything"? I didn´t find the reason in the actual film.
the relationships in the movie aare all about intimacy and telling those closest to you how you feel. Watch and pay attention to the dalogue in the film. Diane actually tells her dad in an arguement when she finds out that he stole from his clients that she can say anthing to him.
@@damosvas8195 And that's after he tells her she can say anything to him when they argue after she first sleeps with Lloyd. She turned his words against him because he essentially demanded honesty from her without offering it himself.
