Oo so excited to have found this channel, just came from the Mallet video. Idk why, but I love mallets for some reason.
And his is probably one of the nicest I’ve seen. Loved it! Too expensive for me, but that’s okay-it was entertaining to watch.

Been absolutely loving having plenty of your videos to watch recently. Loved watching the shaker series and might be one to have a go at! Thank you.
One question though….where are the final images of the finished piece?!

You don't water pop the grain between the grits of sandpaper? I always water pop at least before my last grit to make sure the finish doesnt raise the grain.

I notice that you do not do anything to raise the grain on the last (240 grit) pass prior to finishing. I always do this (but I do not work with walnut) and was wondering if you do not need to with walnut? Keep up the interesting content!

You only need to raise the grain for water based or water borne finishes. Other finishes such as what he uses here do not raise the grain.

Yep as the above reply states, this finish doesn’t raise the grain. Also the non abrasive pads I use do a really nice job of burnishing the surface while applying the finish. So even if there were small areas of fluffiness, it would even them out to some extent.

What's the advantage of sanding the bottom of the table top? Couldn't you just leave it rough (or just planed)?

Nothing, it’s just what fine furniture makers do. For some reason knowing there are parts of your project not finished to the same level is quite a bother.
