I remember going over to my sister's place for Thanksgiving and couldn't figure out why they weren't televising this game. We were in NW Ohio, 60 miles from Detroit and I knew nothing of television blackouts.
Young Rookies Bubba Baker & Doug English we’re a menace to the quarterback! Monte Clark had some competitive teams but they never seemed to get over the hump of mediocrity. Even when they drafted Billy Sims in 80 & started 4-0 I got pumped to no avail. A heartbreaking loss to Bears on Thanksgiving 9-7 record & not even a wildcard. Followed up by 8-7 Lions versus 8-7 Buccaneers in 1981. Lions at home winner takes division & we blow it. 1982 2-0 start & then the strike happens. We sneak in playoffs with 4-5 record only because 75% of the league made postseason & we get demolished by Redskins. Then in 83 we finally win the division & play a tough gritty game against Niners & despite 5 ints by Danielson we still have a chance to win the game thanks to Billy Sims having an amazing day. In the end Eddie Murray misses a 41 yard field goal. Like I said Clark had them competitive but it was never enough. Always been disappointed as a fan. Despite having some real talented players over the years. Thanks to anyone who read my rant & can sympathize. 😂
Two things I noticed here that you don't see anymore: 1. The offense huddles about 10 yards behind the ball. When did that practice stop? 2. When did TV stop cutting to the head referee signalling whether a kick was good or not?
The quality of this recording is very good for a 45 year old game.
Great upload as I used to love the Broncos orange pants with the white jersey look.

IMHO Detroit's uniforms looked better with silver numbers outlined in white than the other way around.
Dick Enberg’s first NFL Thanksgiving game
I for sure thought before this game came on that Curt Gowdy who was in his last year at NBC was going to call this game.
Oh yeah! Thank you!
Great upload. 1986 browns vs Vikings available by chance?

The Silverdome always looked like it was under lit.
THere was always a haze of cigarette smoke back when you could still smoke inside.
My first Thanksgiving Day game with my father

Great history, and you echo mania of my own sentiments
Lifelong Browns fan here. I can certainly commiserate with you, with our latest gaffe giving Watson the keys to the team and organization. 🤮😁
31:29 Big Sack on this play
38:41 😮

How is Randy Gradishar not in the HoF? Dude was a beast for MANY years.
He is in the Hall of Fame now. He was inducted this year.
