Hey guys, I'm currently out on the road, and totally forgot to make my article for this video on the website public 😖 I will be sure to have it up and operational within 24 hours. Thanks for understanding ❤ (UPDATE: Article Link: happinessbythemile.com/organizing-your-truck/)
Dollar tree, it surprised me. Went in for a couple items and came out with 28 items. I cook on my truck. Had to buy a propane burner and a skillet. Works great.
Shelf liner.... The honeycomb puffy stuff... Also, where the bins don't fill the space, just fill the edges with something that fits there, like Dakota's leash, or some extra socks, or heavier gloves or something. And I couldn't tell watching the video, but you'll probably want a bungee or something across that opening that you're using for snacks if there isn't one already there.
Thank you for doing your part in maintaining our supply chain, especially during this time. I work in a grocery store in Maryland & ever since last Thursday (3/12) evening, it's been a struggle keeping shelves stocked. Too many people panic shopping -- great for business but that's about it... All of the stockers are worn out... But we're there everyday to support everyone in this time of need.
Next time you are at Target or a Dollar Store check out the school supply isles and get a bunch (a dozen or so is a good start) of the flat school erasers. Sometimes I find a big canister of them for schools. They are cheap and make great spacers/wedges to keep slick bins in place by just putting them in gaps. Because of their shape they can be used flat, on their sides, stacked, etc. Easy to remove and reuse and stops a lot of sliding, just a suggestion.
@@georgesymons9843 They have a product called "Hot Logic" if that's what you are referring to. It's pretty awesome actually. JBG Travels uses it all the time and the food cooked in it looks amazing.
@@colleendianuzzo I have a slow cooker and a single burner electric stove from Wal-Mart. So I can also cook normally as well. I like to eat well and I don't like fast food.
In the mist of All of the COVD Isolation and news I was happy to see the new video to take my mind off of all of this mess. Stay safe out there Shelby!
You are so organized! From placing all your stuff on your bed to placing it in the truck! Thanks for another great video! You too BK, thank you! Stay safe!
Shelby lookup "Silicone Nano Tape" RV'ers and Sailors use it to stick things down on moving things. If you have something rattling it is double sided for sticking. You stretch it like Command Adhesive to remove it. It's clear so it's invisible.
Buy some sponges and double sided tape. Cut the sponges to fit the gap for your bins. Then just use the tape to put them on the side of the bins. Everything stays in place and no noise.
We have a St Bernard. Hair everywhere. We use the hair extraction comb thing. It really reduces hair that falls off dog. Of course there are certain times that dogs eject there coats as seasons change. Be Safe 😊
I love that Dakota has a vest as well! The organization looks awesome! for the drawers, you could use mats that are cut to fit for tool boxes to keep things from sliding around. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for all you and your fellow drivers are doing for our country. I’m not a truck driver but I come from a looooong line of truck drivers. I have mad respect for your trade. I love your videos and find your content so fascinating. Again, thank you for helping to keep America alive. ❤️🌈☀️
I live in GA and our grocery stores are fully stocked except for toilet paper and any kind of disinfectant products, they have been doing an awesome job of restocking and a lot of it is due to you truck drivers, God bless you all !
Never happy with my stuff in the truck, every time I stop for more than a few hours i redo the whole thing. You'd think after 19 years I'd find a system I like...flatbedders always hoarding stuff
You can also buy what is called a school locker shelf. And it's a little metal shelf then you can put together and that way you can put stuff under it and then it gives you a shelf and then you can put stuff on top it works really well in trunk my husband has been trucking for about 40 years now. So we've have kind of learnt a lot of tricks
Be safe out there! Our stores have empty shelves also.. thanks to the inconsiderate people out there who think ONLY of themselves... I'm retired from trucking.... Thank You for what you and the rest of the Truckers are doing out there! God Bless you
I’m not a truck driver, but for work have to plan for an 8 hour shift turning into a 12 so I tend to pack some canned soups in my vehicle if I ever need the food, I also work at elevations so the chances of getting snowed in are possible so the soups would work in that situation as well. Seeing as you can’t microwave a metal can, I always keep one of the rubber-made 3 cup containers with the soups so I have a way to heat them up, that and I always carry a large supply of plastic spoons. And yes, most stores are sold out of dry foods and canned goods, I hope you were able to stock up at some point, stay safe and healthy!
to help with the bins sliding in the drawers issue, i would suggest either little rubber feet, or sticky velcro dots. For the dots you can put them down on the drawer and stick to the bins that way if you need to pull the whole bin out, you can just separate the velcro. For the rubber feet, you can stick them to the bottom of the bins and it should greatly reduce the chance of sliding, and they both should be available at a dollar store, walmart, or in a pinch even at a truck stop.
to fill spaces so stuff doesn't shift around, get some Styrofoam pieces (flat, square, round in varying sizes) from a craft store to keep the stuff in place
Idea I use in every truck: plastic drawers that fit in your built in cupboards. I have a 3 drawer in my T680 closet top partition. Holds my socks, shorts and utensils/spices for cooking. Then food in three bottom part.
I'm with you, I don't worry about a microwave in the truck anymore, but I DO have a mini George Foreman grill for hamburgers and grilled chicken! I'm also a gamer, so I've got a T.V. and my PlayStation in here too 🎮📺😉. Stay safe, driver! And that heckin' cute doggie too!🚛
I find this person astounding she will be flying planes scuba diving or skydiving or repelling her mind us adventureous organized and smart and sweet hearted
If you don't want a microwave. Get a lunch box heater. Takes up very little space runs on 12v and they're awesome . They get hot enough to cook in. Also tire shine works way better for dash and headliner. Lasts longer and doesn't collect dirt like armor all
The thick rubber drawer liners work the best they come in rolls I put carpet between the seats and in the sleeper..I always removed my shoes to help keep them clean
Get silicone or rubber stick tabs for your containers. They come in small sheets and go on the bottom of each corner. It will keep stuff from sliding. You can get them from home depot or Walmart. I believe they are made by 3m or scotch or something like that.
I use tool drawer liner a lot in vehicles to help stuff from sliding. It's a bit cushy as well. Comes in huge roll in hardware store tool box area. O ly pro lem is its black. Similar rolls.of kitchen draw/cabinets are available as already commented. Tks for sharing. Love the videography!
To stop the bins from sliding in the drawers you should use that material you can cut and lay in your kitchen cabinets and drawers. They come in rolls and have grip so I don’t think your plastic bins would slide.
I got some plastic drawers at walmart. Its 1 drawer in a stackable frame. I use them to put socks, undies, meds, chargers, small snacks etc in. In the taller cabinet they stack up nicely!
Get tool drawer liner material, they sell it at Walmart, Harbor Freight, auto parts stores..., use it under your plastic trays so they won’t slide. If you cut them into smaller squares or rectangles and let them free float. You don’t need to attach them. A small roll is cheap. You can even cut a piece for under your dog dish so it won’t slide.
You can get Velcro for the cubbies (put them on the bottom and then attach the other side to the drawers) in your shelf to keep things from shifting. I’m in NC and it’s crazy how fast things have diminished. It’s not that trucks have stopped; it’s people overreacted and bought so many things! There isn’t enough for the demand. Stay safe out there! ❤️
Not sure which store, probably Home Depot, you could get a roll of the non slip rubber mats t(have dimples to stop things sliding about. You can usually get a roll which you can cut up into different shapes and sizes. Good luck in finding something to stop your things sliding about.
Far as drawer liners, you can go to any place that sells tools, menards, Lowe’s, ect. get tool box drawer liners, come in a roll usually and just cut to size.
Another solution for your drawers to avoid you bins ( inserts) is to use Magic Erasers, they also work well in cup holders if your cup base is too small. They are soft and conform pretty well to tight spaces.
I have the same peach fuzzy blanket in my truck! I do the same thing....I put so much thought and preparation into organizing our truck. Hubby keeps the outside clean and I keep the inside clean. I like your videos. Thanks for not making it seem like all female truckers are just looking for attention. You take it seriously. You're pretty too! 🤗 Be safe!
I live in Portland Oregon and it has been so crazy there is no toilet paper in any of the stores and everyone is walking around in a daze the anxiety is thick. My prayers are that we love each other and help each other through this. I was so excited to see you had another video up. Your positive videos and energy will help us get through this. Lots of love girl be safe out there!! Keep them coming!
Shelby....I am a new CDL holder. Was hired by Melton, but also have an application in to FEDEX also so weighing my options. However, I would suggest instead of a microwave, I am planning on bringing my InstaPot on the truck! You can reheat, sear, slow cook, and most importantly pressure cook. So other than my practice set of golf clubs, my instapot will be my number 1 addition that I MUST have! If you have never used one and either enjoy cooking or can just a little bit, you will have your mind BLOWN! Hope that helps.
Please make sure you and Dakota safe out there in these hard times, we all need to two of u to keep are shelves full of needed supplies and are minds full with these great videos
Easy get an inverter those yellow ones from any truck stop get it installed then you can get an aura small crock pot from Walmart (it works with the 1000w inverter I suggest a 2000w is better) then look for one pot recipes I personally like the one last from “loving it vegan” specially the vegan quinoa chili, vegan minestrone, mushroom soup, cabbage curry soup and so on. So easy to make and super healthy. Some recipes calls for veggies I just get a long container so I can wash them with vinager or baking soda. I always drink hot teas with ginger or so to get stable energy so a kettle is essential too. I never need the microwave instead I get the already made popcorn and all from sprouts is never crowded 😉 Hope that helps!
I drive reefer trailer. Can not keep up with demand. NYC is so eerily quiet. It’s sad actually. People are scared. Truckers like us have to keep going and hopefully give whatever peace it may bring to those in need. Thank you for what you are doing out there. Let’s keep this society moving. Stay safe, Be well.
Tip...check the truck stop for missing food items. I found bread today in beto junction Kansas T/A. And cans of corn and green beans at the flyingJ in Oklahoma city. Be safe out there everyone 🙏 :)
When I served in the navy we have half as much space for ten times as much stuff. I found having all those little boxes in my cupboards wasted space. Stacking was the key, bungee cord and double sided tape was the way to secure all our gear.
Some thoughts. 1. Museum putty. Put that on the bottom of your bins, they won't move an inch! 2. Expandable drawer dividers to make things as tight together so that they won't move (thinking about your shower stuff). 3. Command strips to hang things along with museum putty behind them so they don't move. I'd use a file holder or something similar for your frequently used paperwork, post it on the outside of your cabinets and putty it so they don't move. 4. hot logic to heat up food in your truck. Allows you to meal prep and reheat in the truck. Might be healthier than canned goods. 5. Request. I'd love to see a what you eat in the day, if you haven't done so already. :)
if you're a company driver, a neat way of making shelves in your truck is magnets, get the good ones on amazon that can hold like 25-75lbs, which sound super heavy but you dont want them falling off while going down the road, you will want to buy anti-slip rubber lining used in kitchen\tool drawers to put between the magnets and the plastic this will stop containers from moving and when placing magnets against steel the liner will keep them from scratching and also make it easier to pull them off. put one on the inside of the cabinet door or plastic panel, or on the other side of the top bunk, or over head panel, etc, I had one on my top bunk which i always left down, and then i put a metal plate on my tablet, so my tablet stuck to the bottom of my top bunk, so I'd watch movies laying on my back lol. I also had container shelves on the outside of my cabinets, and a hook for my hoodie/jacket/wet cloths/anything else for containers just glue another magnet to the inside of a container or any object you want to magnetize, and bam, you have a way of connecting stuff and making shelves without messing up the truck. I think its better than Velcro. because Velcro adhesive is a real pain to remove after its been there for so long. plus magnets are fun. lol once you start playing with them there is a whole new world of trouble to get yourself into. you can also use them on the outside of your truck, you can put a piece of the kitchen shelf liner between the magnet and the steel. but make sure you dont use anything stronger than the 25lbs ones, and otherwise you will find yourself really really really shocked at how hard a 75lbs magnet is to remove from the steel. its easier with a plastic panel between them like on the inside. its where I kept my brush to use on my boots before i got in the truck. and my rod I use to grab the handle to release the trailer. and my outdoor chair. I also had a magnet on my tire thumper which made it stick nicely to the frame of my drivers seat.
For your drawers, just go to a harbor freight or any kind of tool store and get tool box drawer liners...they are thinner and should help prevent things from sliding
How did you train your dog to not go after squirrels and stuff? And stay with you and not run away? I’m going to get a German Shepherd in the fall. Can you do a video about your dog? Thanks Shelby. Love your videos!!! Be safe out there!
Hun I'm sure somebody's already told you but that rubbery shelf liner would work great to keep things from slipping and you can cut it to the exact size.
if that is a mattress that other people used or will use, I'd put a tarp on before the fitted sheet. Something like an Arcturus reflective emergency blanket fits a queen size bed.
Stop at a dollar store and get a cheap pool noodle...you can cut it into all sizes to take up empty space in cabinets and drawers to keep stuff from sliding around and making noise. Pool noodle about $1.00 and very useful in RVs and trucks.
You could pick up some blue poster tack to use on the bottom of your containers so they don’t slide around. Super easy to use and comes off with no mess if you need to change things around!
For the drawer full of plastic bins I think using a cut up pool noodle would work to completely stop the bins from moving at all. Since it's really early spring most big chain stores like walmart and target are getting out the spring/summer outdoor kid toys which include those tall foam pool noodles. Since those pool noodles are relatively cheap you wouldn't have to feel guilty about cutting up the foam material into whatever demensions/shape you want to sit perfectly between the edge of the bins and the edge of the drawer. Just an idea
Hey Shelby! I’m so happy to see that safety vest. And I’m impressed, you have one for Your dog too! Kudos to you! Ha. I’m amazed at how much room you have in your truck! Well, be SAFE and keep the vids coming!
Awesome job don't it feel good to have everything organized makes you feel fresh all the way around, P.S thank you to ALL TRUCK DRIVERS for bringing our daily products to our cities in this time of crisis. God Bless you out there be safe. 👍😷🙋♂️
I think Velcro with adhesive backing would work to keep your organizer boxes in place. Of course, when you leave the truck, you might need a straight-edge to pry it from the drawer bottoms.
Ahhh, totally understandable about the safety vest. We have 2 grocery stores in the town where I live and the one is doing really well as far as making sure that people don't hoard things such a toilet paper and such. The other store isn't doing things that way. So it's more knowing what you need and hopefully being able to find it.
I feel that's the only normal way to stow socks. Easy to grab a pair when alternating toe/heel and why would anyone want to ruin them by rolling and stretching them out. Seems crazy to me lol, you're doing it right! Be safe out there, all of the grocery stores around me are wiped out.
You should buy a pool noodle, cut it into strips that fit, and shove it in the side of that top drawer just to keep your bins from sliding. Pool noodles are usually $1 and you can clean them really easily in the case of spills. Drawer liners are a little harder to clean. Love your channel!!! #notruckerleftbehind
love all the space you have to carry your items. I drive away new transport vehicles so I have to limit my stuff to one suitcase and one backpack so makes things very limited. That living space looks so appealing!!

Dollar tree, it surprised me.
Went in for a couple items and came out with 28 items. I cook on my truck. Had to buy a propane burner and a skillet. Works great.
Use blue tack balls on the bottom of your storage solution trays and they won’t move...
Update how's it going with your stuff make update video?
Anti-slip mats for the cabinets... they're available everywhere that has kitchen stuff. Even grocery stores sometimes carry them.
turgsh01 Yes! They come in rolls that you can cut to fit.

Use non slip shelf liners, they come in a roll and just cut to size.
Or velcro strips would work too
Or if there's an IKEA nearby, STOPP anti-slip underlay.
I use 1 inch velvro for everything, tv remotes paper pictures on the wall etc. I agree with this recommendation
I would be lost without my slow cooker. Throw something in It at the middle of my day and have it ready when I shut down for the night/day.

I never need the microwave instead I get the already made popcorn and all from sprouts is never crowded 😉 Hope that helps!
Loving the truck tour! Thank you. I help my trucker organize his truck and this is helpful!
Great video Shelby
I also had container shelves on the outside of my cabinets, and a hook for my hoodie/jacket/wet cloths/anything else
for containers just glue another magnet to the inside of a container or any object you want to magnetize,
and bam, you have a way of connecting stuff and making shelves without messing up the truck.
Might try to make up a dogie first aid kit.... Just in case and keep it with her food. That's what I do. Just a suggestion 😊
If you don’t use your top bunk and don’t mind it folded down, take out the mattress. Place plastic bins up there. Plenty of space for everything
Hun I'm sure somebody's already told you but that rubbery shelf liner would work great to keep things from slipping and you can cut it to the exact size.
Good luck from Russia, colleague!
if that is a mattress that other people used or will use, I'd put a tarp on before the fitted sheet.
Also to help with organizing , use removable hooks. They leave no holes. I think they are made by 3m.
Velcro strips also work real well for keeping larger bins from moving around. You can buy a roll of it and cut it to any size you need.
I love the windows in your bunk. Even cooler there tinted
Awwww - she's a cool doggie - look she want to drive !!!! And I bet if she had hands she would and could !!!!! :)
Remember if it fits it ships. Also try Target or Walmart they get a shipment every day that’s what the Cashier told me at Walmart
Awesome job don't it feel good to have everything organized makes you feel fresh all the way around, P.S thank you to ALL TRUCK DRIVERS for bringing our daily products to our cities in this time of crisis. God Bless you out there be safe. 👍😷🙋♂️
Thank you 🥰
I think Velcro with adhesive backing would work to keep your organizer boxes in place. Of course, when you leave the truck, you might need a straight-edge to pry it from the drawer bottoms.
So damn cute!!! Just adorable.. Doggy's cute too.
Use a rag or an old t shirt or something to fill that little space in the drawer so the storage bins don‘t slide around:)
Silverware drawer liners are super easy to cut, and they’re cheap too. They’ll be perfect for your drawers.
thank you for upping my storage game, seriously.
love all the space you have to carry your items. I drive away new transport vehicles so I have to limit my stuff to one suitcase and one backpack so makes things very limited. That living space looks so appealing!!
Quick tip with the vest, DOT likes to see it so it helps if you hang it on the passenger seat but that might not be viable with Dakota
You could put down some shelf protector/liner for kitchen shelves that should help keep those from sliding around.
