    This is so cool! I’m in a wheelchair too, and I think it’s so cool and interesting to see average people trying to navigate the world in a wheelchair! 😂

    Fantastic. I wish all able bodied people could do a day in the life of a wheelchair user. I have only been in a chair for just over a year so I am still experiencing new issues that I have never come across before. When out with my husband or kids there always seems to be accessibility issues. I politely point out any issues I so their aware of the situation. Apparently this is horribly embarrassing to my family. I’m sure a day in a wheelchair would cure them. I’m will be getting my first custom chair in the spring so I will have an extra chair to experiment with.

    Using my wheelchair in clothing stores is a nightmare... My friend had to push me through Spencer’s because everything was too narrow for me to try and attempt to navigate... She couldn’t even turn me around in the entire store...

    I’m glad you and your friend made this video because the average person doesn’t take these things into consideration. This was my first year in a wheelchair and it was really eye opening to all the struggles of wheelchair users.

    I just stumbled upon your channel recently. I think this video is really insightful, there’s still a long way to go to make the world more accessible for everyone. Would love it if you posted more full length videos 😊

    Thank you for this video. I am trying to find videos for my Engineering students in Middle School to show them difficulties people have with accessibility and I came across this video. You did a great job with this. Any chance you could do one so kids can see difficulties faced at school?

    I am in the UK . I have a friend who is a wheelchair user . She lives in an estate of purpose built flats . The really weird thing ! the estate is at the top of a hill . She does not like help but how she does that hill , really really hard work.

    If more people experienced what it is like to use a wheelchair and all it's not, but some of the perks, people could get a better understanding, and how fortunate they are, and how they take a lot of what they can do easily that wheelchair users can't, maybe they would be more on the politer, if not understanding, instead of stereo-typing disabled people, I have had people literally honk at me because it took a little more to cross a wide street section, this is just an example

    I'm heading towards a wheelchair. It's scary. My doctors don't believe I walk using a walker. They thought I would be done after one year. I'm scared. No one to take care of me.

      @@philipjohn1254 Trying to channel my worry in to action, but it's not an overnight thing to do. Getting a suitable place to live that I can afford, and the waiting lists are long where I live. In the meantime just figuring out ways of doing things without falling down and breaking my body. Being very diplomatic with people to get help with certain things like taking out garbage etc. Staying safe is #1. And... keep walking slowly and safely as long as I can! I'm not afraid of a wheelchair; I've known it's coming and accepted it. It's making sure I'm in safe circumstances when the final day of leg function comes. Ok, getting in and out of bed, the toilet, the shower does scare me every time because if I fall it's hard to haul 6' 2" and 210lbs up off the ground with two semi-screwed up arms. Do you get scared of all this stuff? Like falling. Thanks for asking!

      @@deportedtocanada8683 My dad is a double amputee & it was hard for him at first but with practice and determination he got it. Don't be afraid, people with mobility issues fall in the beginning stages but it does get easier.

    • @leglesslizz8428
      @leglesslizz8428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsmetee89 yeah, I agree with every word. Double amputee myself, used to be absolutely terrified of the perspective of not being able to walk anymore in the first months. Damaged spine made it incredibly painful for me to use prosthetics. Then I slowly adapted to my new lifestyle. Learned to be independent and less insecure. Being in a wheelchair sucks but with enough persistence you can reach great goals. @Deported to Canada Don't give up!
