It's not a dead short, it's a GFCI Arc-fault breaker, swap the breaker for a NORMAL breaker problems solved. I had the same issue with my treadmill. Arc-fault breakers don't like brushed motors they will trip with any brushed motor under load. If you want to test, run a heavy duty extension cord out to another outlet that's not on an Arc sense breaker. Most of your outside (GFCI and Arc-Fault) any outlet in the garage, kitchen, bathrooms sometimes in the bedroom are Arc-Fault. These breakers "listen" to the circut to sense arcing which is exactly what a heavy duty brushed motor (like your treadmill) does. When they sense it, they trip. Ham radio operators find this out the hard way also, key the mic and breakers trip. RF loves to seek out powerlines, even the ones running through the walls of your house. Too much RF and CLICK breaker pops. Don't judge the breaker, it's doing exactly what it was designed to do, it's just not very convienient when you need to use it for one of the purposes above. Swap the breaker out and your problem is solved. Check with your local code if you are swapping breakers, some states require arc fault or ground fault (GFCI) breakers in the garage and outdoor outlets in order to maintain electrical code.
I definitely care your a genius!!
Thanks
We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.
That's great! Glad you're up and running again!
Pro form 625 digital display numbers are scrambling and blinking really fast any suggestins?
Can you please help me my Horizon 7.0AT keeps shutting off whenever I go on a 10.5 incle with 3.5 speed it only last about a minute before it resets the incline to 0 and the speed to 0.5. I'm currently walking on it at 3.0 incline and 1.5 speed its been about 4:00 minutes and its fine I don't know what to do
Hello, do you have the serial number off the machine?
Excellent. QUESTION: Tonight hubby was on treadmill I was on elliptical. All of a sudden circuit blew. Traced it to GFCI. Tried several times and as soon as we plug in the treadmill (not a component), it trips. We'll take it apart tomorrow and look for a bad wire, but if all "looks" ok, what part must we order? THANKS!!!
My treadmill trips the room circuit breaker when I start walking on it. My wife has no problem walking on it. Could this be due to the weight difference?
Hi on this video around 5:00 to 5:30 as you said my treadmill will turned off my circuit after working 4 ,5 same times 10 minutes what do you think?
Thank you
Simple and straight forward Thanks.
my treadmill goes for about 3 minutes and then the circuitbreaker at the front of the treadmill trips. Do I need an electrician for this or is this something I could fix?
+c4140 This is happening also. Any help would be great.
Did you find solutions?
same here. Please did you found a solution?
Same
Same here, mine trip the breaker once I accelerate the speed above .5 so I’m not sure what to do about it. I returned it and got another one thinking it might a been a faulty product but if this one does it also, I might call and electrician to upgrade the circuit
Any ideas when my breaker is only tripping when I hit the stop on the treadmill or bring the pace down to 0. It works fine beginning and during the work out it’s just at the end
How old is the walking belt and when was it last lubed? See link - www.treadmilldoctor.com/15-amp-breaker-trips-kf
Here is a test you can run - www.treadmilldoctor.com/dc-amp-draw
Call a electrician you need a new circuit. What is making the breaker trip is overload. Ground is just allowing a path of less resistance in the case of a short in the treadmill.

Thanks for such a clear, informative video. I checked all the components and everything’s fine, including the switch & power cord, so problem is definitely in the circuit board, which trips the breaker immediately when the treadmill is switched on. Any advice at this point? The circuit board is not dusty or dirty and there are no obviously damaged components. I’m not sure what to do from here...
This is my issue. Apparently, treadmill Dr isn't answering questions so I'm wondering if you figured out what to so?
@@scraperfectme too 😢
@@MrScoobieman Our problem was it was on a GFCI circuit and although the sircuit should have been large enough, it kept tripping the GFCI itself. I ran a (heavy duty) extension cord a short way to a different outlet which wasn't on the GFCI circuit and all has been fine since!
@@scraperfect ok thanks for the reply, I grabbed on extension and it still tripped a different breaker …. I guess it’s time to retire this machine
@@MrScoobieman are you sure the new circuit is not on a circuit breaker? We also replaced the GFCI in case it was a faulty outlet, btw, but moving it to a non gfci circuit was key. Are you absolutely sure the new outlet is not on a circuit which has a gfci outlet on it?
Love your detailed explanation.
I have a treadmill the motor runs fine but soon as you step on it it slows down to almost stop I've tightened the bell and I've just it but that doesn't seem to help it'll run fine without any weight on it but when you step on it it slows down What do you think would be
This sounds like you have a worn walking belt, have you tried lubricating it?
I have a treadmill and found its bridge rectifier failed shorted. It trips my 20A test circuit but not before it makes the rectifier spit some sparks and smoke out which is how I found that fault.
My treadmill trips my breaker when I try the speed button. Incline button is fine. I tested the motor with a drill battery and the belt runs fine.. any ideas as to the problem please?
TezAllez same problem here
Any luck on this problem?
If you haven’t lubed it regularly, the strain on electrical components eventually takes them out of specs. This took down my Sole F63. I sent board to Ebay vendor for repair (110$) and put on a new belt (old one had smooth underside), lubed it and it took off! $240 later, runs great!
My treadmill proform XT 70 shut down completely when i starting to run, at the same time my wall circuit breaker tripped , Than I reset my circut braker , the power comes back including my display board also I checked the control board, and it has a solid red light. What would be the issue typically in situations like this?
My drive motor works fine when I owe it with another battery, however when plugged into the board, it blows the circuit board (house).
Any ideas team? HealthRider 130T
How do I replace my treadmill power switch which got broken automatically?I am planning to buy the power switch from Amazon
What model is it going on?
In our latest treadmill troubleshooting video, we explore why your treadmill keeps tripping the circuit breaker and what you can do to avoid that from happening again. Let us know your thoughts!
Treadmill Doctor hello mcb will tripping when insert wire of motor
My wife's Horizon ct5.4 treadmill will shut off completely after about 10 minutes of her walking on it. The D23 led flashes everytime she steps down, then will get more steady and eventually trip the on off switch. The switch cannot be turned back on for a while. Any advice would be really appreciated
Solution: The walking belt is worn. The incline test is the best test for it if you don't have a way to take a DC amp draw. Put the treadmill at full incline and walk normally. If it takes it longer to shut off or does not shut off at all, you need to replace the walking belt. Be sure to inspect the deck for wear too. If you want to go for a cheap fix (that we don't recommend) try lubricating the walking belt. The best fix is to replace the walking belt and then regularly maintain it and keep the treadmill clean. You can give me a call at 888-362-1105 ext 298 if you have any further questions. Thanks
@@treadmilldoctor really eh?!? Hmmm. We oil the belt often and when the machine tells us too. I did notice white fluff of the floor, assuming it's belt material. The machine isn't even very old. I may take you up on that phone call. Thanks so much for the reply
No problem, I'm available 8-5 central
I have a Spirit Treadmill that my dad bought between 15-20 years ago. and over the past 2 years it slowly has been having some issues. like the sides of the top part /plastic fell off. but still works. but more recently. when I try to stop and pause it, it often and more and more will take me pushing real hard or just take a few seconds . but last night I was freaked out because I started the treadmill and ran for 10 =15 seconds as it was proably not even up to spee dyet and it went off along with 2 lights. I found out today it was a circuit breaker. we heard it go on. but a few times in a row when I hit on, it stayed, but hit the speed up button an di timmidiately trips. there is quite a bit of dust, haven't done maintenance on it in like 5-7 years as the place that sold it to us used to come every year 2, or 3 to tune everything up. but they have been nonexisnt for over 5 years maybe7 or 8 even. not sure. any ideas? I am hoping it isn't a matter of the motor being bad where it would be more expensive to buy a part than a new machine. and smply put , hope I can use it. I really like this treadmill even though it is old
average prices for a circuit board or motor is $200, and its usually one of these
Pls show the tread mill E-4 error problem
My platinum treadmill, when switch on immediately trips with a flash from motor.
Any advice
i think it is the wiring size that is too large in gauge - thin wire.
Very easy to understand.
If I am not in the treadmill and set the speed all the way to 10 it's fine. But whenever I start running on treadmill around 6 or 7 it trips the breaker. It's whenever it senses weight. What could be the problem?
Too much friction lubricate your walk belt.
will upgrading to a high inrush breaker solve the problem if nothing else works?
Jay Wonder No never mask the problem. Breaker is used to protect from overload or short circuit. If none of your electrical components is the issue then check the tension and condition of your drive belt, check to see if the idler and drive rollers are turning properly, otherwise check the condition and tension of your walking belt. You might need to lubricate the walking belt. If the walking belt does not turn properly while walking or running the motor will work harder causing the breaker to trip. Mind you though it is rare but your breaker might be defective so you might need to change the breaker of the same characteristics.
My breaker flips when I turn on the switch on the treadmill. I reset the breaker and turn on the switch a second time and it always works fine that time. Any ideas?
Do you have it plugged into a dedicated 20 amp circuit? Also is it plugged into a GFCI or AFCI outlet?
@@treadmilldoctor I believe it is 20 amps. It's got one other item on it, an air purifier. The outlet is just a regular one.
Unplug the purifier and see if that helps
@@treadmilldoctor Okay, I'll get that a try. I was thinking surge current was the problem. What do you think? Is there a device I can buy to put between the outlet and the treadmill that will absorb surge current?
Here is a link to the surge suppressor and a discount code to use at checkout, this is a good item to have to protect your machine - DISCOUNT CODE - ME22

i check all componets in power supply board but problem is still. motor runing some time and after burn 40N60
My brand new treadmill trips the breaker as soon as I plugged it in. The wall sockets aren’t even turned on 😞 May have to pull it apart and try this
I would open up the motor cover and check the wiring. If you're not sure how it should look you can email me a good picture to kclay@treadmilldoctor.com
I cannot even find the fuse in mine?
Breaker trips when I change from speed 6 to 8. Any recommendation ?
I think it's what he said in the video, it's likely the friction of the belt against the deck causing too much current draw. Simple solution may be simply to lubricate the belt/deck using silicone spray.
Most likely you're not using a dedicated outlet and you exceed the AMPS that that outlet has left for your treadmill when you increase the speed from 6 to 8. That will trip the breaker. If you have anything else on that circuit, unplug it and see if that fixes your issue. If it does, you need to upgrade your electric or keep other items off the circuit. If you have indeed a dedicated 20amp line to your treadmill, than its likely that your belt is worn and needs more lubricant or replacing (check deck also if you are going to replace the belt).
My 10 year old Sole Fore 63 turns on. It shorts when the starter is pressed!
My F63 has the same issue. Did you find a fix?
My tredmil is strating time fuse is defused pls help me
What model machine do you have?
Good information Guy!
very helpful, thank you!!
excellent advice.. thanks
Whatever it is,,,,,new circuit board $200,,,,new motor $200, time for a new treadmill
Mine doesn't trip the house it trips the treadmill !!!
Treadmill trips it reset when I plug it in..No lights on console..
BE CAREFUL YOU DONT TRIP !!!!
I gather you don't attualy get on these machines ?... Do you just buy them to fix 🤔
My treadmill will run for a short period then shut off. I have had the circuit board replaced and the motor. What else could be the issue?
