The rubber floor mats of the 540r help absorb some of the vibration and make it more comfortable for your feet and legs. The larger wheels of the 540r also make for a much nicer ride in rough ground. Those are the key reasons I went with the 540r over the 535m and even the z3xx series.

Are these decks stamped or forged? what gauge? trying to decide between the older Z54R (48") or a newer 2023 Z325E

I see on the newer model lineup for the 500 series they did away with the handle lift lever for the mower deck. We have a 540r and because I use the foot pedal a lot, the handle moves up and down as well. This causes the rod the handle to have a groove worn in it, I can see it eventually wearing completely through and breaking off. The transport lock is at the top of the bracket that rubs on the rod causing the groove in it. On the newer models, they have a yellow handle there to release the deck to lower it. I can see why it was redesigned.

If properly maintained it can live for upwards of 4500-5000 hours.

@@AmericanImplement how much is the z530m designed to mow? I just bought one and told my sales person the mower that I wanted without even discussing acreage! Lol.
Mine has the 48" deck. I mow approx 1 acre every 2 weeks and once a month an added 5 acre cemetery.

I’ve been looking for this video for some time now, thanks. But if you could pass some info to the John Deere engineers it would be helpful. I love both of these mowers & it’s a toss up on which to get. The sight fuel gauge sucks, I know you don’t recommend this but I’m a paraplegic & confined to a wheelchair want to get back to mowing my own yard. If it had a needle fuel gauge on the panel where the throttle control is that would be so helpful. But either way I’ll be making a purchase here soon but maybe they can help someone down the road.

Only thing I don't like about my 535 is the fuel sight have to get off the mower to see it 95% of the time

@@AmericanImplement striping kit is a must also completely different mower now that I have it. I'm not a Deere fan at all but this mower is slowly getting me to be one lol. It's an m model also but I think you already knew that
