    That’s great work on the John Deere the plastic welding was fantastic, and Ruby looks great, my kind of truck

      Thanks Vince! Yeah....I'm pretty partial to Ruby. She's the 13th OBS GMT400 (88-98) I've owned. But, she's a 99! They carried over the OBS body style in '99 and '00 only on the 2500 and 3500 platform trucks. Cheers! Zip~

      Thanks very much for the boost Bill. Unfortunately, many people simply don't care to or think to support the channels they watch. But I'm perfectly fine with that! It keeps my TH-cam family smaller. Cheers! And Thanks Again for being such a devoted supporter! Zip~

    I have a z540R and your video was very helpful!
    I appreciate that your video doesn’t have cuss words that so many other’s do.
    Keep up the good work!

      Thanks Mr Mule! Yeah.....plastic welding is fun sometimes. But this was the second Deere in less than a week I had to break out the Iron to stitch back together lol. Dang Deere! lol Cheers my Friend! Zip~

    Once again another great video. I am to old to get one of those zero turns mowers but they sure look like they work fast and well. Great find with that silly pulley and fix. Thanks for the video.

    Ruby looking great with the new wheels and tires! Nice catch on the idler pulley. Nice job on the plastic stitching. Maybe the disengaging the belt and getting off, the slack allowed it to jump off, or of course like you said the brakes may have been an issue. Nice video Zip!

    Good Job Zippo. That is pretty sad that bearing failed even though it is a consumer mower.

    The fluid level in the right-side hydro reservoir is actually close to correct level if you look at the "bars" close to the bottom on the side. There is a "full" mark and an "add" mark. Not really a big deal to have extra fluid though like the left side has in it. Just thought I would mention it though.

    I had no idea that they actually make a tip for a soldering iron to do this. I get by with a regular soldering tip but I want this! I can't seem to find just the tip(...) so I might have to make something.

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A piece of solid core 10 gauge wire hammered down on the end should do the trick. Did you search for Weller Soldering Iron Tips? I dunno. But any wire will work! Cheers again Brother! Zip~

      I'm super happy how Ruby is coming together. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I still want to service the rear end and go through the brakes as well as replace worn suspension and steering components. But since I first searched for replacement parts, prices have DOUBLED!!! Insanity! Cheers again my Friend! Zip~

    Good video one question since the front wheels don’t have grease fittings is there a way to lube them

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By taking it all apart is the only way to grease everything. The bearings are supposedly "Sealed", but as we saw on the "Sealed" idler pulley, that doesn't mean anything if it's not a quality bearing to begin with. Cheers! Zip~

    I call that modern John Deere not classic John Deere. Sorry Just expressing my thoughts.

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need to apologize my Good Friend! To me, any Deere will be a pain to work on in comparison to other makers. Are the Classic Deere's better? Absolutely! But to me they're still engineered to be over complicated. Not sure why. To me, simple is just fewer things that can go wrong. Cheers My Friend! Sean~

    Do you know if there's anyway to flush the hydro fluid in these? I have a weak left hydro in reverse. Thanks!

  • @heliarche
    @heliarche 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't have anything for brand loyalty. I'll use whatever does the job. That said, I'm not a fan of John Deere as of late. Mainly for how they deal with repairs and maintenance on the big agricultural stuff, but that idler pulley you swapped out is clear BS as well. Granted, it should have been greased, but to fail so drastically after 266 hours is pretty crap.

    Have a question for ya Zippo I have a snapper zero turn in, the yard cruser version with the joy stick steering, it has 2 hydros on all tech bullitins it takes Mobile 1 dte 26 hydraulic oil, I can only find it in 55gal drums for over 1500 dollars, question is what would you recommend, is there an alternative I could use, cause I'm not buying the 55gal drum that for damn sure, any help would be appreciated.

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shell, Chevron, Phillips 66, 76 Petroleum, Sunoco and a couple lesser known brands are Radcolube and Bluesky all make their version of the Mobile 1 DTE 26. I used the Radcolube, as I found it locally in a one gallon bottle. Good Luck! Zip~

    Did you ever install electric fuel pump on a lawn tractor?

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Many Tim. Low pressure pumps only though. 2 to 4 psi max on carbureted engines. If it's a Fuel injected Riding mower, then it depends on the rating the manufacturer specifies. Zip~
