      Got my first Kindle in 2017 and I've been using it ever since. It's completely curbed my phone use at night and I've learned and enjoyed so much more meaningful content instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media.
      Enjoy!

    My mum has a third gen kindle with the keyboard, she refuses to upgrade haha! Because she knows how to use the one she’s got. She’s read tons of books on it and the battery still lasts for ages even today.

      That's the beauty of Kindles; not having to upgrade as long as it works. If the battery life is still as good, it's a testament on how good the device is!

    I own a Kindle 4. And I never felt the need to upgrade for 9 years! But just last week it started to go senile on me - flipping pages on its own, and I finally forced myself to buy the generation 10. The battery still lasts for ages though, if it weren't for the buttons getting stuck and flipping the pages I wouldn't have upgraded.

    I pre-ordered mine, and it arrived on the day of its release. I have the 3rd generation Kindle Keyboard (very versatile with its 3G, MP3 playback abilities and text-to-speech - and, as far as my particular one is concerned, it is still going strong hardware-wise, though it occasionally suffers from indexing freeze) and I can say that the front light is easily why I decided to get it: there is simply no substitue for it (we need look no further for a proof than all clip-on LED lights and lighted ebook cases), with Kindle being this small, light and portable it literally means that it can be read anywhere and anytime - I love it.

      Do you find the lack of buttons good/bad? I had the keyboard and loved the buttons I’m worried I really won’t like the touch screen or keyboard on the touchscreen. Thanks.

    • @mk5346
      @mk5346 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calebwhite6173 I have to say that, as much as I love the KK, I've always thought its keyboard a bit user unfriendly, and in this regard touch screen is, in my opinion, much easier to use. Now, whether getting rid of physical page turning buttons was a good decision, is another matter. Personally, I like it, but I have to admit it sometimes makes single-handed operations a bit difficult (especially when lying down, with Kindle held up over my face - gravity and lack of buttons can make things awkward).

    • @calebwhite6173
      @calebwhite6173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mk5346 I guess my intention is to use it more of just a dictionary rather than a reader. I had the 3 awhile back and simply cannot remember too much of its use for the buttons. I guess I’m just hoping the screen response for the new one will not be bad while I am typing a word. I do have fond memories of staying up very late under the covers holding my phone lite in one hand and kindle in the other turning page by the buttons and they were very satisfying to press to turn the page. Thanks for getting back with me even over the years. Good roads and fair weather to you.

      @@c00Lify Hi! I've owned a Kindle for 9 years and if you love reading it is the best investment you could ever make. My gen 4 lasted me 9 years so I can definitely say it's a cheap long-lasting device. Only ordered a gen 10 this week because the buttons on my old one started to get stuck and flip pages on its own. You can carry LOADS of book in a kindle, I usually carry around 30 books with me all the time, all inside a small kindle device. It's perfect!

    I have a Kindle 4th Generation, 10 years, still going strong, one "scuff mark," near the screen, but otherwise perfect. I took it out of its OEM Leather Case to clean it the other day and the case broke!
    But, I have to say that I'm enjoying the experience of "riding bareback!" 😱
    If I were to upgrade, I'd definitely get the basic model and a case.
    Besides, it looks to me like the most recent model might be very fingerprint prone!

    • @shaunzhang733
      @shaunzhang733 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the Kindle 4th Generation as well, purchased in 2011.
      The battery is getting problematic, at the moment it seemed to be draining down to the point of needing to charge when the battery percentage goes down to less than 50% or so. I mostly kept my Wifi turned off on the device.
      You must have experienced something similar to what I experienced, so unless if you replaced the battery, the battery will eventually start to go problematic.

    • @kuntalbiswas6147
      @kuntalbiswas6147 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The paperwhite has a higher resolution screen (300 ppi compared to 167 ppi on this one), and a much nicer heft to it. If you find one for a similar price, I'd suggest you the paperwhite.

    • @ajwalker4416
      @ajwalker4416 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I had the 2018 Kindle and got the 2019 Paperwhite because of the light. Had the new 2019 Kindle been available, I would have saved a few dollars and gotten that instead of the Paperwhite. The resolution on the old base model Kindle is fine even for my old reading glasses-wearing eyes and I don't lay in the bath reading books so the waterproofing of the Paperwhite is superfluous to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • @anilia1030
      @anilia1030 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree with AJ Walker. I don’t go around reading while around water, so not my type. I was about to go return my entry kindle but I mean until I watched this video I’m convinced I don’t need the paper white kindle.

    • @ajwalker4416
      @ajwalker4416 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@anilia1030 Yes, the higher PPI is nice on the Paperwhite, but I found the original basic Kindle (pre-light) was perfectly readable even at the smallest font. I really had to have them side by side to notice the difference of the higher resolution. I'd suggest the new basic Kindle with light over the new Paperwhite personally. The average person won't see the resolution difference and you'd save a nice bit of money.

    • @thatmarchingarrow
      @thatmarchingarrow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If there's lots of images, it's relevant to mention that this one has a lower resolution (167 ppi, compared to the 300 ppi on a Kindle Paperwhite or Oasis), so depending on the level of detail that you need to be able to see, it might be better to go with the Paperwhite version. Also, just in case, Kindle displays are grey scale only, so if you need any colour you should probably stick to a tablet for now, probably lower the brightness and/or use a blue light filter to be a bit more easy on your eyes.

    Holding up 70 pounds in one hand is quite a feat of strength.
    Did you consider joining the World's Strongest Man competition?

      Sim. Voce decide quais os livros coloca no seu aparelho. É só comprar e baixar livros em portugues. Tem ate dicionario em portugues no proprio kindle se você precisar.

    Personally I use a tablet with the Kindle app on it. I can do more stuff with it and it costs about the same.

      A tablet's screen and kindle's screen are completely different, the kindle screen is an e-ink made to look like paper and it doesnt irritate the eye like a tablet, there is also the mobility and weight etc

      Tablet is not good for long periods of reading. Nothing beats e-ink for bookworms.

      I have mine on the beach and love it , won’t be able to read from a tablet as for the shiny screen .

      I understand your reasoning. i bought a Likebook Mars cause It, cause I don't want to be bound by only Kindle, but the differenze about an e-ink screen Is really a lot and the eyes really thanks a lot. But I use a e-ink screen android tablet with Kindle app

    "174gram finnish" what does that mean "nice and sharp" no it isnt

    • @markifi
      @markifi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess our eyes work differently@@dzevadbayraktar322 I have the kindle 3 from a few years back that uses the same display, and it's not sharp. This is not really a problem because you just enlarge the font anyway, but it's like wet newspaper. Not even as sharp as a 110 dpi LCD panel on this laptop I write on, with ClearType turned off. Blocky but sharp text on this one. But not on the base Kindle. But I do prefer it over the paperwhite, because I don't think e-readers should be sophisticated devices, and the kindle basic is much faster.

      Dude, are you familiar with this product line or just plain stupid? It's designed to reduce eyestrain and use e-ink technology so other than the LEDs, it uses little to no blue light.

      @@TheKaylem I think you're missing the point still, but I think in the nearest future we'll have E-ink displays that support color.
