The fact that it has color means it is targeting comic, but reading comic page in 7 inch is a pain. I wish it is 10.3 inch. Would be perfect for both pdf and comic.
Well I assume it’s because usb a ports are everywhere, they’re far more ubiquitous here than c. Like you take the Kindle to travel and every usb port on a bus, train etc in my country at least is going to be usb a
I'm going to guess that the reason they're including the USB-A to USB-C cables in the boxes are two-fold. First, they're cheaper, and they probably have an abundance of them laying around. Second, their little Amazon power USB-A chargers are still being sold. And instead of them making new ones, they can continue to crank out the old 5-watt chargers they have been making forever. So I see it as a cost-saver. Let's have it function with existing tech. It's also the lowest common denominator at this time. A lot of charging bricks, wall plugs, and computers still have a USB-A port most likely. It doesn't need to be blue to charge, just as long as it can deliver the 5-watt power supply to trickle charge it, which all USB-A ports can do, then it's more than sufficient.
Thank you for your kind words. I’m not picking up a grainy or hazy screen. But I have seen other reviewers mention something like it so I may simply not be sensitive to it.
Thanks for the review. Is there a significant improvement in term of reducing eye strain going from reading color books on iPad to reading one on kindle color soft?
Yeah, the pixel-peeping isn't a concern with my near-sightedness and presbyopia. So I won't be concerning myself with if one is less or more than another. The fact that I have an option for color is enough to differentiate Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition for me. The black and white is both 300dpi/ppi, and with the color due to the additional layer of color, it reduces it to 150ppi in those areas. But that's very on-par with the competitors out there, like BOOX, Kobo, etc.
On my last year paperwhite, black and white, I have to search up my comics individually. They are there, but they don't show up in a special comics section like they do on the cloud reader.
Thanks for the review Mark. The color seems like a nice feature but I do not read graphic novels. But seeing the book covers in color and changing the highlight color seems helpful. Does it cost significantly more and what happens to the battery life. Cheers
Very good comparison. I'm looking to upgrade from my battery dead Oasis and the coloursoft screen looks more whiter than the standard paperwhite that looks warm yellow. Is this correct or just youtube messing with the colour?
I think when you compare and contrast paperwhite classic to coloursoft you need to compare both 2024 models. Coloursoft looks fun. I just got a scribe for my older tired eyes simply for reading. But tempted by coloursoft.
It’s such a muted dull washed out colour compared to the OLED screens on modern phones and tablets that I really wouldn’t want a colour Kindle, I’ll stick to reading comics in physical or my iPad.
Funnily enough my Kindle Paperwhite 11th generation crashed/froze twice yesterday. It's the first time I've had to do a factory reset since owning it on its release. Suspect the new upgrade is responsible...

Oh wow! I thought we still needed to wait a few years after getting a color kindle! Thank you for the review!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for such a well thought answer! 🤩 My house and equipment is all USB-C so I’m a little biased.
I am curious to know if the screen on the Colorsoft is at all “hazy” or “grainy”? Thanks for such a solid review!
Thank you for your kind words.
I’m not picking up a grainy or hazy screen. But I have seen other reviewers mention something like it so I may simply not be sensitive to it.
@@buttermilkbrioche The so-called screen door effect is due to the color layer atop the black & white one. That makes it different, NOT inferior.
it is more hazy then paper white another reviewer said. doesn't look as white as paper white.

Ok so the Comixology thing is a pain from all accounts but doable. Good detailed unboxing, look forward to the review. 😊

Congratulations mate,enjoy.
Thanks 👍
I have the same issue not seeing all of my Comixology purchases on my kindle. Anyone know a fix for this?
Very good comparison. I'm looking to upgrade from my battery dead Oasis and the coloursoft screen looks more whiter than the standard paperwhite that looks warm yellow. Is this correct or just youtube messing with the colour?

That’s fair.
Your kindle is mad at you for buying the colorsoft! Lol
😆
😂😂😂
Very good review!🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Great review
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
Be interested to compare with the new Paperlike? Also, would you think the colorsoft wort it if you don’t read comics? Thanks.
Yeah, I agree a more up-to-date model comparison would be better.
I hope I can get my Comixology library on the device as this was my hope.
Software version in the UK after the update?
Think I will be skipping this one. I will hopefully be able to get the new paperwhites soon.
If you’re not overly hyped about the colour I think that is an absolutely fair enough decision to make.
I use the USB cable it comes with. If it was any other type, I couldn't use it with the mains charger.
USB A to C to connect to your PC, to sideload books.
Not entirely sure that’s what Amazon had in mind! 😆
There is only a 32GB Signature Edition in Black.
Gotcha. Didn’t expect to see that written on the box.
I can’t wait for this to be released in Australia! Thanks for the review. Super excited 🤪
The difference in clarity is supposed to be most pronounced when not using the front light.
I shall endeavour to check all that out before my next vid. Thanks for the tip! 🤩
Obviously, most people have usb-a chargers rather than usb-c so it makes sense to ship usb-a cables and no one needs yet another charger!
Do you have any discolouring on the bottom? Not that i see any, but it has been reported
Yes. After playing around with it more I definitely see a slight ‘yellowing’ at the bottom and a little on the right side.
Glad you mentioned this because I’m actually talking to customer support right now about discoloration along the bottom of my screen.
At least Kindle now has USb c - MY OASIS, which I love, is micro usb.
That was a big negative from the Oasis.
Kindle has had USB-C for 3 years now.

Strange eh? 😫
