Just in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, you can't stock watercolor paper, as the sizing will deteriorate making the paper improper for watercolors (basically the paper will absorb the water too fast, making weird marks around the pigments) so if you have high quality paper, use it. Replace it when you're out of stock (or close to being out of stock).

Hello there... iam a full time professional artist and Bookbinder and I always have random art videos playing on my monitors in my art studio when ever iam in here working. Just a tip, always spend more on 100% cotton paper... then the paints, if you are on a tight budget. Just make the switch to cotton and work out what brand you like best... because if you keep using cheap wood pulp papers to get better, than switch to 100% cotton... well it's like learning and progressing ALL OVER AGAIN. Cotton and wood pulp papers are sooooo different and if you keep using cheaper paper... you will get so used to it, that you will struggle with switching to cotton. I make my own line of goatskin leather bound watercolor sketchbooks with the choice of Arches, Saunders Waterford or Fabriano Artistico... and I use Saunders Waterford for my artwork. If you reside in Europe, Saunders Waterford is cheaper there and better than Arches IMO. Don't buy pads or blocks either!! They are EXTREMELY over priced... buy the large imperial sheets 22" × 30" sheets and cut or rip them to size... or what I do, I buy the large industrial rolls of watercolor papers. I know that sounds crazy for an artist that doesn't make books like I do... or paint everyday, but it's sooooo much cheaper than buying pads or blocks. A block of Arches cold press 300 gsm 12 × 16" runs for around 80$ usd. There are only 20 sheets in that block.... now I buy a roll of Arched cold press 300 gsm for $ 265 usd and that roll is literally 46" wide by 10 YARDS... THATS 30 FOOT OF PAPER!!! so a Arches block is about 90% less the size of that roll... but yet... almost 1/3 the price. That's insane!! Lol the imperial large sheets of that paper here in the US go for around 4$... and that is almost the size of 4 of those sheets in that block. Blocks and pads are rip offs... just some food for thought lol.. ohhhh and the Saunders Waterford roll of their bright white, 300 gsm cold press paper goes for around 400$ usd .... but that roll is 64" wide and alittle short of 13 yards long. So you buy 1 roll and you have more than enough paper to waste, practice, burn or make art on for an extremely long time. Hope you have a good one and sorry for any typos... iam in the middle of working lol 😆

P.S ‘Good Enough’ art is fake because there is no such thing as ‘Good Enough’ to our brains our art will never be ‘Good Enough’ for the fancy art supply.

I just found your channel now as apparently some of your videos have been linked to recommendations of mine :) and I got hooked! New subscriber here. Love your enthusiasm and your personality! I can totally relate to “having a problem” I have a big pile of sketchbooks, some started, others not… I also suffer from “when I’m good enough” syndrome, but I’m slowly finding ways to get over that. In terms of paper, what helped me to break the cycle was buying lose sheets and cut them in small pieces, it’s less pressure than the block and less expensive too. Ah, and if I I don’t like the painting I use the other side! My favourite supplies from your haul were the stay wet palette (I have one too) and the ceramic palette :)

@@SketchesnScrubs Hi! Thanks very much for your reply :) I still haven't decorated my Etchr sketchbook covers but I must get around to doing it. Not only do they get quite dirty but the material does tend to pick up bits of lint and stuff. It all just sticks to it. A coat of gesso and then some gouache or acrylic might do it but I'm just concerned the cover would feel tacky or sticky. Perhaps just a coat of gesso might do the trick? No idea really as I only ever paint with watercolours and haven't a clue if it'd work. Do you think you'll decorate your covers? If you do I'd really be interested to see what you do:)

I think airtight palette for gouache is essential. I'm still new to gouache paint but I don't seem to like it very much unlike watercolor? Maybe because I put them on a regular palette, so they dried up and cracked. Or maybe because I use such cheap gouache (I use miya himi but in tube, not the jelly one). Sadly they don't perform really well once they cracked😭💔 I haven't touched my gouache since then, I got traumatized lol

@@SketchesnScrubs pffffft I’m almost embarrassed to say I bought multiple times last week! I was able to stop myself from making a Mossery purchase. But I still got tooo much hyped up stuff. I got the Jackson’s x Schmincke Supergranulation “Haze,” I 💗 Schmincke and here in the NL Schmincke is cheap compared to Jackson’s (even when Jackson’s has a Schmincke sale). And there are sales on the paints over here, at least 1x per year, which make the Schmincke paints even cheaper 🙈 So yh I definitely fell for the super granulation hype. I got some of the other super granulation colors when they were on sale at Van Beek, a Dutch art (web)store in October. Also the airtight palettes, I am taking them to Suriname 🇸🇷 when I visit my parents (hopefully, if Rona let’s me). The wells are big, so I was thinking of filling them with my most used colors, so I don’t have to worry about running out during my trip.
You know how almost everybody, and their momma, on YT uses the Silver Brush Black Velvet? Jackson’s has a nice travel brush set of those in a large etui (pouch?). It was not on sale, but I told myself the exchange rate is really in my favor now (it had dropped like 2 or 3 euros 🙃 🤣
And, then, I bought at Boesner, which is a German online store, they have the lil’ Raphael travel brush set with the nice bamboo rol mat currently on sale for just €20 (and change).
And at Gerstaecker, which is a German franchise art store chain (they also have it in the uk, I think under a slightly different name, but I forget what), I bought the lil Etchr 19 wells palette. Totally fell for the hype, but it’s cute though. That sale ends in January so I might get 1 more.
OMG I got a couple of art books by artists, that I saw ppl doing flip troughs about (so I got some of the 3dtotal Art of … books). Like 4 or 5 I’m still waiting to receive them.
I was on Heikala’s webstore and got 2 prints, some of the sets of colored inks, 2 brushes for the inks, and … and this is the only purchase I regret: a CARDBOARD pencil case 🤡 I didn’t realize it was cardboard, it looked like faux leather in her website. And it came without any protection sleeve or anything, so I received it slightly damaged. So, now I’m debating on whether I should complain about it. I probably will, because really I’m disappointed.

You are absolutely adorable! I'm so glad I've found your channel ☺️ Liked and subbed!
Creating Cute Art is such a sweetheart, she's definitely convinced me to pick up a few of those little pallets as well, lol! Have you ever tried the SUI gouache? I found it on Amazon and love it. That and Holbein Acryla gouache are my favorite.
Oh and art supplies are the new Pokemon, gotta collect 'em ALL!!!!

So relatable when it comes to more expensive art supplies and actually being scared to use them. 🤣 At home, I have so many things I wanna use but also put away for when I am "better" at art. I am quite interested in the airtight container that you got, I have seen them before and think they would be really helpful for me as I would love to start experimenting with gouache but I dislike having to use it from the tubes as I feel I'm wasting paint.
Also, I really like that you add in the "bloopers" at the end, to me, it makes you more "real" and relatable, not too polished if that makes sense? I make it a rule to watch two videos of a channel before deciding to follow or not, and you made me laugh and enjoy myself, it felt relatable and relaxing enough to sketch along while enjoying your content. So I decided on describing, thank you for sharing your wonderful content!

I started with coloured pencils, then moved onto acrylics, then gouache, watercolour and oil pastels. I've never got on well with soft chalk pastels too much dust for me. The gouache was a middle step before getting into watercolour and I haven't shown my gouache supplies enough love lately. I love to experiment with different media paper. Another great paper is Hahnemuhle, you can terminate Jackson's and they have their own UK website. Another great online websit is Rosemary and Co for brushes. One other paint you should give a go is buff titanium, it can mute colours and be very useful. Didn't mean to ramble on so much just enjoyed sharing information with you.

Honestly, what is it about having pretty art supplies that is sooo addictive! Yeah! I love hauls! I was very good and did not buy anything from Jackson’s this black Friday (primarily because I spent too much money on art supplies else where - but they were all small business artists purchases). I felt like I was hanging out with a girlfriend, here drinking my coffee, and you were sharing your things.
LOL! You’re like a little kid with the gouache pallet/water cup.
    Makeup artist -LMAO!
    Spray bottles are absolutely necessary.
Please use your 100% cotton paper. I am going to start asking you whether you are using your cotton paper from now on. Sarah Burns did a video comparison of different cotton papers, as a patter of fact. You should check it out.
Etchr has 3 levels of paper sketchbooks - all are cotton. I think the best level is actually Fabriano Aquarelle which is absolutely wonderful.
I am addicted to watercolor pallets. I’ve recently been spending way too much money on hand made artist pallets. I just bought one from an artist in Seattle, Washington - Pottery by Elena. She was having a Black Friday special and I bought Christmas presents.
    Thanks for sharing!

So in addition to the pallet I bought, I also got one of her pie plates (my husband loves to cook and bake) and this cute ceramic fruit basket I thought would look lovely on a cheese and fruit board for entertaining.
With regards to my cards, I have finished 54 and 4 more are on my painting board. I make 4 at a time, using 26x36 cm paper, taped into four. Cut down into 4, each card fits into an A7 sized envelope perfectly. I am using Arches CP because it requires 2 washes, sometimes 3 but I try to avoid the third because that’s a lot of water, even for Arches. I use the pad which is more economical than the block, and just tape the sheet onto a foam board. I’ve been experimenting with my different brushes and am learning tons how each type of bristle and brand and size holds water. BTW, my inspiration is Harriet de Winton’s Starry Night Christmas card video she did a month ago. I will post a picture on IG after I send them out and tag you so you don’t miss it. LOL!
