    The best way to look at sales is seeing that every call will pay you. 500 calls for a $10k commission is $20 for every call you make.

    I hate how much real estate feels like multi level marketing. “Once you get your license tell all your friends and tell them to tell all their friends” feels so scammy to me

    • @freedomagentswithmarcbrenn1297
      @freedomagentswithmarcbrenn1297  ปีที่แล้ว +49

      That's not multi-level marketing Doug, that's sales. Your in sales. Here's a framework that may help - Assuming you intend to do a better job than the average agent, if your friends and family end up hiring someone else because they didn't know you were an agent, you really did them a disservice.

    • @shell-bell614
      @shell-bell614 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree, I didn't realize how bad it was until I got my license. The biggest real estate companies are multi-level marketing businesses out for themselves. After 2 years of seeing through the hype & being taken advantage of, I realize being a real estate agent is no different than selling Marry K, used cars, or going door to door selling cleaners.
      They say 20% of agents do all the business... That's because the majority of the 20% send the 80% up the river on a wild goose chase. 😜
      This business is not for the faint of heart. It's very difficult to find honest people who have good intentions.

    • @dougwafer1564
      @dougwafer1564 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@shell-bell614 ya it’s not like most sales jobs because you are trying to convince people to buy or sell A HOUSE, which is the largest purchase or sale most people will ever make. So trying to talk someone into doing it is not only much more difficult, it’s almost unethical

    • @shell-bell614
      @shell-bell614 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Doug Wafer I was referring to getting clients/costumes. Not high-pressure sales tactics. I would never pressure someone into buying or selling a home.

    • @dougwafer1564
      @dougwafer1564 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shell-bell614 I wasn’t accusing you just adding to the conversation of course there are completely ethical agents and I’m sure you’re one of them! This is just not the type of sales I personally want to pursue

    Wow. This video inspired me. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I just passed my state exam a few days ago, and had a meeting with a local brokerage. After the meeting, I felt a little defeated. Maybe I’m naive, but I really had no idea that real estate agents had to generate their own leads. It felt overwhelming. I am also a Redfin agent and worked as an independent contractor with one of the biggest firms in Annapolis, MD. Lynn is exactly right! I would much rather be working hard on the leads we get from Redfin- which are scrubbed hard and qualified leads- than spinning my wheels and spending money on chasing clients who may be talking to 2-5 agents, seeing who is going to give them the best deal. Lynn and I work in the same region and we are both well liked and respected by other agents in the industry, because we are successful, work hard and top agents in Redfin! Let the haters keep on hating. They are missing out on things they don’t know. I love Redfin and am very happy to work for such an amazing model. Times change and so do business models. Look at what Expedia did to the travel industry and Uber to taxi companies. Thanks Lynn for sharing your Truth!
