Tim was on Grand Cayman island, and Peter was home in Oregon. This song has an ancient vibe, with chords sounding like you were in an ancient monastery. That last note was a G#1, and yes, he can go a lot lower, like a B0.
We waited for that last note too, all staring at you for your reaction. Tim's bass shakes your seat in concert. He has a 5 plus octave range and a wicked sense of humor.... just go on down the rabbithole!
When you said "Where's that low note I was promised?" I started laughing & thinking "Hold on to your britches & watching your face. I knew it was coming & I'm still always surprised!!!
Peter is a Master at his layering and yes, he is layering Tims voice with his own through out this song also. Peter and Time did Bridge Over Troubled Water together.. Check it out.. Go back and listen to this one ( Misty Mt ) carefully and you'll hear Tims...
Great reaction! Peter Hollens voice is so haunting. And omg Tim's voice rattles your bones! Together they are soothing. Thank you for this reaction! You should listen to Snowglobe by Homefree. Tim cowrote it and it showcases Tim in the lead. Thanks again. Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!
😂😂😂 Sooo glad you loved Tim’s low note!! This is one of my favorites from Tim and Peter!! Peter and Tim are friends, and they collaborate on a few songs as does Home Free and Peter. Sooo happy to see another Home Free fan! You’ll be a Home Fry soon ♥️
Nope, this is not his lowest though! He went lower on Home Free’s Folsom Prison Blues and no, that’s not even his lowest yet then! In fact, he sings lower and lower each year lol!
You definitely need to check out Folsom Prison Blues and The Sea Shanty Medley. Tim is in the background on the Sea Shanty Medley, but his bass is just incredible there.
Welcome to the rabbit hole down which you have fallen. Your life will never be the same. World class musicianship. Hamonic genius, vocal ranges that will boggle your mind. Creativity that is at once touching and then again hilarious. Welcome to Home Free.
Tim and Peter sang together years ago with the group Ball in the House. The acapella community is not huge, and many of the top singers know, or have worked together before. These two did a wonderful album of legendary duets. The blend is so good!
So the first two songs I heard from Tim Foust were this one and Man of Constant Sorrow as well.....and I thought that he was going to come through the screen to kill me lol. Then I watched their All About That Bass cover.....and I was amazed lol. Def should go check that one out! It really shows off his personality. Thanks for the great reactions! Keep em coming!! (And Home Free, Voiceplay, and PTX!)
He is so intense in this video! It took me awhile to realize he doesn't blink. You don't know wether to stare back or look away. I agree with you, as a group, Home Free are so entertaining!
The staring shots on Man of Constant Sorrow started the theme from Deliverance playing in my head. Pretty laughable now that I've seen how goofy he can be.
If you really want some Tim low notes, then "Honey I'm good" is the perfect song. Rob sings the lead and Chris was with them. But that rumbling bass thou.
Hahaha I LOVED your reaction!!! Dragon growl and he shook the cam, not an affect. Try "Ring of Fire" I prefer the Sing Off performance, it's live! But others also like the official video.
Tim does several with Peter Hollens... Sound of Silence, Fire and Rain. Peter also did this by himself and it's great .He was on the Sing-Off when Home Free won and Adam Chance was also in that competition singing bass with Street Corner Symphony. I think that they met Darren Rust at the Sing Off also.
Tim and Peter were in an Acapella group together many, many years ago. Their voices blend so well that they've continued to work together as their careers have progressed. They have quite a few videos together and with all of Home Free.
I had to watch again... and it was still fun to watch you react! If you want to hear Tim's incredible range, react to Home Free's Mayday. You'll be shocked. And there's a surprise from Adam Chance, too!
4:20 "I am not familiar with Peter Hollens." I get the feeling that is about to change. ;) He has lots of good things out there, including more collabs with members of Home Free and the group as a whole.
Hahaha! Your eyeballs at the end there! Also I am so happy you enjoyed this. I love Peter Hollens....he has done sooooo much music and he has linked up with many other creators as well. I kinda hope you check out some of his other stuff as well. Watching you react was awesome 😄
I'm glad you liked it so much. After a stressful day I listen to this song loud. Gone through 2 sets of speakers, mmm maybe I should turn down the volume. 😏😏😏
There’s a video that’s taken from a live performance where Tim blows the speaker with his bass note in “Your Man.” This was not the only blown speaker thus far! The song “Snow Globe” shows more it his range too. ‘Honey I’m Good”is another good one to hear Tim’s bass
Peter Hollen is in Washington or Oregon and Tim Foust is in the Caribbean at this time I’m Speechless Yes Tim Shakes your soul and shakes you speakers ❤️❤️🤯🤯
"...in my nightmares and dreams at the same time". What a great line! 😂 I think Tim and Peter used to sing in a group together years ago; years before Tim joined HF and years before Peter went solo. Fun reaction! Thx!
Peter is singing ALL the high notes. He layers them and is known for this. He invites a lot of groups or individuals to sing with him. If you like cathedral sounds listen to home free sing Oh Holy night.
Tim's last note was a G1. During a recent interview Tim says his lowest note is A1 but some think he has hit an A0 on a couple of video's showing Tim range it shows him hiting A0
Watching you go down this rabbit hole is gonna be fun.. The look on your face sometimes is priceless. The camera shook because of the low note. Tim can actually bust speakers, he's done it more than once. reminder MADAY still off limits. Around 7/8 videos in first to appreciate the surprise.
I'm still a year behind on your reactions but I am so happy to find you! And the fact you have found these extremely talented people! God has blessed us all
🤣As always, that last note creates a disconnect between your brain and your mouth! So many people have been speechless at the end! 🤣 A Home Free song with simply haunting harmonies is Helplessly Hoping! I cuss every time I watch it because it's too freakin short! They make you want so much more! A couple great collaborations are American Pie with the orginal artist Don McClean, Children Go Where I Send Thee with Kenny Rogers, Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys, God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood and the Airforce Band. There are other collabs, but it's absolutely stunning how these guys have such chemistry with others.
Honestly, whether either be performing together or with others --- Amazing blend and harmonies. Not just Tim or Peter --- any (one... or 2 - or 3, or ****) of Home Free as well
Tim says his lowest note he sings in the lowest note on the piano, he can go lower than the piano...and count up 5 octive! And he is so nice and funny too.this is all those two voices layered on top of each other. I think Peter said it was 125 layers.
In interviews, Tim says he has never found his lowest note. Geoff, Avi and Tim have all worked together on range. If you really want to see Tim’s range, do try Your Man, especially the Illinois concert in 2015, to see both high and low.
Peter was also on The Sing Off with the Oregon University a capella group, which he founded. He has also performed with Avi from Pentatonix. Check out their Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair.
Loving the Tom MacDonald stuff & I'm looking forward to following your journey down the a Capella rabbit Hole! Home Free sang Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys and the arrangement was done by Geoff Castellucci from voiceplay! Just one of many worth reacting to! Love your reaction/breakdown
The original that Peter recorded for his album was all done by Peter, and it's not bad. Peter would record the bass right after waking up before even talking or anything so it would get low, but Tim just makes even deeper bass notes without a sweat. He definitely brings another level to the song. (Peter did an entire album of Hobbit/LotR songs.) Peter does a lot of collabs with various artists. Another favorite of mine is Peter with Avi, formerly of Pentaonix, doing an old, old folk song, Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair. Avi's parts in it are just ....
Home Free and VoicePlay were in the same Sing Off. VoicePlay was constituted differently (only three of the original group is left), and they lost. I've read that Tim gave Geoff some tips on singing low.
Peter Hollens is a master arranger and vocal layer magician. He also happens to have a pure angelic voice and a massive range as well. He has his own TH-cam channel where he does full acapella arrangements by layering himself or in collab with others like this one. He has collaborated with Home Free many times and they always sound amazing together. He's also collabed with just Tim on other things (Bridge Over Troubled Water) and with Avi from Pentatonix (Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair). Since you love acapella, I would add Peter to your list of repertoires to listen to.
Peter Hollens has done several collaborations with Tim and with Home Free. You should check out their collaboration (with fans as a backup chorus) of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. “ Peter is brilliant at arranging and layering, among other things. Misty Mountains has 120 voice over layers, and it’s all just the 2 of them. Peter can go from baritone to high tenor. And Tim can go darn near anywhere he wants.
Yes he can go lower. Check out Home Free cover of Sold by John Michael Montgomery. Pay attention to Tim's underlying bass line. He hits an A1. This was a G#. Tim can go as low as A5.
Soooo many great songs from Home Free to choose from. Here's a few recommendations: Ring of Fire (guest starring Avi), Do You Hear What I Hear, End of the Road, In the Blood, Castle on the Hill (they use a looper), Hillbilly Bone, and if you want to laugh, The Butts Remix. Just the tip of the iceberg, but a jumping off point for you. Oh, and once you get a feel for Tim's vocal range, check out Mayday for a surprise.
From what I understand that last nite was a G#1. Tim has gone as low as G0. There are several videos of just Tim hitting the low notes. Also videos demonstrating Tim's range from low to high. On shows him having a 5- 6 octive range from G0-A5 I believe it was.
ok. if you want Tim's octave range, watch "Ring Of Fire". not only the video with Avi Kaplan, but the clip of Home Free's performance of it on "The Sing-off". MIND BLOWN!!!!
If you're EVER, ANYWHERE and someone calls you out with THAT voice, and you turn to see a face and eyes with the intensity that Tim is showing ...... excuse yourself and LEAVE!!!!!
You might be ready for the Home Free cover of Mayday. It has a few surprises in it. Another really fun song is Hillbilly Bone. Give that one a shot too. :)
The a cappella community is actually very interconnected. Peter was on “The Sing Off” ( a TV a cappella competition show, think American Idol for exclusively a cappella groups) while in a group called “On the Rocks”. It was also the season Pentatonix was on and got their start by winning. The season after that Home Free was on it as well and won, which was kinda their big break. If you want a fun little side trail, every episode is here on TH-cam. The best quality and best organized ones are from mrduckbear11. I had a lot of fun binge watching all the seasons there.
Greetings from a danish fry / new sub , just a friendly warning when you say you like our guys , the fries will come running and we are a very loyal bunch , now that you THINK you know Tim please check out Home Free´s cover --Mayday . It´s the one we fries call the MINDBLOWER
Figured you would love this one. Peter Hollens is great. If you want to see Tim's range you should play Mayday. This is a song that I would usually suggest a reactor gets a few songs under there belt before reacting.
Tim is a dwarf bass and his voice has the effect of crumbling the earth around him and Peter is an Elf bard, and with his voice can make you visit the forest of Lothlorien (from LOTR) and see Galadriel
Yep Tim can get down in the dirt with his low notes. After you hear HF Ring of Fire with Avi,..try HF's... Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget ... written by Tim Just one more suggestion (for now ;) . When you have time... Home Free...Your Man Live...It is just the one song, hilarious, fun and you will hear Tim go dragon. Thanks for a great reaction.
If you still haven’t listened to any Peter Hollens, and you liked Misty Mountains, check out his “Sky Rim Theme “. Peter is known for multi-track harmonies with himself. The Sky Rim Theme uses 120 tracks of him, with one track of Lindsey Sterling’ violin. Also “The Parting Glass”. He starts by himself and gradually builds to 5 part harmony, them fades himself out. (Neat video)
That face when Tim hits the low note... priceless
You had the same reaction as so many others who have never really heard Tim's low notes, speachless, and I love it. Tim is special believe me.
That's probably one of the only reasons I come to people who do reactions to this. Haha
He can blow out speakers, Tim that is
Tim was on Grand Cayman island, and Peter was home in Oregon. This song has an ancient vibe, with chords sounding like you were in an ancient monastery. That last note was a G#1, and yes, he can go a lot lower, like a B0.
Thinking of his B0 being 9 semitones lower than this G#1 is mind-blowing, when put into that perspective, lol.
Grand Cayman, yes, a place called Hell
If you want low, check out the video of Tim blowing up the speakers with a low note at a live concert in Morrison Illinois...
seconded!
We waited for that last note too, all staring at you for your reaction. Tim's bass shakes your seat in concert. He has a 5 plus octave range and a wicked sense of humor.... just go on down the rabbithole!

It was priceless dont ya think lol
The brain fart at the end of the song, no words just sounds. PRICELESS.
“Where’s the low note I was promised?”
Me: Just wait …
Tim hits The Note.
“What?! What was that?!”
Me: You asked for it!
@@DennisKovacich 😂 he sure did.
Listening to Tim’s voice, is like taking a sip of fine whisky and feeling the heat burn through you slowly.
Peter has also done a few collabs with all of Home Free. My favorite is Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Hauntingly beautiful! Perfect description!
Oh this is gonna be fun!
This physically takes you on a journey. You hear it, but your whole being is present for the trip.
Peter is a Master at his layering and yes, he is layering Tims voice with his own through out this song also. Peter and Time did Bridge Over Troubled Water together.. Check it out.. Go back and listen to this one ( Misty Mt ) carefully and you'll hear Tims...

That's what basses do - improve through age . . .

He goes from serious and kinda creepy here, to twerking in that one XD
The staring shots on Man of Constant Sorrow started the theme from Deliverance playing in my head. Pretty laughable now that I've seen how goofy he can be.
It’s not just how low he went but how long he held it.

4:20 "I am not familiar with Peter Hollens." I get the feeling that is about to change. ;) He has lots of good things out there, including more collabs with members of Home Free and the group as a whole.
yes, it is Peter Hollens that is doing the chorus by layering his voices. he has quite the range, going from a light bass to tenor.
He is definitely a unique baritenor, who can do some bass with a lighter vocal weight. Love Peter's voice.
Check out Peter Hollens doing Shenandoah. All voices are his and it's amazing.
Tim calls his last note the dragons breath
You need to watch the live video when Tim's lowest note blew the speakers singing Your Man by Josh Turner.
Hahaha! Your eyeballs at the end there!

Folsom prison blues is a great song where Tim goes low as well. And awesome cover of a Johnny Cash song.

Listen to Geoff Castellucci doing 16 Tons, Country Roads, and Blackbird. He goes low, he goes high and he goes in-between!
Yep. Tim's vocal agility and range are off the chain. The cool thing is he is the kind of Texas boy who still blushes when he gets a complement.
I know. I thought he would never stop blushing around Jewel. How cute was that!

Peter and Hollens and Avi Kaplan Black is the Colour is beautiful too. Home Free Guilty Pleasures and All About that Bass outtakes show their humour.
I love Tim's dragon breath voice

For another good Peter Hollins moment, I'd suggest his cover of "I See Fire."
Foust, like the opera.
Believe it or not, some of those high notes in the harmony are actually Tim, whose range extends from sub harmonic to tenor 1
