Coming from a racer, its CRAZY important to be comfortable in the seat for focus and endurance. A tiny issues instantly turn in to a cramp or an annoying distraction a minute in to the race.
I recently made brackets for recaro CS sportster seats in my e46 daily. I used 5mm thick steel plate and 12.9 grade steel hardware. I adapted universal twin lock slider's which I widened by 4 inches and then widened the slider release handle to fit. Then used the oem recaro backers (seats were from a megane rs) which I then cut and welded and modded to fit into the aftermarket sliders. It was a hell of a job. But I got them exactly how I wanted them. I then upholstered the slider handles to match the seat upholstery. Painted the brackets black and 3d printed some spike caps to cover any exposed hardware. I must say though the work really paid off as my car now feels like it's more suited to me. It looks miles better and more modern. Granted not the track focus as in the video but just because you're not on track dosent mean u can have nice looking, comfortable and safe seating. An often overlooked area of modified street cars

The biggest issue I have with the e36 platform is the steering wheel position. It's way too high for the way I like to drive but it's not bad enough that it makes me not want to drive the car. I still think the next money pit car should be something carbureted from the 70s or 80s. Can include some unique episodes on how to adjust the timing by first figuring out which piston is the #1 piston, changing breaks (perhaps drum breaks?), and (maybe near the end of the build) converting the carb to a fuel injection system, maybe installing a supercharger after that. Upgrading the cooling system, installing spreader bars. Idk maybe this can be a drag race build, and you can compare 1/4 mile times. Could do an engine swap or something but could also see just how fast you can make a small block 350 engine go. Some more mods could be: -changing piston type (flat top perhaps) -stock manifold to highrise -changing the cam in the engine -headers (been done already but needed for the air flow) I almost think a whole mini-series could be made that's just mods to the engine.

so happy you made this series with the e36! i got one for a drift missile last year so i wonder if any of these will help with installs. already did these but maybe the next videos 😏
You can "shim" your steering column down using spacers to a more usable range. This may change the position of where your elbows land so it might be a good idea to do it before you put in the cage.
If that e36 didnt come with a tilt steering column, you can add a couple spacers where the whole column bolts up. you may have to use longer bolts. I had a 318i that had no tilt and thats how I lowered the column a few inches so it didnt feel like driving a school bus.

*Other safety things you should install!* 1. Demolition derby style structural bracing, whatever that's actually called. (Does a different job from a rollcage, but should still be compatible.) 2. If you replace the tail lights, please make sure that the turn signals on them stay Amber. (See: _The Confusing Ambiguity of North American Turn Signals,_ a video by Technology Connections.) 3. HANS device to protect your neck. 4. Polyborbornene mountings for all of the interior stuff to help dampen strong vibrations. This should help to minimize injury and fatigue. 5. Eventually upgrade your harness to a 6-point harness with inflatable belts. 6. Get some wireless tire pressure sensors, preferably the kind that replace your tire valve caps and connect wirelessly to a dashboard display. 7. Put some Multi-Seal in your tires (not Slime or Fix-a-Flat, those are actually pretty crappy). That should help a lot with sealing punctures as they happen. 8. Install peristaltic pumps in your tires so that the wheel movement will automatically regulate the tire pressure. 9. An interior quality sensor, to automatically warn you when air quality in the cabin is getting poor.

*Other safety things you should install!*
1. Demolition derby style structural bracing, whatever that's actually called. (Does a different job from a rollcage, but should still be compatible.)
2. If you replace the tail lights, please make sure that the turn signals on them stay Amber. (See: _The Confusing Ambiguity of North American Turn Signals,_ a video by Technology Connections.)
