This is so true for me. Worked in an office for 6 years and it was majority women, about 21/22, and about 8 men including me. It was fun and we had freedom since the supervisor hated his job and always left early. But it got bad when flirtation happened because the jealousy followed. And yes when women are the majority in the situation, they will fight over the men just like how men would if the roles were reversed. It was flattering but also a disaster at the end of the day
Yup, I've been there. As a married female, working in male dominated fields, I saw men get jealous and hateful too. The few females always became a target for the men to see who could get with her. The women that like the flirting will be such bitches to the other women, not realizing being easy to bang doesn't make them top dog, it makes them look stupid.
If that's how you feel about working with woman than you are a weak man who is not centered. I get it's a joke but some jokes hold truth and it seems this particular joke has people quoting it as if it's true and ground breaking.
I think it is not just women, men could potentially create drama too. At the end of the day it just depends on the person and their personality, but I see what you are saying.

bodd boward Not necessarily. Lots of people don’t use full grammar when texting or talking online, and when they do it’s with the intent of showing seriousness or that they’re pissed off
@bodd boward When it comes to texting and online conversations the way you write is as important as what you write. When it comes to conversations with friends i deliberately break 'proper' grammar to express emotion.
Dude's listening too carefully to what she's saying lol, shows he has much experience with interacting with women. Must be from home with his wife and daughters
Each of these JRE clips I try to determine how high Joe is. Here he seems medium high. A little slow and slurs here and there. Goes off on a "jawless" surgery tangent. Yeah, medium high.
I don't understand why people assume someone's high or stoned or anything else related to substance when they speak, behave or produce art that is a bit on the fringe. Like people are just like that sometimes, doesn't mean they took something.
30 years in the entertainment industry and I have seen with my own eyes that some men are relieved when a woman joins the "team". There are men that get sick of looking and dealing with other men all day long, week after week, year after year. There are variations in personalities among men. Some guys like being aggressive and fucking with each other talking shit, talking locker room. Not all guys like that or want to be around that. Some guys just want to do their job un harassed by other smart ass aggressive guys. No all women like to gossip, not all women want to analyze relationships to death, not all women like being in groups of other women. There is variation in personalities among women. That is what people mean when they say men and women are the same. There are stereotypes in both groups but there are also many individuals who do not fit anything like what Joe and Michelle were describing.
If anyone believe these two are speaking in generalities then they shouldn't be watching podcast and talk shows discussions. Also their talking specifically personality characteristics, when it comes to social and private it is vastly different between men and women. Also stereotypes are speaking about a majority meaning 60-90%.
I have worked in a female dominated field for over 15 years and have had no real issues. I will grant that it requires some basic boundaries that may not be as rigid as in a male dominated environment, but it's nothing burdensome or weird. But then I am currently married to someone I used to work with, but that relationship didn't develop until long after working together.
No, it's really weird when a workplace is completely imbalanced towards either sex. I've had that experience a couple times in my career: female-dominated environments are catty as hell and male-dominated are like being in middle school.
I've worked in men only jobs most of the time and it's never been like middle school. That's so alien to me it's like you made it up. I believe you just added that to balance out the catty as hell comment. Or maybe that's the vibe you bring so that's what you find, ever consider that?
100%, I'm a woman who has no problem working and friending either. In fact that's healthy and shows a normal level of emotional IQ. I've worked in mining, fishing and construction, business environments and retail at one point. People just need to grow the flock up, and appreciate what each of us bring to the table. It's not rocket science. 🤷🏼♀️
She’s soooooo right about this. Men can lift 45 pounds 28 times in a row much more quickly than I can, and most women can grow people in their bodies. We aren’t the SAME, although we absolutely should have equal rights.
Michelle Peacock I think it’s lazy to assume that there are large groups of people that believe men and women - insofar as the physical bodies of a female and male human - possess equal capabilities. People just want the balance to be a little more fair in regards to rights and privileges - is it not worth restricting men slightly in order to level the playing field? Depends on who you ask.
Only reason Joe has been so successful is his honesty during these podcasts. He is honest and doesnt mind disagreeing and is not afraid of sounding a certain way. He is not looking for apporoval and that has made him successful. Also means that almost everyone else is playing to a crowd.
Me and my wife are like that. It's great. It isn't weird. We can talk about old gfs and bfs or about anything really... we don't care. Been like it for ten years. Completely honest with each other and it is just normal. We do weird out other people with it when they are around us though. It is like they are made uncomfortable with how comfortable we are with each other.
It's weird seeing her talking like a reasonable person here. Her segments on other people's shows (Samantha Bee, Daily Show, etc.) are always super cringe.
Nooo i think she had great ideas. Her comfort zone is mean. The reason we al, hate her is the frequency of her voice. ... also picturing her ... a certain way... is better than all her jokes.
@ Extant Sanity you are right. That voice she uses is so fake, and it`s easy to tell. It`s not even cute at all. Her Jokes are pretty funny, but that fake voice ruins it for me.

Being a male in a workplace where 90% of the staff are women and the another 8% are " jawless" men is so weird, being 6ft 4 220 pound rugby player I'm constantly touched up by women staff, sexual comments are made and hot drinks made for me 24/7 (to this day I have never had to make my self a cup of coffee in my workplace) and I do enjoy this! BUT if I for one second indulged in the same behaviour as my female co-workers I know I would be sacked and made to be the villian, men working In the same working environment as women have to be sqeeky clean unlike there female Co workers.
Women don’t see how they overly sexualize men without thinking of the same consequences we face. Man makes comment: jail. Woman makes same comment: playful.
I'm one of two men on a floor full of older housewives. The first week I was here, the oldest coworker (who is retired now) told me "You'll run into a lot of drama here. It will be over the dumbest shit, and it'll get bad if you get caught up in it, being one of the only men here. If someone says or does anything, just stay quiet." Boy am I glad I took her advice.
I totally agree. I'm not saying it's right but I think it's as simple as imagining a baby rabbit offering to lick your toes.. And then imagine a bear offering to lick your toes... Same question, different reaction. Doesn't matter the bears intentions.
Too funny, cause I work in male dominated field. And 99% are great & respectful cause I conduct myself professionally, dress as a lady not like a man or thirsty girl.
I think part of the reason that it is "hard to sexually harass men" is because the Vast Majority of men do not use Harassment as a power play and tend to downplay when they are feeling harassed due to people seeing them as weak for not being able to handle that situation.
If someone (men or women) cant separate work and mating then they cant work together. Its normal to scope if you are new and single but not foever. I work with a guy that cant function when atractive women was in room. He was physically not able to work. He was fired in 8 months.

@Emma Madison Hey it is not necessary to be a low self-esteem man. A lot of men got nervous when a girl they like is around, it is not necessary to be a bad thing as well...More of the guys who are ultra-confident with women don't actually feel anything special about the woman and just trying to get into her pants, and they are confident cause they tried THIS thousand times. The fucked up is actually that women like you are in hurry to judge and even insult who is confident and who is not, and at the end of the day, they made sex with hundreds of strangers and still no serious relationship and still single.
I never really agreed with the "toxic" arguement for masculinity and femininity. What they describe as "toxic" just sounds like basic mental/behavioural/emotional disorders, that obviously vary with genders.
I feel the urge to have strong female bonds the older I get. I see the issues that often arise with sexual compatible persons being friends over long periods of time. It often gets too messy. I’ve been married 10 years, together 15, I would not want to put that idea in my Husband’s thoughts by even attempting it. I’d rather be happily married and a little bored at times over destroying the lives of many for my own need for excitement.
I taught high school, and most teachers, even at that level, most instructors are female. That said, most men teachers avoid "hanging out" with female faculty.

Kerry Thomas I taught high school and it’s very true. I always ate in my classroom to avoid toxic co-workers
@ After being an adult for awhile I'm increasingly more convinced high school should end before kids also become adults. Especially if their first workplace experience is what they see at school, cause the amount of toxicity from elementary to high school that I saw between staff was insane. It just got worse with each new environment.
Karen Aguilar yeah take your paranoia with co-workers and multiply that times 10. That’s how men feel when working with women. We constantly wonder when we’ll receive some sort of complaint.
The HR comment is so spot on. I just retired from a marketing/PR career in local government. My job was to speak. I got in so much trouble...and I'm respectful. Office suppression and social media aggression is a dangerous combination.
I've worked at places where they will fire you if you even go on a date with somebody else in the company even if there's no direct reports and you're in completely different departments. That was ridiculously extreme. But banning relationships between people who report to each other in some way is a bad idea and just opens a company to all sorts of legal hassles.
Allyssa Cinquina alot of females, yes. That’s why when you’re talking TO them they seem like the exception, but they’re really not. Vice versa for guys though, it’s not female specific
if she wants to survive in that climate she'd kind of have to be the same no? or just not have a lot of female friends, which she mentions are very needed
It's so ridiculous. Some guys can make leud and very suggestive comments in the workplace and nothing happens to them. I've been hit with an HR case for telling a female coworker that I was friends with that I liked her new hairstyle. Another time I got nearly fired for telling a female coworker that I liked her shoes, I had no interest in her, they were just really cool shoes. The biggest kicker for me was when my manager told me that I smiled too much and it made people feel uncomfortable. He literally told me not to smile so much. I was so shocked I didn't even ask if he could legally tell me to do that. So then I stopped smiling and got pulled into the office and told that I was too serious and it made people feel uncomfortable. I think the universe just doesn't want me to have a job.
Being a man and treating a wiman right takes work. It takes effort and it requires him to remain emotionally stable and grounded. Men are supposed to be gentleman. When men are working amongst other people doing a job there is already stress. Now when you bring a wman into the picture who has needs and a way she is supposed to he treated, the stress mounts. Both m and w have different stress responses that oppose one another and it become toxic, dark and sad very quickly. Relationships between m and f are sacred and fragile. But when a man is dealt with the responsibility of dealing with other men, then add multiple women to the situation it is a mess and burdensome. Stress does not do good things for either. Wmn absolutely deserve the ability to make their own money but we need to go back to having jobs typically made for each gndr. They are absolutely not meant to work together. I know that is clear to you but you are having trouble accepting it because you're worried about your survival. Please trust God and he will keep you safe and guide you to find purpose, meaning and safety.

I feel I have no jaw when I shave but everybody assures me I do. I'm just so used to having it "enhanced" it's kinda like a good looking woman who still feels the need to wear makeup despite her natural beauty.
I think when *the majority* of women say “We’re the same as men” , they say it to mean, “Our worth is the same as men”. And differentiating that between “we’re the same as men” is super important.
Alas, that distinction is rarely made, because a great many academic and mainstream feminists actually believe that there are no inherent differences between men and women, and that all gender differences are due to social conditioning, and that biology or hormones do not play a part.
Yep, and I do believe, on a behavioral level, men and women are more alike than they are different. Now, the differences are stark, and maybe that's why they're exaggerated, but in my experience both sexes are pretty predictable in the same ways. People act like we're separate species when we aren't. Humans are sexually dimorphic, but we're also all humans. Frankly, in my experience, the ones that treat men and women as separate species tend to have divorced parents. That's purely anecdotal, of course, but really paints a picture.
But by insinuating a need to clarify as much, we imply that there was even a question, and, perhaps more significantly, women stating this or asserting it sound as though they are trying to convince themselves out a of a complex, and it almost sounds like a nervously-repeated mantra, or a need for reassurance, or a concern that others don't see your worth, which means that it is not on a stable foundation, or that you are otherwise not sure of it!! ..just a morsel for thought..
To be quite honest, things were generally clicking along just fine for about 40 years regarding how men and women interacted in the office. If you asked a person out and they said no, you dropped it. If you persisted then you took it to HR. And it's been generations since claims of workplace harassment have not been taken seriously in the workplace, contrary to how those decades have been portrayed in popular culture. Thanks to that, we have an entire generation (or two) of people who honestly believe we were swatting women on the ass in the 80s like it was nothing and that women were regularly walking into police stations claiming they were raped and the police ignored them.
Michelle is the bomb! When I was a young lad in the Air Force, I frequently visited the girls dorm. Heard some very interesting conversations, and got harassed too. Loved every minute.
it's nice to listen to a woman that seems authentic also nice hearing from the female perspective, i enjoyed this clip it's a shame there are some durps in the comments
Only if you would sleep with literally every woman. I've had bosses who were fat and ugly try to hold my hand and shit. Get your fat fingers off me. Coincidentally the vice versa applies. If you are a good looking man you aren't harrassing them because THEY LIKE IT.
You speak with them playfully. You've just described what they're talking about. It's just how it is. People are either flirty or butthurt cuz they can't be playful/flirty. It's always like this in offices. Women use their feminity to attract the guys and make them do stuff for them. Then there's the guys who do stuff for them but never get to fuck them or flirt with the, so they're butthurt, but will jump at every occasion to help them, just for a little chat. Then there's the guys who flirt and fuck the women at Christmas parties and team buildings. That's the reality of the office space, and the amount of fucking and cheating at parties and teambuildings confirms it.
The same thing happens to women. When my husband makes me go hang with his friend I get stuck talking to the wife in a rambling conversation about our pets or something while our Husbands talk about their computers or whatever.
Taylor Craig Newbold Punctuation is important when conveying a message. Not everyone is a rap addicted clown that uses words out of context and drowns themselves in mindlessness. Lol
It's rare, but it sometimes works. I'm the only female at my current job. Two men old enough to be my dad and the rest are little brothers in my eyes. We have funny stories and joke around like children! Recently there was a little drama where I confronted one of my favorite guys about something he didn't do. He got upset, we stepped away from each other and then later were both apologizing. There was another female worker who's gone now but man, only the kiss ass boy got along with her. Everyone else kept distance. Working with her made me understand the whole "bossy" conflict. I got along with her until one disagreement happened and she wouldn't even allow me to hash it out or apologize, playing the total victim.
Joe hits it on the head here.. in the office, you cant talk about nearly anything (religion, politics, you cant even make jokes in case you offend someone).. Happy to be working from home where you cant offend everyone all the time..
I had jaw surgery due to the way my teeth met (my lower jaw was wider/ bigger than my upper jaw) and it isn't actually that bad! They do break it in several places but it's not even very painful, the biggest thing is the discomfort from not being able to eat solid for like 6 weeks but you get used to even that and it's ok. :)
It's much more uncomfortable when you're a man to be flirted with by a female co-worker when you're loyally married. Some guys don't want to cheat on their wives, but it's almost like you've committed some unspoken social crime when you complain about a woman co-worker being inappropriate with you. Look, maybe I'm happily married and I have been trying for years to build this family and all it would take is one rumor about a coworker to destroy my marriage. That's a crappy situation to be in when you're a guy.
I’ve been with my husband for going on nine years total and he’s my only friend. 🤷♀️ I like people in general but don’t have any desire to maintain friendships or have a certain level of intimacy that women expect in friendship. We talk about most things.
I like their discussion of "sure" and "fine" texts. You should never try to assign tone or meaning to text messages to the extent that people do. So much of our ability to communicate is derived from tone and body language, that trying to extract meaning from text messages is futile. You shouldn't assume someone is mad at you unless they express it in person, or make it abundantly clear via texting. I would bet that a lot of relationships have been destroyed by people making assumptions based on short, passive texts.
I was a supervisor at Walmart and my partner was an associate under me when I got transferred to his area, we started dating secretly very shortly after I got to his area and we’ve been together for over two years now, totally life partners. I ended up having to transfer stores because other managers saw him walking me to my car one night (for my safety, not for any sexual reason). But the store manager had in the past gotten someone under him pregnant and got bailed out, so he bailed me out and let me transfer.

His eyes are swimming
I think it is implied that they are speaking in generalities.... geeze. Much of an sjw or what?
If anyone believe these two are speaking in generalities then they shouldn't be watching podcast and talk shows discussions. Also their talking specifically personality characteristics, when it comes to social and private it is vastly different between men and women. Also stereotypes are speaking about a majority meaning 60-90%.

No, it's really weird when a workplace is completely imbalanced towards either sex. I've had that experience a couple times in my career: female-dominated environments are catty as hell and male-dominated are like being in middle school.
Most accurate comment here
I've worked in men only jobs most of the time and it's never been like middle school. That's so alien to me it's like you made it up. I believe you just added that to balance out the catty as hell comment.
Or maybe that's the vibe you bring so that's what you find, ever consider that?
My sister works in a male-dominated workplace the middle school line is accurate
that makes sense...if its just me and the guys at work we goof around a lot lol BUT we still get our work done, dont know if its the same with women

It's so ridiculous. Some guys can make leud and very suggestive comments in the workplace and nothing happens to them.
I love that he brings up the vast difference in how we all need to react in different situations and workplaces.
Things get weird probably due to the MeToo movement which forever changed how men and women socially and professionally interact.
StutteringCrisTop10 yep. Like, let’s just fucking bang really quick and then we can get back to work. Why is that so frowned upon?
Wah wahhhh

“ Guys let’s all do DMT our conversations will combine all our ideas”
