I worked at a movie theatre when moonfall hit the big screen. The amount of people I saw walking out of the theater looking completely dumbfounded was STAGGERING. The moon's changing(?) gravity/mass is what first really cracked me, and then the broken, antique shuttle getting slammed with a tsunami during launch, sort of pausing, and then breaking straight up through the wave almost made me leave. Sharknado respects science and/or reality more by just going, "This is happening and you don't need to worry about how. It's magic. Let's fight some fucking aerial sharks." The nonsense on every possible level had me at the edge of my seat and my mind thoroughly shredded. I wasn't ready. I didn't know. I couldn't have known.

Depends on the kind. With hard science fiction for example, the whole point is that the plot of the movie is actually plausible, and usually sends a message. That's how some of the best (imo) Sci fi writers do theirs, like Micheal Crichton

I finally got around to watching this and as soon as I saw Patrick Wilson I knew it would live up to the hype. Patrick consistently finds these roles in movies with unbelievable plots and acts his heart out in them enough to somehow make a character that seems real. What an amazing actor.

I watched a whole 1:30 minutes of this video when it came out, booked a ticket and now im just back from the cinema. This is absolutely the greatest movie ever made. I was so captivated by the story and physics nonsense like you can't imagine. And I shit you not I almost fucking cried when K.C.'s cat and grandma told him they were proud of him when he was inside the moon. I want a sequel right now.

I didn't expect Moonfall to be, like, completely accurate on the physics of it all, but I was so unprepared for the fuckery they tried to pull. The moon's changing(?) gravity/mass is what first really cracked me, and then the broken, antique shuttle getting slammed with a tsunami during launch, sort of pausing, and then breaking straight up through the wave almost made me leave. Sharknado respects science and/or reality more by just going, "This is happening and you don't need to worry about how. It's magic. Let's fight some fucking aerial sharks." The nonsense on every possible level had me at the edge of my seat and my mind thoroughly shredded. I wasn't ready. I didn't know. I couldn't have known.

God, I just came out of watching this, and everything he says holds water. One thing he didn't mention though was the pacing. The pacing was sooooooo bad! They kept jumping from location to location with no slow down that most of the time I would be like "where are we now???????"

They were "struggling pre-pandemic" thanks to companies like Disney though. Charging theaters ridiculous amounts/percentages of ticket sales to show movies because they are the big player and swing their dicks around. Not to mention the amount of hoops that they are required to go through in terms of very specific requirements for advertising and how and where it's displayed. Then cinemas have to charge so much to make any profit that everyone found other ways to watch (either pirating, or more recently streaming).
The movie industry has been steadily getting more profitable while cinemas are struggling more and more. Those that aren't the big chains are choked out.
The fact that the Director of this movie claimed that Marvel Movies would destroy cinema when he’s directed movies like this and 2012 is honestly hysterical to me.

It's true tho movie used to be art where people could use their creativity however they want and usually their filming quirks shows making their films feel unique. While now with all the marvel films coming out, while entertaining, it is just the same shit with different characters and too much cgi.

Depends on the kind. With hard science fiction for example, the whole point is that the plot of the movie is actually plausible, and usually sends a message. That's how some of the best (imo) Sci fi writers do theirs, like Micheal Crichton

This sounds like someone had an idea with a bunch of ideas/plot points with absolutely no idea how to connect them! This does sound like a really dumb but entertainingly dumb movie.
I mean most of the plot points are straight up lifted from other media. You can probably write this movie's screenplay in a day.

I’ve never seen Moonfall before but i trust Charlie’s opinion on it since he has played in a huge movie himself, The Hunger Games.

I finally got around to watching this and as soon as I saw Patrick Wilson I knew it would live up to the hype. Patrick consistently finds these roles in movies with unbelievable plots and acts his heart out in them enough to somehow make a character that seems real. What an amazing actor.
