One of the biggest farces in Australian motorsport. What could have been an awesome event turned into nothing more than a marketing exercise for Holden.
Holden smashed them and they did bring out a few for sale not many maybe 5 at the most so it was legal and it did come off the production line basically if they wanted to make the Monaro that’s how they would of made it and they did they just didn’t pump out thousands of them there was lambos Porsche Ferrari you name it all the big brands were there and Holden designed a car that would smash them all and it did
@@stubz239 lol, we all something blindly. Holden were a superior manufacturer. At manufacturing shitboxes then breaking the rules, slowing down the opposition to convince 'the touched' that their over weight, poorly balanced, badly braked shopping trolley could beat an actual supercar. It's comical so thankyou for the laugh on my lunch break.
Shame they removed this event but PROCAR went bankrupt so it had to go.... 12 Hours Race is okay but there are not GT cars just a mixed-bag of Production cars... completely amateur drivers. Not the same spectacle so to speak.
dontbecutk, Procar didn't go bankrupt. The owner of Procar had health issues so passed the event to another person. When he spoke with Bathurst council about running the event in 2005, he was outbid by an anonymous party. The council took the opportunity offer then the mysterious anonymous party walked away from the deal which ended the 24 hour.
All this does is remind me of the lengths some series will go to destroy another series. This car was there to destroy the event and drive internationals away. Bespoke diff, engine, illegal suspension points, the list goes on. It was then made abundantly clear with a legal Monaro was built for the EU series which it succeeded in coming 'stone motherless last' time and time again.
Holden biggest cheats in australian motoring history. How could they allow a proper race car in a road car series. I mean it even had a ford 9" diff. Ferrari weren't even allowed a rear spoiler.
mike val, it didn't have a 9" diff. It was a billet custom made diff along with many other cheats which include the GT1 LM corvette engine of 2001, supercar suspension, massive wheels. The biggest issue was stopping any other car from running the same freedoms.
I remember watching this when I was a kid 2 of the best racing cars ever made a magnificent race🎉🎉🎉
this needs to come back!
Ah yes …..the Holden 427
It was so good (?) it destroyed the class(literally)

Considering they were both purpose-built race cars versus production car models
4:25 i never thought of a Porsche as a slow car lol.

Daniel Pullen It was a gun at a sword fight which was orchestrated by Holden to make their shit box look good.
